View Full Version : Thoughts and opinions on a QB predicament

'Ello. I have a tough decision to make in my fantasy league as I am playing for the championship this weekend. I am strong at all positions save for QB. I drafted Delhomme (missed the past few weeks due to injury) and Plummer (benched for Cutler) as my starters and had Carr as their backup... obviously that hasn't panned out as I would have hoped. My opponent and myself are projected to put up similar numbers so unless one or two players on either of our rosters just puts up monster games, this position just might decide who wins. Or I can be completely blown out or vice versa... heh. Who knows, right?

Anyway, I don't know who to start as my #2 QB for the game. I scooped up Garcia as soon as I heard McNabb got injured when Philly played Tennessee many weeks ago and he is locked in as my #1. I had Leinart as my #2 for a while with Delhomme going down with ligament damage in his thumb. Unfortunately, Leinart is done for the season after spraining his shoulder last weekend (It really seems as if I'm cursed at QB in this particular league). I dropped him and picked up Warner. I picked Rattay up this week as well. Delhomme practiced today with the first team and has a chance for playing in week 17.

So here are the choices and facts...

Delhomme @ New Orleans:

Delhomme hasn't played in about a month and it's not even a guarantee that he will play this weekend. The last game he played was against the Eagles and he put up impressive numbers despite the two picks he threw. In week 4 vs. New Orleans he put up about 170 yards threw for 2 TDs and no INTs. New Orleans' pass defense has given up 24 TDs and has 11 INTs. They give up 177 passing yards a game. To clarify, the league dishes out 1 point per 30 passing yards to bring you all up to speed. As is the norm, TDs are worth 6 and turnovers are worth -2.

Rattay vs. Seattle:

Rattay is somewhat of an enigma. He put up absolutely monster numbers in only one half of play against the "terrifying" Chicago defense. Is this attributable to the fact that they let up considering they were up so much at half? Probably. He came back down to earth last week against Cleveland. Seattle's pass defense has given up 22 TDs and has 12 INTs. They give up 205 passing yards a game.

Warner @ San Diego:

Warner hasn't played in two months. He was benched after a month of football due to constant fumbling and poor decision making which led to stupid interceptions. Last week, however, he didn't turn the ball over once in relieft of Leinart when he hurt his shoulder. San Diego's pass defense has given up 18 TDs and has 16 INTs. They give up 191 passing yards a game.

Carr vs. Cleveland:

Carr has been atrocious as of late. Over the last 8 games he's thrown only 2 TDs and has 6 INTs. Also, the Texan running game has been coming on strong so I expect it to continue this weekend. Cleveland's pass defense has given up 20 TDs and has 17 INTs. They give up 211 passing yards a game.

So... as of now I have them ranked:

1) Delhomme (if he can go) - Kind of a crapshoot after being off for a few weeks, but he has put up the best fantasy numbers of the bunch and the Panthers are still in the playoff hunt if you can believe it.

2) Rattay - Also a crapshoot, but Seattle is locked into the playoffs after clinching the NFC West division title last week so they might lay off a bit to prepare for their wildcard showdown with whomever.

3) Warner - Has the most weapons at WR, but turnovers are a problem and San Diego is playing for homefield advantage this weekend.

4) Carr - Crap. Really no other explanation needed.

I think I hashed it out well, but I'd like to see things from another viewpoint. What would you do?

1. Rattay
2. Delhomme
3. Carr
4. Warner

I concurr .. although if you get to 3 .. I would just punt ...

Or look in free agency wire ..

DO consider NEVER playing in a league that runs all the way to week 17. As you have discovered .. it is a shame that your whole year rests on folks benching guys or trying guys out, etc.
