EA reveals cover athlete for new Arena Football videogame.
by Ivan Sulic
December 16, 2005 - Colorado Crush quarterback John Dutton will be Electronic Arts' cover athlete for Arena Football, says EA.
"In a 51-48 win over the Georgia Force in ArenaBowl XIX this past June, Dutton led the Colorado Crush to its first-ever Arena Football League championship in just their third year in the league, throwing for 347 yards and three touchdowns. Dutton, a seven year Arena Football League veteran, previously led the San Jose SaberCats to an ArenaBowl title in 2002 where he was named MVP of ArenaBowl XVI. As the quarterback at the University of Nevada, Dutton helped Nevada earn its first bowl win with an 18-15 defeat over Ball State in the 1996 Las Vegas Bowl."
Dutton himself said, "I'm honored to be the first cover athlete for this new franchise and very excited about working with EA on Arena Football. I think it's great that fans can now experience the true action of Arena Football from the leader in sports video games."
Arena Football will be available for Xbox and PlayStation 2 in February 2006.

I work for one of the main sponsors of the game, and saw a demo back in September. It looks pretty good. But I am not sure how it can compete with the NCAA and Madden games.

I would like to know how this game is when you get it. I am still PO'd at EA for the whole madden/NFL license crap, but I am in desperate need of a new football game, and will NOT buy a Madden game.

Does it have to be NFL or just football? If not just NFL try NCAA.

I bought the game for my son and he loves it. They didn't take Madden and turn it into Arena Football, they started from scratch and it is very realistic. There are some neat features, you can switch and be the reciever instead of the qb. I don't know how much you know about Arena football, but in the real game the coaches stand on the field during the game. In the video game you can run them over and flatten them. I don't think you have to be a fan of Arena football to enjoy the game, but the rules will be a little tricky if you're not familiar with them. Especailly the defense, you'll get a lot of illegal defenses with the jack linebacker until you get used to it.

thats my main concern, when buffalo had a team, i went to the tryouts, and it was just strange the formations and different sets you played...
the dropback receiver thing was what threw me off the most, i run about a 4.8 40 these days and getting that running start really adds to how fast a jump the receiver can get...cool concept, wouldnt mind seeing that incorporated into the nfl some day.

I wouldn't want to see Galloway back there. :)
