Hi all, we just got our ps3 and madden is so intense, I was wondering if anyone knows how to make it so the other person cannot see the play you pick or is it always going to be seen by the other person... The graphics are sweet, can see the blades of grass and everything. thanks if anyone can help!!

I didn't lock up on you yet?

Try the game manual, or just look up the controls in the game, I'm sure it's in there.

Right now it is. There aren't enough titles out to warrant the massive price tag on it. Plus, a lot franchises that were Playstation exclusive are ditching it for cross platform development. Heck, the creator of Metal Gear Solid said he wants to take the series to the Wii after MGS4 is released. Assassin's Creed is coming to the 360 and PC, so that's another big name title that was formerly PS3 exclusive.

Coupled with the fact that the PS3 is an absolute pain in the rear to program for, you'll likely see most games primarily developed for the 360, then ported to the PS3. This means that a lot of the PS3's hardware won't be used to its full advantage.

But, what would I know? I'm only a student game developer. :o I'm not saying it's set in stone that the PS3 is going to be a bust, but Sony's got a mighty big hill to climb if they even want to compete with the Wii and 360.

I just remembered... I walked into Target this afternoon after school to look at buying a movie, and I noticed 4 PS3's sitting in the cage. I asked the guy how long they'd been there, and he said they put them out on Sunday. All the people who spent a fortune for them on eBay got :urowned: by their lack of patience.

wow, i'll still wait till like next years some time, or christmas..... hopefully it'ss drop a hundred bucks
Not likely. Sony's losing almost $250 for every PS3 they sell. If they drop the price, they'll sell more, but they'll also lose even more money for each one they sell. It'll be a loooooooong time before the price drops, in my opinion, unless they decide to get some common sense and give up with this Blue-Ray crap. No developer is going to use 50gigs of disc space for a game. Square-Enix might be able to do it if they decide to release every Final Fantasy they've done for the PS3, but everything I've heard of them says they're excited about working with the Wii regardless of the fact that they're trying to finish Final Fantasy 13.

50gigs is overkill. Blizzard spent about 5 years in the development of WoW and it still only took up 5gigs. Imagine how long it'd take to do one with 50, and make all of it count. By the time it's finished, all the tech you used to make the game would be so obsolete that noone would care anymore. Couple this with the new image compression techniques being developed, and you've got a format that can store a whole lot of stuff, but few companies who actually have the gaming/movie database to fill it.

Exactly, too many people think the price is going to drop in only a year. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Like Legacy said, Sony's alread losing a lot of money.

As for the Microsoft, they are now making about a $75 profit after each console they sell. So THAT points to sometime this year the price of the 360 will be going down...because MS is doing very well.

360 has already shown signs of price drop. $100 gift card at Toys R Us, free game at Best Buy, and free accessories at EB are just off of the top of my head. Sure, these are not direct price cuts, but you are getting more for the purchase price than just the console.

Xbox is clearly ahead, and the Wii looks to be the biggest competition. I could go buy a PS3 tommorow, but why? I would rather spend the bucs on a racing wheel, games, accessories for my 360.

Unless BluRay pans out, the PS3 is in big trouble.

Wow you guys are something else. Shes just asking how you do something while playing a game an immediately people are spewing crap about the 360, not even relating to what she is talking about. How about you just answer the question. So what if she bought a PS3.

Edit: Before you guys want to bash Blu-Ray you might want to check this out....
Quote:
Blu-ray has 96% of the HD player market in Japan. In terms of Japan the game is already over there.

Only 4 of the top 20 DVD last year are from HD DVD camp. Almost all the top 20 movies are only available on Blu-ray.

Understanding and solutions believe Blu-ray will sell more discs.

Same source estimates that PS3 will far outsell the X-Box Drive.

Largest variety of movies.
Largest variety of hardware.

Quote:
Half of the Sony titles will be BD50GB, despite what HD DVD said.

Quote:
They will release 18 titles by the end of Feb.
The Decent was 50GB and is the first with PIP, and has BDJ.
They announce more titles than we can type, look forward for the press releases, when they are available

Bob Chapek President of Disney.

Quote:
Over 20 Blu-ray titles in the first half of 2007, many world wide.
Mic makes loud noise, everyone jumps! Bob says "I didn't realize the other side wanted to win that bad" Everyone laughs.
He goes on to cover the previously announced Blu-ray titles.

From the fox film exec himself:

Quote:
On Dec 20th BD outpaced HD DVD.

Fox will continue to be aggressive with BDJ.
7-10 titles per month, most will be 50GB.
Will continue with day and date releases.

.

Blu-Ray is winning by a huge margin...

Read the whole thread. She asked if it was a crappy buy. We were answering that question. I only bought the 360 into it as a comparison to what developers consider an accesible system. I personally hate it as a gaming platform, but I can't argue with the fact that Microsoft went to extreme lengths to make the system as hassle free as possible in the coding exvironment. The same can't be said for Sony, which is why I think their games lineup is going to suffer. That was my point.

And, yes, wikkedbucschic, it's a cool job. :) I'm learning to code for handhelds this month.

thanks man. I actually found the original answer(about hiding plays from the opponent) in the game book. I am really not concerned with getting online with it or even watching dvds on it, I have always been a playstation homer and just did not want to go with something I wasn't sure we were going to like. I want your job :D

IS ANYONE GOING TO ANSWER HER QUESTION??? I will....

If you are talking about the PLAY SELECTION menu, I don't think it HIGHLIGHTS the actual play you are selecting. Three plays should be visable and you can pick any of the three. Technically, your opponent has a 33% chance of guessing. Make sure you have good audibles planned.

If you are talking about seeing your receivers ROUTES before the snap just remember before the snap, if you press R1, it will show you the tags for your receivers AND the routes they will run. If you press L1, it will ONLY show you the receiver tags and NO routes.

As for the other commentary, here's a link to the most comprehensive review of the PS3 vs. the Xbox 360. It focuses on the PS3, then compares it to the 36o and Wii and shows where it excels/lags.....

blu ray = too expensive for the average consumer.

I am happy with my plain ol' dvd player. As long as I have a bunch of games to play, xbox 360 is going to be my choice.
