According to Amazon.com and EB Games, the game will be released on August 22nd.
After buying last year's and experiencing the horrendous AI blocking, I'm giving this one a test run in stores before buying it. Darn EA and their stupid exclusive rights. I liked ESPN NFL Football! :(

Yeah, I liked it better when there were two companies. Now that there is only one, the quality has decreased.
And I agree, ESPN NFL FOOTBALL was better than Madden.

EA didn't buy them out. They just forked over a HUGE sum of money to the NFL for exclusive rights to football games with the NFL license for a few years.
Then, from what I understand, Sega turned around and did the same thing with another sport. (Hockey or baseball it was... can't remember which.)

Sega Sports bought the exclusive rights to MLB. Hockey is still up for grabs, but if EA buys it out, I'll be ****ed. I play NHL 2k6 religiously.
As for EA, they really need to step up here, after an underwhelming Madden 2006. Better be good.

Yeah. They'd better improve Madden. I don't care about all these new features and that junk they add every year when the basic gameplay and AI are so shoddy it's embarassing.
The precision passing stuff is fun and cool, but the AI blockers are freaking ******ed. The opponent AI is pretty crummy overall, anyway. Even on the hardest difficulty level, the AI is incredibly easy to beat, and, for someone who doesn't have X-Box Live, and doesn't live near friends who even remotely care about football (like me), bad AI is a HUGE downside.

ESPN had great gameplay I thought, but the offseason sucked.

I agree. Its the one and only reason I don't play NFL Head Coach at all now. I played 6 weeks into the season and I have about 6-10 interceptions a game. The AI is horride.

Oh, you know they'll improve it, though to them improving means something totally different than it does to me... They'll add in, and they'll take away the things we just got used to, or loved from before. Happens every year.

Try running a realistic offense. I have Jay Cutler starting in his rookie season and he only has tossed 3 picks in the first four weeks. Head Coach is a great game once you get into it. Also try using the "protect the ball, don't force it" strategy in the QB menu.

I can't stand 2k Hockey. It's so garbage. They really need to upgrade the graphics. It looks like I'm playing '94 on my PC.

I'm looking forward to NCAA 07 more than Madden.
For some reason, NCAA has always been more entertaining to me. In fact, NCAA 06 on PS2 is the best game I've ever played.

No, I'm 6-0. My defense gets 6-10 interceptions, most of them run back. Getting most of the cover-2 defensive plays to money guarentees you a bunch of interceptions each week. Yeah, I'm the Lions and I drafted Jay Cutler as well. He's only thrown 5 interceptions in the first 6 weeks.

Madden '07 has a lot of frustrating things on either side of the ball. My friends and I (4 of us) tried two seperate things.
First, the standard franchise, where we played on all Madden, and once there were WEEKLY blowouts, upped the opponents' AI up 5 stat bumps per category seemed to challenge us reasonably well.
Second, we picked a team, and played as all four at once. Two played corners, one a Line Backer, and I'd always play safety.
The Second option is a lot more fun to be honest, because it's SO much harder to play that game with 4 independant minds PLUS the computer on your team. But it's rewarding as hell to watch PacMan Jones catch an interception with John Lynch right behind him hitsticking the life out of the reciever.
:: sighs in fond reminisence::
Those are what make this game worth playing.

For some reason, I'm the same way. (Although I wouldn't call NCAA06 the best game I've ever played.) When it comes to watching and supporting real teams, I'm far more into the Bucs that I ever have been any college team. But as far as the video game world goes, the NCAA series is just more fun.
