View Full Version : Replacing Pittman?

Rumor has it that Pittman will look to buy out his contract and go elswhere next year where he can get more touches. Any guesses who will replace him? I heard the Bucs spent alot of time scouting Addai from LSU at the SB last week. Great blocker and receiver out of the backfield:

Height: 6-0 | Weight: 214 | 40-Time: 4.41
Strengths:
Has excellent timed speed with quick feet and a burst...Outstanding receiver out of the backfield...Runs hard and with power...Strong and can slip tacklers...Patient runner with good balance...Hits the hole and runs north / south...Also a very good blocker...Was always productive and made the most of his chances...Hard worker and team leader with top intangibles...Still has a lot of upside and potential.

Weaknesses:
Has only average size...Never carried the load in college and always split time with others...Is not very imaginative as a runner and doesn't have a lot of moves or wiggle...Durability is a concern as he was sidelined with minor ailments throughout his career and a torn ACL in '01...Is he more Domanick Davis or Kevin Faulk?

Notes:
Interesting prospect who only got a chance to start as a senior due to injuries...Underrated and could end up being better in the pros than he was in college with additional opportunities...A player who does everything well and will find a role at the pro level whether it be as a starter or situational player.

Another option is Drew out of UCLA, who could also return kicks and punts, but might not be a good enough blocker. Any thoughts?

Addai played a great game against Miami in the Sugar Bowl. I was very, very impressed with him and have been over the past two seasons at LSU. He'd be a great young compliment to Carnell.

You also brought up Maurice Drew, that would be as sweet as hell man!

Addai is a jack of all trades master of none type back. He has the potential to be very good in Gruden's offense as a guy to team up with Carnell.

I'd like to see what Watson has in him though.

I hope we keep Pittman. He's still a good back and has provided the best kick returns for this team that I have seen in quite some time. Plus we still have Graham and Watson. I doubt we even draft a RB this year.

Yeah, I'd rather just fill the hole Pittman left (if he does) with one of our current backup RB's we have now. I'd love it if Pittman was to stay, though.

If we were to get a RB, it'd be in rounds 5-7. Maybe someone like Taurean Henderson RB, Texas Tech, the most prolific recieving RB in NCAA history or Cedric Humes RB, Va. Tech, who's a power runner and has good slashing ability.

I really like Addai, he already shared time running the ball in college he shouldnt mind it in the NFL.

We'd have to spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick on him to get him.

I agree think we have enough depth at RB to use a 2/3 round pick on Addai. I am more worried about FB with the chance that Alstott and Cook could be gone and the talent level on the Oline.

Same here, I see no future in Razzano and Alstott is on his last legs. I'd like to see us draft Lawrence Vickers FB, Colorado or Matt Bernstein FB, Wisconsin in the 4th or 5th round. Vickers is the more versatile of the two, but Bernstein is the better runblocker.

Plus I'm hoping he ends up a starter somewhere. If Jets select D'Brick, they could get him in teh 2nd or 3rd to replace Curtis, which I think would be excellent.

Im a bull and if he goes later Andre Hall from South Florida could be a good pick-up. I would love to see him play as a bucccaneer, one definate plus is he is already used to playing in Ray Jay.

Do you think he knows all the little details at Ray Jay that every player needs to know? Best place to use the bathroom quickly during the game, easiest exit to take when leaving the game, the dimensions of the field just in case they are 53X100?

Seriously, it takes about half of one game to get used to playing in a stadium. I would much rather see us use our mid round picks on some guys that have a shot at playing for us and I see Pittman as a valuable asset (and pretty inexpensive) to our team. If the Bucs address the need for a 3rd or 4th string RB they will likely do so with a 1 or 2 year training camp vet or a guy making veteran's minimum.
