xbox 360 question

i just got a 360 today and all of my sports games from the old xbox[i mainly care about madden 06] don't work on it and when i put it in it says you can get an upgrade for it at xbox.com/games

i tried that and found nothing

are any of you able to play the xbox version of madden 06 on the 360..and if so how are you able to do it

Ok, there are a couple steps to playing backwards compatible games on the 360. First you have to download a small program here. (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardscompatibility.htm#download) Then you have to write it onto a cd, and then place it in your xbox 360. (I believe the file you download is a disk image so you must write it out as such on the cd.)

The 360 will take over from there as long as you have done it correctly, then all you do is put in the old game and you're on. You can find a list of compatible games here. (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm)

Madden is not backwards compatible.

To play BC games you simply put the game in and hook up your 360 to the internet, it will automatically download the emulator.

is that a list of games that you can play on 360 without downloading anything..or is that the one where you do..because some of the games on that list i can use on the 360 and i haven't downloaded that thing..or is it that once you download it and put it in the disc you can use any xbox game on it

BarberandBrooks: I have the same exact problem; it is impossible to play Madden NFL 2006 for Xbox on the Xbox 360 atleast until they update the backwards compatible list.

Some games are backwards compatible and some games are not.

You can use any game on the list, and for people without xbox live, i dont know if simply hooking it up to broadband will activate the patch. That is good though, if you don't have to make the cd, 'cause i remember what a pain that was.

Also, one good bit of info, dont buy any of the launch sports games besides Madden. I heard they are mostly ports, and if you ever decide to trade them in you will get minimal money for them. So, in other words, wait a little bit and buy them used real cheap.
