1. Houston - Reggie Bush, RB, USC - Very Obvious here, in a trade where I left out predicted trades, Bush will go number one, no matter what team actually picks here.

2. New Orleans - D'Brickshaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia - With the signing of Brees, gives them a chance to look elsewhere in the draft. This pick won't be Mario Williams because they're set at DE, and while AJ Hawk would be a great pick here, having bookends of Ferguson and Brown would leave them set there for years.

3. Tennessee - Matt Leinert, QB, USC - Chow gets re-united with Leinert, and Tennessee finds their future replacement for McNair.

4. New York Jets - Mario Williams, DE, NC St. - Vince Young would be also be a good pick here, but since the Jets just cut ties with star DE John Abraham, and have a shot at the best DE in the draft, Mario Williams is just too good to pass up. Another possibility could be Vince Young here, and Kiwi or Wimbley with their later pick. But I still think the Jets feel comfortable with Pennington, and don't want to take the time to groom a rough around the edges QB.

5. Green Bay - AJ Hawk, OLB, OSU - AJ is a beast, and will add a great player on the defensive side of the ball for the packer defense.

6. San Francisco - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland - Added Bryant for the Outside threat, and since no good WRs are available here, Davis is a physical beast who will create mis-matches as a TE who could line up as a WR at times to create problems.

7. Oakland - Holati Ngata, DT, Oregon - Vince Young is also a possibility here, but all the DTs in Oakland are aging fast, and Ngata is a physical beast. There's been some rumors that if Harrington is released, the Raiders will make a strong push for him.

8. Buffalo - Winston Justice, OT, USC - With the releasing of Mike Williams, the Bills will be in big need of an OT, Justice is the best in the draft and while it is a reach, will be good for them in the long run.

9. Detroit - Michael Huff, S, Texas - Alot of needs for this team, but adding Huff should solidify the Lions defensive backfield. No need for giving them a QB, since they've got like 5 on the roster, and all Martz really needs is a QB with a strong arm to play in his offense.

10. Arizona - Vince Young, QB, Texas - The Young slip finally ends with Denny Green getting his new Randall Cunningham. This Cards offense has made huge strides and Young won't have as much pressure with 3 pro-bowl caliber weapons in Edge, Fitz, and Quan.

11. St. Louis - Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech - Defensive help is huge, and Williams is the best pick since he can play safety and corner.

12. Cleveland - Manny Lawson, OLB, NC St. - Lawson is in the mold of Merriman and Ware last year. Look for Cleveland to shift Chaun Thompson to the outside, put Mcginest and Davis in the middle, and Lawson to play opposite of Thompson.

13. Baltimore - Broderick Bunkley, DT, FSU - Lost Ma'ake so Bunkley will start in his place. Cutler could be a possibility, but look for Baltimore to pass on him because of Boller

14. Philadelphia - Santonio Holmes, WR, OSU - an OT could be a possibility, but this isn't a solid WR class, and Holmes is the best available. there are plenty of OTs that will be around in the 2nd round to take Runyans place, who may actually be re-signed.

15. Denver - DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis - This is a team with some needs, and many people feel RB isn't a big need in the running system Denver has implemented. But they haven't had a good single runner since Portis, so they take a shot at the leading rusher in college football. I see Williams as a runner similar to Portis was, just not as fast. But he is quick, and does have the ability like Portis to make people miss, and run over others.

16. Miami - Chad Greenway, OLB, Iowa - up until they signed Will Allen, CB was a need. Now, they've got Crowder as an OLB, and also have Zach Thomas but he's getting older, and when he retires, Crowder will slide to the middle, and Miami doesn't have any other decent OLBs.

17. Minnesota - Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt - Cutler's slip finally ends, as Brad Childress gets his QB to mold. Johnson will be the starter for the first year for sure, and maybe even 2 years, but after that, it will be Cutler's job to lose.

18. Dallas - Ko Sampson, FS, South Carolina - WR would have been a need until they signed Owens, this team does have a few other needs but Ko Sampson will be a great safety in the NFL.

19. San Diego - Chad Jackson, WR, Florida - McCardell is a FA I believe, and Eric Parker is not a #1 WR. Chad Jackson has the field presence to be a #1, he just has to break the curse of the UF recievers. He'll have big shoes to fill.

20. Kansas City - Tye Hill, CB, Clemson - Probably the best pure corner in the draft, and Kansas City doesn't really have a #1 corner on their team, pretty obvious pick.

21. New England - Bobby Carpenter, OLB, OSU - Lost McGinest, Vrabel should slide to MLB, and Carpenter, another OSU lb, will start as the OLB for Belichek

22. Denver - Tambi Hali, DE, Penn St. - With the loss of Trevor Price, and Hali slipping, it makes perfect sense to draft him here.

23. Tampa Bay - Ernie Sims, OLB FSU - Not many team needs here, Sims is probably the most athletic pure LB in the draft, and is a Derrick Brooks clone. Would probably start immediatly at SLB, then slide to the WLB when Brooks retires

24. Cincinnati - Mercedes Lewis, TE, UCLA - This team is pretty solid, a TE is a pretty big need for them and Lewis is arguably the best available here. will make the offense even more dangerous, if thats possible.

25. New York Giants - Demeco Ryans, OLB, Alabama - They have a weak set of LBs and Ryans is the best available, pretty explanitary.

26. Chicago - Leonard Pope, TE, Georgia - Desmond Clark isn't the answer at TE, Pope is big and fast, a nice target up the middle for Grossman/Griese/Orton, whoever actually starts for them.

27. Carolina - LenDale White, RB, USC - Foster was re-signed, but this pick allows them to keep the thunder and lightning combination they've had.

28. Jacksonville - Antonio Cromartie, CB, FSU - Weak secondary, Cromartie is an iffy-pick coming off injury, but Matt Jones was a risky pick last year, and it paid off.

29. New York Jets - Laurence Moreny, RB, Minnesota - Martin is getting old, and Blalock didn't do much of anything when given the chance. Maroney is a very good RB, and will be the future RB for the Jets.

30. Indianapolis - Abdul Hodge, LB, Iowa - There are some better LBs available, but Hodge has experience playing the MLB position, and the Colts have lost Barnett.

31. Seattle - Max Jean-Gilles, OG, Georgia - Deep team here, but with the loss of Hutchinson, Jean-Gilles is a solid pick here.

32. Pittsburgh - Kamerion Wimbley, DE, FSU - Here's an interesting pick, but he's a solid pass-rusher, and they could either bulk him up to play DE in the 3-4, and keep him where he's at to give them depth as an OLB in their 3-4

a 2nd round is soon to come, probably within 2 days

WR is a need, no doubt. I'm fairly certain the Eagles will look to address it on the first day. However, they drafted Reggie Brown last year and he's show more promise than any Eagles WR in more than a decade (back to Arkansas Fred/Calvin WIlliams days for a draft pick). They've also inked Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney is still very young and they may look to lock him up with a long term deal if he works out. He's the cousin of Eagles CB Lito Sheppard, so that may help.

Point being, I still think they go DT in the first because it's a need and they haven't looked to address it at all in free agency. Further, they're looking to unload Hollis Thomas, a rotation DT.

In the past, the Eagles have been active in moving up in the draft and that may very well happen this year if they feel the first round DTs aren't going to last. Personally, I think at least one of them will be there.

In the second round, look for SLB more than T. The Eagles drafted a kid last year, Todd Herremans, and he played really well for a rookie tackle. They'll give him a shot before drafting first day to replace Runyan. They may also slide Shawn Andrews to RT (a position he played in college) and open up a guard spot for competition. In other words, I don't think OT is a first day pick, either.

To me, the first day will be interior lines (DL and OL), SLB, and WR. Maybe SS (Michael Lewis has resisted contract renegotiation for extension) and CB (nickel back).

I love hearing rumors after I make these things. I was playing around on the internet, and was reading how phil savage really likes the 3 big FSU prospects; Sims, Wimbley, and Bunkley. Now, I kept playing around and read that Childress wants a QB in the first round because he wants his QB who he can mold, like i said in the mock I made. However, if it gets to around the 12th pick in the draft, and Cutler is still on the board, which is a good possibility, I'm hearing that the Vikings may not want to risk waiting for Cutler at 17, and the Browns may be looking to slide back to the vikings pick to target FSU LB Ernie Sims. Its only rumors, and I didn't include trades in here, but I found that to be pretty interesting.

Ernie Sims doesn't really fit a 3-4 mold....However, I've never been one to buy too much into, 3-4 vs. 4-3...etc...I just think either the guy can play football, or he can't.

I think he would be a MLB in the 3-4, which would leave McGinest and Thompson on the outside. At his pro-day, he came in a shade under 6 foot and weighed 234 lbs. In New England, Crennel had Bruschi who weighed 247 which is only 13 lbs, not a major difference.

He may be a bit undersized, but with pro-conditioning coaches, could add a few more pounds and be fine. Him and Andra Davis in the middle of the 3-4 would be a solid LB group for a few years, along with Chaun Thompson who played pretty well this past season.

If the Browns go with him...I hope Manny Lawson falls to us..He's the guy I want more than any other, I've just figured he wouldn't fall that far.

I don't think he's there at 23 because if the Browns did trade back in this scenario, they'd still be tempted to go with Lawson, and if we do take Sims over Lawson, there's still New England and Denver who sit infront of tampa who have a legit shot at taking him. I think Tampa may get lucky and take Dwight Freeney Jr, Tamba Hali

13 pounds of muscle is a big difference and I think it would be hard for him to make the switch to the inside in a 3/4

do you think sims is the clear choice over cromartie?

or is your 23 pick based on gettiing a linebacker before a CB?

its gotta be a win/win with either of those 2. one advantage sims easily has is that cromartie was injured almost allof last year. but on the field they were both animals

I don't think I agree with this:

12. Cleveland - Manny Lawson, OLB, NC St. - Lawson is in the mold of Merriman and Ware last year. Look for Cleveland to shift Chaun Thompson to the outside, put Mcginest and Davis in the middle, and Lawson to play opposite of Thompson.

I like the pick but Lawson won't start right away. It's just that I don't see McGinest playing inside. When has he ever played inside? He's a DE/OLB and could teach Lawson a thing or two for a couple years.

Sims wouldn't be a bad pick to play inside though. He can tackle and is tough despite what some rumors have suggested.

If either Cutler or Young drops to the Vikings they'll grab 'em.

I also like the Maroney pick for the Jets. If he's there and they haven't traded that pick to move up from #4 he'll be gone to eventually replace Curtis Martin.

yeah i made that mistake, i was thinking of Vrabel when i wrote McGinest

It would be Lawson and McGinest on the outside, Thompson and Davis on the inside
