Need Help hooking up Network Adaptor for PS2

Hey i have RoadRunner cable and connect with Aol Broadband, for some reason i can not get connected to the internet. I have everything hooked up rite but whenever i test for a connection it times out and i cant get connected, i called the help line but they did no good, can somebody help me please?

How do you have it set up? Do you have a router between your computer and modem, or do you have your ps2 and computer directly connected to the modem?
