when you're playing your franchise and you're either on all-pro or all-madden and you've started the season like 5-0 or 6-0, you'll just hit a game where its generally a rivalry game and you'll have like 0 chance of actually winning?
i was playing my game, i'm in year 2 of the franchise and i'm 6-0 and playing the steelers
i've got a 14 point lead going into the 4th quarter and all of the sudden it starts happening
i ended up losing the game by a TD, all of the sudden my WRs are dropping passes, my DBs are missing INTs and getting burned easier, and not to mention the 5 fumbles lost in one quarter

are you playing as the browns??
yes
but that doesn't matter
had no problem beating the steelers and bengals and 4 other teams, play the steelers for the 2nd time around and all of this starts happening

try switching playbooks before the second game
it isn't the playbook
i was up 14 going into the 4th, everything was going good, then all of the sudden like wide-open drops, droughns fumbled twice, i benched him for harrison and he fumbled, perkins fumbled a kick return and even owens(who i signed in the off-season) fumbled a ball after a reception

This has happened to me too. It's seems like a case of "catch-up AI", which is usually found in racing games and sports games. Really, really annoying stuff.

Yeah. It's one of the reasons I hate Madden. It's not even subtle. It's blatant AI cheating.
It's funny, too, since NCAA Football 2007 doesn't have this problem, even though they're both made by the same game studio. I routinely orchestrate last minute comebacks in that game. (I beat FSU 17-16 on a field goal with 25 seconds left, and OSU 28-24 on a TD with 15 seconds left using the USF Bulls.)

It's terrible on Madden. Catch-up AI (also called Rubber band AI) was also insane in Burnout 3 and the old NBA Jam for the SNES. Such ridiculous cheapness.

Burnout 3? That's a good game. Too bad it only took me a week and a half to unlock every car.

I like the Burnout games, but they are pretty shallow in terms of longevity. Good for a rental, but it can get pretty boring after awhile.

The absolute worst cases of Rubber band AI are in the Mario Kart games. Just brutal catch-up AI.

actually burnout revenge had some good longevity, and a pretty good soundtrack.

I have Burnout: Revenge, but I haven't played it much. I don't like the graphics on it. The lighting effects are overdone to the point where it's extremely difficult to see what's ahead of you.

Madden is notorious for this type of AI. It sucks but it's just how the game attempts to "keep it real"
Blah blah blah, try making a better game instead.

push A, go down to "simulate game", repeat
that should fix your problem

What the hell is the point of having the game, then?

Playing online or some of us have these things called friends that we play against. Surely not playing against the AI. I guarantee I could go through 30 years of a franchise and not lose a single game if I played every game.

Then turn the game up to All-Madden and adjust the sliders to heavily favor the AI team. You can actually make the computers pretty damned good, but dawgland is right that the computer's cheating ruins the game.
Personally, I don't play online, so the smartness level of the AI opponents is a big factor for me. (And subsequently the reason why I haven't touched Madden in months. NCAA Football 2007 far, far superior to Madden in pretty much every aspect of the game.)

Wow, old school. I remember times in NBA Jam where I would be up by 8-10 points (which is a lot for that game) and having opponents hit three or four 3-point shots in a row after stealing the ball from me on the inbound passes in a span of about 15 seconds. It was either that or having the AI hit full court shots as if they were lay-ups as time expired. Frustrating!

I doubt you can on all-madden
depends on the sliders, who you play with, who is on your team.....
possible but its tough.

so you have the online friends
now you need to work on getting real ones
