The Bucs D likes "future" qb's. :grinyes:

Look at Vick's "success" against the Bucs.

Granted, I think Young is better than Vick but he is still young and will experience a lot of growing pains.

Plus your future all depends on what coach you get.

Just be thankful he won't be any worse than Mora.

He could always be Vick version 2.0. You don't know yet. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Granted that Vince Young is a remarkable QB, NFL football is FAR different than NCAA football. If he goes to NO, then Tampa has the players who can instinctively KNOW what Young is going to do before the ball is even snapped sometimes. I see Matt Leinart going to the Saints instead of Vince Young but you never know.

If Martz take the Saints job. Now way do they draft Young. Martz will draft Lienhart. More his style of QB, Young is definetly not that kind of QB that will work well in Martz's system.

Yee gods, I sure hope not. As a die-hard Longhorn fan I hope that no 'Horn is ever forced to endure life with this grotesque franchise (with requisite acknowledgement of hurricane sadness). I bet Young would rather swallow a mouthful of live fire ants than be drafted by the Aints.

They may be the worst franchise in sports history, and with an owner like Tom Benson there is no sign of situation getting any better.

Leave Young for the Titans at #3.....you bozos go ahead and ruin Leinart's career.

Cripes, I'd rather he be drafted by the Falcons, even, rather than the Aints. Never has a team ever done less, with more, for far longer than this franchise has.

So another mobile QB we can dominate?

Even when Philly was beating us they did it on the ground and with their d.

Vince Young wont be a star in the NFL. He may have Vick like success(HAHAHA) but wont be a true star i nthe league. He will get paid though but will be a Kordell Stewart type of QB as will Vick.

mmmmmmmmmm, why don't you guys give Adrian McPherson a chance? He was a stud in the Arena league, can throw the deep ball for your speedy receivers, and is mobile. Granted, he may be a bit of a head case, but why waste the draft pick on an almost identical twin?

This just in...Adrian McPherson, as of 8:38 AM today, has yet to find the center for the snap

maybe true, but if Martz goes there, McPherson could be the perfect gunslinger for his offense

His offensive schemes have made Kurt Warner, Marc Bulger, Jamie Martin, and even Ryan Fitzpatrick put up solid #s

McPherson has a better arm than all of them, and is quick enough to scramble and throw if needed

I don't see the comparison to Mike Vick... sure Vince can run.... but that's not all he can do. Vince was the most efficent passer in the NCAA this season... he threw for 3000 yards and ran for 1000 yards also his TD to INT ratio was superb.

He's no Mike Vick....

I sense a little wishful thinking here....

I like Matt L..... but if Vince is there at #2.... I think the Saints have to take him.... he has too much talent to pass on.

Um...Vick led the NCAA in passer rating his junior season also...

Vick Virginia Tech Hokies 2001:

90 comp. 153 att. 59% 1840 yards 12TDs 5 Ints 580 yards rushing 8 TDs rushing

Young Texas Longhorns 2005:

212 comp. 325 att. 65% 3036 yards 26 TDs 10 Ints 1050 yards rushing 12 TDs

There is no comparison... Young is twice the passer that Vick was in college... and and even better runner (if that's even possible.)

Also Young avoids the big hits better than Vick does and is nearly 5 inches taller.

1st of all, Vince Young was not a better runner than michael Vick in college. I'll give you the better passer, but he was definately not a better runner.

And as for Young avoiding big hits, thats not really entirely true either. Both players in college, never really took big hits, both were good at avoiding them. However, Michael was more elusive in that he made more people just flat out miss, Vince used his strong legs in that when he got hit, he was able to use his leg strength to break the tackles. Michael got hit less in college than Vince did.

Young is a long way from being a NFL QB, he needs to work on a lot of stuff before he can start.

You can argue style... but as far as substance Young's numbers speak for themselves.

He had nearly double the rushing and passing yards and TDs that Vick had in thier final years of school.

And yes Vick did make a lot of people miss with his quickness... but when he did get hit... he got clobbered. VY seems to be able to just avoid big hits for the most part. It's always a glancing blow or ankle tackle.

IMO, VY will be much more durable at the Pro level than Vick.... and he's already a better passer IMO. Whether or not VY will be able to run for 1000 and throw for 3000 in the NFL remains to be seen. I wouldn't count on it... but I wouldn't dismiss it either.

Looked to me like his recievers were more impressive, they caught alot of passes that were behind them.

Plus if he runs around like that in the pros someone will put a whoopin on him....he needs to learn to slide. I think I saw twice where he slid. Not enough imo
