I really like this kid. HE's fast, he's agile, and he has great instincts. Yes, I wish he had another year in college to learn a few more things, but I think he stands a shot at being a great linebacker. He's not the biggest guy, but look at our linebackers, none of them are. With Cooper gearing up to replace Brooks either this season, or next, and Ruud taking over either this season or next, out main weakness is our weakside. I just don't think Nece is the guy for anything other than a back up role, and even if we keep Gooch, who I think is a great player, he's more suited for strongside, plus he's getting older.

I think Sims could come in here and by the end of camp take over the weakside starting job.

That being said, if AJ Nicholson is still on the boards when we draft, which I doubt he will be, I'd love to see him come here and take over for Brooks when he goes, and see Cooper slide over to weakside.

why would we need a career ending injury waiting to happen i have 2 ppl that are grads thatare now boosters of fsu and his reasons for declaring where he wanted to be able to be drafted becuase he's had 4 concussions on record in 3 yrs this isn't the kind of player we need we need some1 healthy to have more then a 3 yr career

ummmm, can you read?

That article says that he's going pro because he doesn't want the risk of possibly getting a career ending injury. Its football, anybody can get them on any play. It doesn't say he's injury prone, outside of his concusions, he doesn't have any health problems. All the article says is that he's going pro because he doesn't want the possibility of getting hurt at the collegiate ranks.

Isn't D.B. our weakside LB and R. Nece our strongside LB?

I read somewhere that Greg Blue (S, Georgia) was being looked at as a WLB by teams who like undersized, faster players at that position (the writer mentioned the Bucs). I have seen him graded 2nd/3rd round. Anyone know more about him? Would he be an improvement over Nece/Cooper?

ok so concusions aren't that bad? even tho i can think of 2 players that had their careeers ended by them Bob Christianson (sp?) he was a Fb w/ the falcons and Wayne Chrebet both had to retire cause of concussions i'd rather see us get a db or 2 since barber n kelly aren't gonna be around forever and like when we had tim brown was a great teacher for clayton they would be great at teaching rookie dbs the cover 2 scheme

well, first you have to break down the reasonings on why these guys got concussions. Christianson was a FB, very self-explanatory because being a blocker, sometimes you tend to lead with your head going for blocks. Chrebet, though he ended his career because of injuries, also played 11 seasons in the NFL as a WR who made a living going over the middle. When a WR goes over the middle, he's going to take alot of shots to the head, and still managed to play 11 seasons in the NFL.

And to say that Tampa should draft a DB because Kelly and Barber aren't getting any older is flat out stupid. Main reason, BROOKS IS OLDER. There are alot of aging players in the bucs defense, and its better to draft a guy whose in the same exact mold as derrick brooks, seeing as how Brooks was the cornerstone of the defense, not Kelly or Barber.

so sims has had 4 concusions in 3 college yr is ok ya chrebet lasted 11 yrs but for a lb to be getting that mount of concusions it's his form which he won't change n he'll juss hit some1 bigger then he saw at fsu n it'll be lights out for his career w/ a good size signing bonus in the bank

but he will change his form in which he tackles.

Derrick Brooks coming out of college, didn't have the best form in making tackles, yet now, he has one of the best forms in the NFL. Derrick Johnson, at Texas, hardly ever wrapped up on tackles, all he did was just throw his weight into the guy. Now, he is another solid tackler. Kiffin and whoever the LB coach for tampa, would get his form to near perfect and make him a sure tackler, to go along with his already solid athletic ability.

And you still have yet to answer my question on why would you draft a replacement for kelly and barber even though BOTH of them are younger than Brooks, who is the main piece of this defense

That's easy, he obviously has something against Sims.

And yes, I did screw up the wlb, and the slb. My bad.

Either way, I'd still love to see this kid in a bucs uniform next season.
