I read an article about this guy the other day. http://tbo.com/bucs/MGBCJ8RHWIE.html
I dont know if anyone saw him play in the senior bowl, unfortunately i had to work and couldnt watch the game. I havent heard much about him in other news or anything but apparently the bucs think pretty high of him. If he ends up being a sleeper, I wonder if he could end up lasting into the second round, and then the bucs pick up a Mcneil in the first and this big guard in the second. But im sure every teams draft board looks completely different than websites mock drafts and such. Anyway anyone have any opinions if they like this guy or not?

From NFLDraftCountdown:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Offensive Guard | Senior | Oklahoma Davin Joseph
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 312 | 40-Time: 5.12
Official Bio
Strengths:
Has a wide frame and long arms...Is a pretty good athlete and moves well inside at guard...Tough and very strong...Packs quite an initial punch...Aggressive and plays with a nasty demeanor on the field...Smart and very technically sound...Is effective as both a run and pass blocker...A hard worker with excellent intangibles who wants to improve...Has a lot of experience against top competition.
Weaknesses:
Lacks great height...Footwork is only average...Becomes much less effective and doesn't look nearly as athletic when asked to move outside...Can do a better job of getting to the second level...Can improve his conditioning to help increase stamina...Struggled a little when he was moved to left tackle as a senior.
Notes:
Could possibly see some time at tackle but is a much better fit at guard...Has been overshadowed throughout his career but has consistently graded out very high for one of the better offensive lines in the nation...Should start very early on.

IMO Max Gene Gillis is a much better pick 6'4 340 The top ranked guard in the draft and should be available when the Bucs pick

I have no problem with Joseph, but if we waste a 1st or 2nd round pick onhim like the idiot in the article suggested then I will be pretty upset, you don't normally draft OG's in the 1st round, Steve Hutchinson was the exception, not the rule. Logan Mankins was drafted 32 overall last season but hardly qualifies.

I liked his play at the Senio Bowl, but his not worth a 1st round pick. Currently his the 3rd ranked OG (Gilles, Spencer) and hopefully will be there in the 3rd round.

I'd have no problem with him late 2nd or late 3rd when we pick. He seems like a big, powerful guard and could really help our interior. Mahan seems better suited for center as he was over powered at times on the inside. As someone mentioned he's the 3rd rated guard behind Gilles and Spencer. I actually wouldn't mind either 3 of those guards on the first day.
Another guard prospect I like as well is USC's Deuce Lutui (http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/og/taitusilutui.html). I think they'll come out of day 1 with a guard and there should be some good ones there for them at the bottom of both the 2nd and 3rd round.
Here are the top 3 guards' profiles...

I would take Spencer and his athleticism over any of these fatties you've mentioned, those gigantic OL don't usually work out very well nor do they usually take great care of themselves (letting themslves get too heavy, trouble with knees, never very athletic).

According to countdown, my 2 faves are the 32nd (sims) and 67th (maholena) ranked players on their big board, that will change a decent amount after the combine and individual workouts. I would love it if we could grab Sims in the 1st and Maholena in the 2nd and then grab a true Buc CB in Penn St's Alan Zemaitis. People should remember what the Bucs like in their CB's, short area quickness and the aggressiveness to support the run, Zemaitis will only run in the 4.5 range likely, but if anybody else other than me remembers, Ronde Barber ran a very pedestrian 4.63 at the combine and Brian Kelly was a 4.55 guy but both are excellent CBs for us.

While I don't agree with choosing Sims in the 1st, I do love the idea of choosing Maholena in the 2nd. Though he isn't as good against the run as Booger is, he is exactly what we need in the pass-rush department. Someone who can get into opponents backfields and take advantage of having guys like Hovan and Rice on the line, guys who take on 2 blockers almost every play.

As for the 3rd rounder, CB or RG would be the best ways to go. I wouldn't mind either. We could use a young guy in the secondary to learn from Kelly and Barber and hopefully at least become a solid 3rd CB for us and give us some consistency there (something Bolden couldn't give us).
Wouldn't mind RG... last time we chose a guard in the 3rd round we ended up with a stud. We just need someone who can play consistently in pass protection, and do a decent job pounding on the inside and occasionally pulling. We don't really need anything phenominal here, basically just a guy who can contain opposing UTs 1vs1 without much trouble.

None, actually :p. To be honest I haven't looked that far down the draft yet. I was more speculating what we should get, wasn't referring to any particular player. I just don't feel RG is a huge need. We can even wait out on it till next year and juss try out Davis there this year.

There are some really nice O-line prospects in this draft. Now that I stated the obvious, RG is not a position I don;t think the Bucs are in too much need of. We should draft one, if a real talented one falls to us in the 2nd or 3rd, but I am more than confident that Anthony Davis can hold it down at RG. Buenning is awesome at LG, and Mahan is solid at center. Getting a top flight OT early is what I hope the Bucs go after in this up-coming draft.
