i hardly ever watch college ball but tonight wanted to see fsu beat miami :grinyes: however, at the end when fsu intercepted the ball the guy did not get up and run so i am guess once the knee touches the ground that is when the play stops regardless of if he has been touched by an opposing team player. is this accurate?
also they seem to call very VERY few penalties, especially pass interferance, why is that?

When you have possession, if you are on the ground you are down. No one has to touch him.
They call pass interference much like the pros. I didn't see any in this game tho.

When a any part of the ballcarrier besides the hands or feet touches the ground, said ballcarrier is deemed "downed" at the spot. College ball does not require the ballcarrier to be touched by a member of the other team in order for them to be deemed "downed". Simply falling to your knees or back ends the play.

WOW  must be quite a shock when they first play in the NFL.

Remember
In college ball you only need to have one foot down to be deemed "in-bounds" and therefore a catch.

But it sucks when an opposing player is on top of another player and loses the ball, but the play can't be reviewed because of a whistle.....

Ok....
Burress was with the Steelers. His rookie year he catches a pass over the middle behind the linebackers. Falls down after caught it (untouched). Got up and spiked the ball.... (thinking he was down)
FUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, if you pay attention in the NFL preseason, this happens (typically by WRs) about once every 2-3 years or so.

As Bill Clinton would have said; "Close, but no cigar" (or possibly "Close, but no, cigar.")

As Bill Clinton would have said; "Close, but no cigar" (or possibly "Close, but no, cigar.") I think the first one is right.
Anyway, that was the classic Plaxico Burress play. He made a great catch and fell to the ground. Excited by his highlight-reel catch, he spiked the ball. I don't remember who recovered the fumble, but it was the first of many dumb Plax things.

One of the worst rules in football. I never understood the reason for that.

I think the first one is right.
I'm going to take a wild guess here; You didn't get that one, did you?
stepfordbuc, the allowed margin for error is probably slightly larger here in OT, but try to post in the correct Forum in the future. Thank you.
