My PS3 wireless took a little trial and error too, but I got it to work and it's fast. Work on it :)

Congrats to you? It's not like they're hard to get anymore. The Gamestop across the street from me has a whole pile of them sitting in the corner, and the Target next to them has 6 sitting in the cages now.

I think it would have been a better idea to wait for the games worth playing to be released, because they might be released on the 360, which is cheaper. It's your money, though.

the 360 is not cheaper. Wireless Network Adapter is $100 for 360 on line play is $50 a year for the 360 the hd dvd player is $200 for the 360 Play and Charge Kit with the Rechargeable Battery for the wireless Controller is $20 a peace and the Xbox 360 Pro is 400 add that together it is $770 and all that the is included with the ps3 and the ps3 is $600 so the xbox 360 is $170 more then the ps3 and you get a 60 gb not a 20 gb. and alot of good games will be out in march.

Wireless Network Adapter is $100 for 360
Not everyone needs wireless, besides wired is superior to wireless, it's obviously a much more stable connection with perhaps way better speed.
Wireless < Wired connection... all day everyday.
the hd dvd player is $200.
Not even 25% of homes have a HDTV so the fact that it's an OPTIONAL add-on is a good thing. CHOICE.

the ps3 and you get a 60 gb not a 20 gb.60 gigs??? I have game saves, 12 arcade games, 13 cd's, 4 demo's, HD trailers... all on my 20gb harddrive...and guess what I still have 9.9 gb's of space left! What the hell do I need more space for???
the on line play is $50 a year for the 360.
well....thats like 4 bucks a month for the best online service out there. If you don't like paying that than maybe you shouldn't being buying consoles that cost of hundreds of dollars with games that cost $60 a piece...and with all the cool accessories...thats where companys really make their $$$.
the ps3 is $600 so the xbox 360 is $170 more then the ps3.
If you get a 360 for more than a PS3 you're ok because you got the better system. :urowned:

Hooded beat me to it. None of the stuff you listed is need-to-have, #1buczfan. You don't need online capabilities with the consoles, and you certainly don't need the HD-DVD player.

Like I said, it's your money. Do what you want. I still think it would have been wiser to wait until the PS3 had some games worth playing. No sense in buying the console if all you're going to do is watch movies on it.

Someone let #1buczfan know how much HDDVD and Bluray movies cost. ;) and the PS3 doesn't even include an HDMI cable, not even HD component cables! LMAO... which is funny because PS3 games are HD and it has an HD movie player. Yet no HD cables...

I have an HDTV and I'm not going to buy into the HD movies yet. They are too expensive for just movies... I'm perfectly fine with regular DVD's at the moment.

By the time HD movies get mainstream, On Demand Services (through cable, satellite, and internet) will have surpassed the need for discs. Physical discs are a dying breed. Well, that's just one software engineer's opinion of it at least.

And as for the 50 dollars per year for Xbox Live, it is an incredible value for the price. The quality is still leap years in front of Sony. After all, Microsoft is a software company and Sony is not.

Because those specific Sony fans are very ignorant. They buy into a lot of crap they read and hear.
They really don't know much of anything, let's just put it that way.

I'm a gamer, not a 360 lover. I fully intend on purchasing a Wii and if I can manage the price, a PS3. I speak from an unbiased standpoint despite the fact that I own a 360. Hell, I've been through 3 Xbox360s due to some bad luck. You'd think I'd have given up on the damn thing.

Simply put, each system has strengths and weaknesses. The PS3 has the potential to be the most powerful, and comes jam packed with BluRay, already has an HDMI port, and wireless networking. The 360 has a superior online service, as well as a better game selection (currently), and is easier for developers to develop for. The Wii is an entirely new gaming experience.

Obviously, there is a big difference in price for each system. PS3 is the most expensive, but it definitely lacks flexibility. The 360 offers you more flexibility, but if you add in the wireless networking piece and the HD DVD, you wind up with a system more expensive than the PS3. I don't like it when people are fanboys of either system and are blind to what the other systems do better. Fact is, each system has their strengths and weaknesses and the gamer must decide which system fits his wants and needs the best. There is no perfect system, only the right system for the right gamer.

So don't be a fanboy, be a gamer.

Same here. I know that will be hard for some of you to believe.

I mean if I'm playing a PS3 game and it's good, I'm not going to say "Eh, but it's PS game." No if I like the game I will want to play it more on my own Sony system. It's just right now I don't see a lot of good in the Sony games... people always say that great games are coming out in March or whatever. I look at the list of games and I don't think so. The 360 has a lot of the same games and they are superior. The exlusives out now for MS and the ones on the way kills what Sony has, IMO.

Playstation fans ALWAYS say they are looking forward to the games coming out in the near future... they think they are the only ones looking forward to the future games for their system. They definitely forget that Xbox fans are ALSO looking at a great line-up of games...when the line-up is already great. The 360 exclusives definitely look better than Sonys.

So I really don't have the time to want to play a PS3 because I am playing better stuff on my 360. A year from now and beyond, it will probably be the same exact way.

Hooded you don't fail to amaze me with your anti sony and pro 360 posts. We got it...you think 360 is so much more superior. Anyway I will disagree with you on the lineup of games on 360 being better than sony. 360's games don't interest me much. Theres Gears and Halo 3 (which the first 2 didn't impress me much) and maybe a few decent titles. Sony on the other hand has better exclusive games like Final Fantasy, MGS4, Motorstorm, GT, Killzone, Devil May Cry 4, and Heavenly Sword plus whatever is going to be on both consoles. Buczfan enjoy your PS3 and don't let the haters tell you otherwise.

I have a 360 and i like it, though it freezes up on many games. I think they sold me one that was returned or something and they did a good job repacking it. Its still a great system, but Ive been curious about the ps3 since i was a ps2 person for such a long time. Let me know how it works out!!!! Congrats!

Every console is going to get some good exclusive titles, but there are more good ones for 360 that you haven't mentioned. Here's a link to a good list of everyone's exclusive titles:

http://www.gamingtarget.com/article.php?artid=6143

360 already has Oblivion, Lost Planet and Gears, but also coming are Alan Wake, Fable 2, Forza 2, Mass Effect, Shadowrun, Splinter Cell 5, Too Human and PGR4. All of those are AAA titles. In sheer numbers, the 360 also has more exclusives than PS3.

However, this again falls back to the argument, get the best game system for you. If you are a huge Final Fantasy fan, there is no way you can't get a PS3. Same could be said for Halo fans with 360s. Personally, I don't think the winner of this console war will be won on exclusives alone. Online play will be the true deciding factor.

360 is so much more superior.
Coming from a game programmer's perspective, it is.

I'm not a 360 fan, either. Heck, I don't have one. I play on my friends' 360 when I feel the need to. I'm perfectly happy with my XBox, Wii and PC. And, PCs are far, far superior to consoles, in my opinion. Especially for the games I enjoy playing: FPSs, RTSs and MMOs.

I had that happen twice, but never had to pay a dime to get it fixed. Microsoft did extend all warranties for a full year after it was originally only 6 months. Did you try and get it fixed or did you just give up on it?

My 360 is a launch system and it still works like a champ. I bought a 2 year warranty from Microsoft for 39.99... because that is the smart thing to do if you buy an expensive game console. Whenever I get a PS3 I will get a warranty for that too.

And yes Microsoft did extend the warranty 1 year for everyone. So for 3 years I'm covered.

Yup. And here's the thing... most of the games I bolded on the 360 list are Premium A++ games.

Like Mass Effect, Bio Shock, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Fable 2, Forza 2, Too Human, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Splinter Cell 5..... those games right there I am 100% going to buy, they aren't just your average exclusives... they are "KILLER APPS".

I know, that my point. how can they afford to lose $200 on every ps3 they sell?

They can't, the only reason they came out with the PS3 was to try and prevent the video game market from slipping even further away. It's a gamble that they've decided to take.

SEBBA
01-25-2007, 09:54 PM
slipping away from sony? why couldnt they just build something w/o the blue ray, that costs at least 100 on its own in the system. they went overboard

Yeah, think about it. If you were a huge Sony guy and they had waited another year to come out with the system, you might be a little more inclined to just grab an XBOX 360. While they may lose 200 dollars on each sale of the PS3, I can guarantee after a year of ownership( i.e. buying extra controllers, games and other accessories) they will have made a profit off of the initial sale.

HoodedChampion

Sony is loaded with $$$ too. They sold a gazillion PS2's... people in Japan build houses out of them.

SEBBA
01-25-2007, 10:08 PM
but sony is also paying to make the accessories. and sony doesnt really make any games that I know of...

They make money off of everything they sell. They wouldn't sell a product if they knew that they would lose money (over the long run). As for the games, they make a royalty off of EVERY game sold running on the console.

Thats why I have TIVO to download entire episodes and seasons on my system. Don't know about you but I use my system for games and demos and Blu Ray, which already is starting to beat out other formats. Can you browse the internet and stream videos on it? I can easily go and switch out my harddirve but unless you are planning on putting ungodly amounts of stuff on your harddrive it isn't necessary to have a million GB drive.
