If for some odd reason TB doesn't draft CJ. I think they still have to take a WR with their first pick in the second round. This draft is rich w/ WR's and some are likely to slip. Who do you guys and girls like in the second (which WR)?

Couldn't disagree more I'm afraid!
CJ is touted as a special talent, and we have more areas of need then WR.

I know we have alot of needs, but my point is that WR might still be the BPA in the second round. At this point, I wouldn't disagree with taking the best players still on the board. We will still have alot of other picks to fill some holes (if that's what you want the Bucs to do w/ this draft). But w/ WR being the strongest position in this draft (like RB last year) you can get some seriously good players in the beginning of the second. Just some food for thought.

I completely disagree that WR is the deepest position in the draft. I would say that this is a heavily defensive draft. Particularly at safety, defensive end, and linebacker. Name some WRs that might be available at top of 2nd.

Have we found that go-to guy? That game-breaker? No. I'm not saying TB has no talent, but if we don't take CJ in the first-round (perhaps we go defensive or w/Thomas), then getting some upgrades at WR is always a good idea, especially when there are players at that position that have alot more potential than others.

I'm only asking you all for your opinion on which most talented WR might slide to the Bucs pick. Whether we should still take him there is another argument that I can argue on either side, but wouldn't be surprised if Gruden does take a WR. ?Didn't his coaching career begins as a WR coach?

That's my question. Thank you.

You were the one who claimed it was a deep WR class. You should name them.

CJ- GT
Ginn, Jr.- OSU
Meachem- TN
Jarrett- USC
Samardzija- ND
Bowe- LSU
Rice- S. Carolina
Davis- LSU

Just to name a few good college prospects. But way to turn it around. Perhaps someone else has some other players to add for us all to watch. Any input? Or just more questions to my question?

It depends on who is available. If all the junior WRs declare, then this will be a draft deep with WRs, and there might be someone worth taking in the 2nd round, but until we get to our pick in the 2nd round, its hard to say.

If any of those guys fell into the 2nd I'd be happy...
*Samardzija might opt to play baseball, so he could definantly fall

let's face facts. clayton is turning out to be a bust, and galloway is 35 years old.

calvin johnson could create a huge spark and help our offense to catch fire.

not just with the passing game, he can be used as a decoy at times, and open up holes for the running game.

at his size, he is also an excellent blocker.

what more could you want?

Your right to think that. I've seen some real bone-head moves by the Bucs over the years. The only coach who drafted sensibly, so far, was Dungy. (Big reason we won the Super Bowl). Let's hope Gruden doesn't mess this no-brainer up (i.e. not drafting CJ when he's available).

Sooooo many things to worry about.

Like...

1. CJ declares or not?

2. Oakland picks him?

3. The coin toss.

4. Cleveland picks him if they get 3rd pick??

5. Other team trades up to #3

6. We pass on him for Adams, Thomas, or Quinn.

How would it be Gruden's fault if CJ is not there for
the Bucs to pick him?
Try to make a little sense, huh?
You want to draft a wr in the 2nd if the Bucs don't get CJ,
then your hatred for Gruden comes thru!
If the Bucs do not get CJ in the first, I still want them to
DRAFT DEFENSE with both the 2nd rounders and the 3rd.

That's a possibility. But I'm not as afraid of that if all the other juniors declare. Teams will be less likely to move up to take CJ when they have other options at WR. I know he's a phenomenal player (def. a step above the rest), but most likely not worth the cost with others likely to be available for teams to select. Upward movement, in/into the top 5, is more likely for Russell, Quinn, or Thomas.

As I wrote, if he's available it would be foolish to not take him. If we take CJ, then there is absolutely no need to take a WR in the second, and we will need to return the focus to defense. My post about a WR in the second were merely to stimulate thought about a skilled player that could rationally drop to our pick (w/o CJ selected). I'm not a Gruden hater, but he still needs to prove himself not to me but to Tampa and the NFL. He won with the talent Dungy built. Great for him that he was able to take and win with that team, but I not sold he can assemble the talent needed to do it again. I hope he does. But passing on CJ (when he's available for us to select) would just be another sign, not about his coaching per se, but his talent selection.

I hope Gruden takes a liking to him in the Senior Bowl (assuming Weddle goes to the Senior Bowl). He would make a great addition to the Bucs.
