Do other CDs/Games work? Or is it all of them?

If it's just the one CD, either the XBOX doesn't recognize the format, or what's on the disc, or the CD is unrepairable.

I would say its a problem with the dvd drive. Maybe try using a dvd rom lens cleaner cd.

Thats caused by moving the console while the disc is in the tray.

Mine was laying down on a glass shelf for the longest time after it ate my Oblivion game. Then i started having problems with it over heating. I unplugged it, took the cover off and got the little bit of dust out, and let it sit for a couple days. Then i stood it back up and out of the way of any traffic, never had my overheating problem again, until i layed it back down on the shelf after a couple days. I figured that had to be my problem, so mine is standing up, where i have no problems. You just have to be really careful, it spins the cd like 7+ times faster than a normal cd-rom or dvd player.

Something like that.

On a side note, do you guys set your X-Box 360 upright, or flat? I heard from most, including tech-assistance, that it is better to lay it flat. But I have had it for a while now, and have not had any probs with it.

And my buddy had to return his X-box a few weeks ago, it just locked up. They sent him a pre-paid box to package it in, they sent him a new one in 5 days. Good luck dude.

Oh, and when I laid it flat, I put four wood coaster on each of the corners to elevate it a little to prevent overheating. And I have the power box elevated off the ground with an old CD storage rack to keep it as free from heat as possible. Plus the intercooler.
