Pretty good team. That secondary would be amazing in real life! (minus the fact that most of those players in 2009 would be old as crap)

In NCAA Football 2007 I have a USF Bulls dynasty (in my 5th year with them now) that is pretty much unbeatable. I won back to back National Championships with them (playing on Heisman difficulty), and now that they're a 6-star prestige school, I can recruit pretty much whoever I want. The last off-season recruiting session netted me four 5-star players, and fifteen 4-star players. I got invited to the ACC after my first National Championship, at the expense of Virginia.
There's no point in me listing all my players, since I'd have to list all their stats, too, since they're computer generated, so I'll just list the notables:
I like speed on both sides of the ball. My QB has an 83 speed, since I like running the Option. My running back is balanced, since I usually need to run over people. I have only one fast WR on my active roster (rest have a speed of 88 and below), but I just recruited and red-shirted a guy with a 99 speed. My offensive line and TEs are all great blockers. My RB and 95 speed WR are my offensive impact players.
On the defensive side of the ball, I have a 6'8 240 pound RE with an 80 speed. My LE is slightly undersized, but still fast. My DTs are huge. My LBs are undersized, but fast, and are still good tacklers. My LOLB is a 99 overall, and is my defensive impact player. My CBs all have a 96+ speed, so I rarely have to worry about being burned. My FS and SS have a 90 and 91 speed respectively. All my DBs are great catchers, too, so picking off passes usually isn't a problem.
My recruiting pipeline stretches Florida, Alabama, Texas, Pennsylvannia, Ohio and California. That's probably the biggest reason why it's so easy to recruit. Most of the great players come out of these states.
It's funny, too, since the teams in these states are suffering because I'm sucking all the recruits out of their pipelines. Florida hasn't been ranked since I started They lost 6 games in the 2006-2007 season, and got worse from there, and Miami has only been ranked once or twice. Florida State became a powerhouse again, though. Penn State is dominating the Big 10 with Iowa, and USC keeps managing to lose to 1AA teams. This usually leads to teams like Northern Texas or some-such breaking into the Top 25.

Buc88,
I can't beleive you can afford that team, the OL and defense are sweet and I can't believe Alstott and Barber haven't retired.
I'm just finishing up my 08 season, I'm in the playoffs now, and am hoping Alstott comes back (he has 3 consecutive 1,000 yards seasons! :)).

I'm in '09 or '10, and boy do I have a loaded roster. I have Byron leftwich at quaterback rated 99. Chad Johnson and Randy Moss are the notables at reciever both rated 99. Antonio Gates as my tight end rated 99, Reggie Bush in the backfield in the mid 90s... My offensive line has almost all upper 90s with the likes of steve hutcheson, shaun andrews, marvel smith, McClure, and someone else.
On defense I have four CBs over 90, AJ hawk (90s), Larry Foote (90s), Will witherspoon (90s), and Ernie Sims(90s), who I have at left defensive end and is rated 99 there. My DTs are Shaun Rogers, Dan Wilkinson, and Grady Jackson. Safeties Bob sanders and Josh Bullocks (90s). My team overall is 95 and I have 13 million cap room. Not to mention I'm in the same franchise with 4 other people and their teams so I can't exactly monopolize the player market.

Im In year 9, So 2015
QB Chris Simms 13 yr pro OVR 99
Backup QB Tim Warren (Drafted rnd 3 pick 15), now a 4 yr pro OVR 99
Drafted a Rookie (Rnd 1 pick 29) who is a OVR 89 So I got 2 studs to fight for the job after Simms retires.
RB James Hendon OVR 99(Created Myself) after I drafted a huge RB who could block so I edited him to FB (Dedric Epps) 2 yr pro OVR 89
I have 4 WR's who are under 27 yrs old, all drafted in between 1st and 2nd rnds, and all OVR 90-99. Also Micheal Clayton OVR99
Alex Smith is my TE at OVR96
Davin Joseph is my RG at OVR 99 and the rest of my o-line is at OVR 92-99 and all drafted between rnd 1 pick 31 and rnd 4 pick 28.
My style of building defense is truelly a Madden Trick.
I draft strong yet fast LB's and the best LB will stay at LB but the guy who's strong and maybe a 70-80 speed I'll Edit him to be a DT or DE depending on his Strength
Trick is to sign your pick as a LB long term then switch him to D-line cuz a $2 million LB is a $5 million D-Lineman. So you dont want to resign him for a while.
My defensive lineman are all OVR 99, but they're also 4-8 year pro's and starting out at normally high 80's to begin with. It is a cheap yet very effective way to build a great defense fast cuz a 6 rnd LB might be a OVR 85 D-Lineman, So don't hate.
My LB core is my youngest unit. Derrick Brooks just retired 2 yrs ago. And His 25 yr old backup for a year jumped from a OVR 79 to OVR 99 in 1 yr behind Brooks and 1 full year starting. My mlb was rated a OVR 68 but his attributes were so sexy I gave him a shot at starting and at 22 he is OVR 93. My LOLB is 26 and OVR 93. Everyones Attributs look like this, Speed, ACC, AGI, AWR,TAK from right to left is...ROLB 88,92,81,99,87. MLB 87,82,85,94,85 LOLB 87,85,75,99,78
My CB's are sick to. I have two 7 year pro's that I drafted between 1st and 3rd rnd. Their both at OVR 99 and are both 99 speed. I just drafted a kid in the 3rd rnd who is also a 99 Spd and he in 2 yrs pro is at OVR 88. My FS is a 9 yr pro from FSU, and he has been at OVR 99 since he was 25. He has won Defensive player of the year twice. My SS is a 8 yr pro and is at OVR 99 and was drafted in the 4th round from of The U.
I don't make trades to gather picks or to get rid of money. I try to use what I get fairly. I'm not saying I never traded anyone for picks but I don't do it year in and year out cuz most of the time I don't get in return. The guy doesn't turn out to be my type of guy.
I have Joe Barry as my head coach and Joey Galloway as my OC. Shelton Querles is my DC and Ronde Barber is my Teams coach.
Jon Gruden retired after his fourth Super Bowl victory and came back this year to the Carolina Panthers. I tried to sign him as my OC but he declined.
My method to this games franchise mode has spanned since '99. Which I believe was the first year they introduced the Fran. mode. In the Owner Mode I max out all the prices for food, parking, appearel, and drop the ticket prices to balance it out. after a few years of winning my fans are now paying far above league average ticket prices and of course maxed out everything else... Anyone do the same type of things???

Geez. You guys are a lot better at playing the FA pool, trades and drafts than I am in Madden. I stink at all of those. Heck, I don't think I've ever traded or used the FA pool on my franchises. (I don't have a franchise in '07, though.)
I'm much, much better at the offseason stuff in NCAA 2007 than I am at the ones in Madden. (I can't do the QB spring training drills to save my life...) Plus, the Spring game in NCAA 2007 is a lot of fun.

Oh I forgot to mention one thing. Instead of hoarding draft picks like many people do I find it easier to do the opposite. Draft picks cost too much money, especially for first rounders, for players to be backups. So what I do is trade for someone who is good but still has a couple cheap years left on their contract.

All of the Next Gen Madden games have been sub par. Way too many stupid glitches (IE, 25+ DEs going in the first round and very few decent players at other positions). Not to mention the lack of gang tackling and the continued existence of running in place.

[QUOTE=Clayton80future]I let great players go and start over. Having a bunch of players over 90 gets extremely boring.
My teams run about 11-5 to 14-2 consistantly. Hey my first 3 years were all rebuilding the Bucs so WTF how can this kinda success be Boring? It's not boring to me cuz I've built my team thru the draft and I do have some project players on my team. I dont sign any free agents at all. I let the other teams fight for them. I draft and sometimes trade block great players that I don't need like a QB. So I help the league by doing this and not signing FA's. The only time I look in the free agent pool is after the draft. Some teams draft but don't sign good players I.E. My last offseason I picked up a drafted but unsigned MLB who was a OVR 81 spd is 76 str is 91 acc is 88 agi is 79 awr is 71, now I edited this guy into a DT and changed his weight from 245 to 265, Hey I asked him to bulk up a little. Now he is a OVR 91 DT. I do unfortunetly have two stud players in front of him, so I'm glad I signed him to a 3 year deal because when he becomes a Resticted FA I will low-ball him a contract in hopes someone tries to sign him away and will have to compensate me with draft picks. Dawg seems to think I play this on easy, because my team is OVR 97 on both sides of the ball. Yea I've won 4 SuperBowls in 9 years I'm really getting the red carpet treatment. Seems to me Dawg just sucks at Madden Franchising. Can't touch this.

See that's the stuff I'm glad to know cuz franchise is the only way I play offline. So I would be ****ed. One thing I don't like about my ps3 is it doesn't display my PS2 Madden 07 in 16:9 scan and cuz I play on a 56 inch HD it sucks to look at a 4:3 scan so I have to literally pull my PS2 out just to play 07, so I was wanting to get the PS3 07 because of this inconvienence but now I'm thinking it really isn't worth it.

At first I didn't think I'd like this mode, but it is a really nice change of pace. I really like how you have limited vision and see through the eyes of the player rather than seeing the entire field.
I only have one guy going -- a QB for the Raiders.

Bro I played the SS mode twice it so freaking boring to me. Just a waste of perfectly good disc space. Though it is a GREAT!! idea it has inept execution. The most exciting thing is searching for parents DNA. The rest of it is just monotenous.
Legacy
02-08-2007, 12:00 PM
Actually, I think searching for parent's DNA is monotonous. It's bad enough finding a parent set that gives you the right position, but it's far worse trying to get a combo that gives you a decent player to start.
Personally, I think playing FS in SS Mode has helped me a lot at defending passes. I used to be the absolute worst person in the world at manually defending passes. I'd just let the computer do it for me. Now, I can manually defend against the pass without screwing it up every time. I still need some work at it, but I'm much, much better than I was before.

The whole mode from the training camps to the interviews, movies, siming to each game it just puts me to sleep. ZZZZZ's. When I played (one) season I was a FS. FS is my fav position while playing anyways and in SS mode didn't keep my attention cuz you can't control the rosters. I like Superstar mode, but I think EA half assed it and didn't implement it intuitively. I know you're studying to be a game developer, so you know how important that is. The camera is really just awful. While I understand you should have limited vision, it should be a user controlled camera. I see two options for controls.
FPS Style - Use the left stick for forward, backward, strafe left, strafe right. Right stick for look up, look down, turn left, turn right.
2nd Style - Use left stick for directional movement (push stick where you want to go), and the right stick for head movement (push stick where you want to look).
I think they need to introduce tutorials on how to play positions as well. For ex, as a WR, they need to learn when to turn their head around and look for the ball. Finding the ball should be the #1 priority. Also, it would help if they revamped the QB AI so that he wouldn't be forced to throw it before a route has developed. He should have to wait for certain receivers until they've hit particular points in their route (ie, after the double move on a post-corner route so he doesn't throw the post while you've already turned to the corner).
Sorry, I started ranting there. Bottom line, Superstar mode remains a great idea, with poor implementation.

I actually like this about SS mode. In Franchise Mode it is too easy to quickly figure out how to exploit the management stuff and build unstoppable teams (like the ones listed in this thread). If you play Franchise Mode you have to "control" stuff yourself to make it realistic and make sure you don't propose trades that wouldn't really be accepted in real life. I just don't see the fun in making a team with all starters at 95+...it doesn't happen in the "real world" so why do it in the simulated one? Likewise, in Franchise Mode you can quickly figure out your dozen "go to" plays that the computer (on any level) has a hard time stopping. In SS mode you have to deal with the play given.
By no means am I saying SS is the best mode or without its flaws, but there are some cool things about it.

Your right it's not fun to make a team of all 95's if you do it in 2-3 years, but if you do it over 9 offseasons then you wouldn't feel the way you do. It's not my fault that I drafted good players and while playing under super stars like A. Smith and Clayton, and Brooks, Barber, Simms, alot of these players progressed much faster and greater than I thought they would. I didnt manipulate any teams or trade up or down in the 1st or 2nd rounds at all in 9 seasons, so I did it the most realistic I could. I've won 4 SB's in 9 years so it's not like I'm handed every SB. My team lost in the playoffs after going 13-3, but as long as I'm there I'm happy.

Nowhere have I said the game is too easy and that it is easy to go 16 - 0. I play on All Madden with sliders favoring the computer at about 70 to 30 (except on special teams and WR catching). If they were at 100 to 0, I'm not sure I could win a game except by doing stupid cheese stuff.

Thanks for the tip. try playing All-Madd with the A.I. pushed up for the Com. all of it maxed out. It becomes really difficult to run the same 3-5 plays repetively. You show them your 3rd and 10 play and it gets the opposite defensive call the next 3rd and long, almost everytime.

Yea I understand I keep the sliders at 100 Comp and 50 human except for my RB abilty is at 75. But your right it's to easy to have Leftwich and Shockey and Merriman and Bush...Etc. I remember my first two years in my game Bush and J. Peppers, Brees, Shockey, Portis, Clements, Peyton freakin Manning were all on the FA list. I signed none of them. But could have gotten most if not all and had an extremely fake football team. My team now might be highly rated but I built it thru the draft not FA's.

I'm just in year 4 but one weird thing I have found is the college draft. The first year, 9 of the top 10 players (according to Kiper's ratings) were DE's. They all came in rated between 80 and 88 their rookie years to start. The highest rated guy that wasn't a DE was only 75, the best QB.
Nearly the same thing happened in years 2 and 3. 7 of the 10 were DE's.
I wonder if this happens to everyone.

I dont remember bro. Really, I can't think of the place where you would look at Kiper's top 10 picks. I guess I have my own thing and don't care much for what the game says. One thing I do hate is when I'm looking at a player his speed is 4.2 but when I draft and sign him he's 85-89 speed. So I guess the scouts are idiots too. I find that the scouts are right about everything except speed.

Here's a challenge to all you so called "Madden Gurus".....create a team and assign the roster to Cupcake. Start a franchise with this team and try to win a game the first year on All-Madden without signing any free agents. Feel free to lie to me and say you destroyed to computer, because I don't care how good you are, when you're best player is a 75 quarterback who can't throw more than 14 yards downfield and doesn't know what accuracy is, then you become good at the game. Play a few seasons like that and I can make Adrian McPherson and Bruce Gradkowski look like Warren Moon and Peyton Manning. PS, if you average over 3 yards a carry, throw for more than 15 touchdowns on the year, or break 1,000 yards rushing, then feel special. I've gotten them all in the same year ONCE.

Mine's got Fran Tarkenton, Herb Adderley, Barry Sanders, and some other kick *** guys... oh yea, its got Lee Roy Selmon baby! In the first play of the 2006 season against the Ravens, Selmon smacked the ball out of McNair's hands and Derrick Brooks returned it for a TD!

Well, I created a team and used the Cupcake roster set up. No one over 72.
Anyways so far after 4 games I'm 2-2. I play on all madden with the CPU sliders all the way up. And mine lowered to 1/4. Pretty difficult.
EDIT: Didn't see Bucsnots? post. I always did this and play with European teams when playing a Play Now game if I'm bored.
I can't run worth **** with the team. Like he said its hard to win games. I resort to dink and dunk passes all the way up and down the field and try all out blitz's to get anything on D. Occasionally I can pick one off its rare though.
Has anyone noticed that the PSP madden franchise mode is more realistic? Not as many really good players get cut and real good young players are hard to obtain.
