... and yet another thread, too. :D

I will continue to beat my drum on why we absolutely cannot pass on a once in a decade talent if he is there at the 4th pick:

[edit]
Correction to the story. CJ measured in at 6-5 239 lbs at the combine, not 6-4 225 lbs.

Fitzgerald, Tomlinson, and Bush have all been in the 2000s so unless you don't plan on another guy this good coming out for the next 10 years, he's not a once in a decade player

A few paragraphs here too... http://nflexperts.scout.com/2/621398.html

Says he has "no doubt" he will run 4.4 in the forty and may crack into the 4.3 range..

I meant a once a decade player at his position, not the entire NFL. Fitzgerald is a great player, but not even close to Calvin Johnson.

you must not remember when Fitzgerald came out then

Fitzgerald was a very highly regarded player, and was just as high, if not a higher rated prospect than Calvin

No, he wasn't, Fitzgerald had legit questions about his speed and even after he posted a sub-4.5 40 at his personal workout he still isn't considered a real big time deep threat. CJ is. In terms of everything except deep speed and size, these two are equal, but CJ is bigger and CJ is faster (most likely).

definately not, don't let the hype for CJ fool you

Calvin is faster in the 40, but doesn't have the change of direction quickness that fitz had, and fitz made every single cut look fluid, his route running was better than CJs is now, not that its a knock on CJ, fitz ran routes in college like rice ran them in the pros.

and fitz was known also to have amazing concentration when the ball is in the air, CJ is said to have sort of a braylon edwards syndrome in a sense that he'll make the highlight reel catch that just has people saying "WOW", but he'll let an occasional easy ball and miss-play it because he's thinking about what to do next. Fitzgerald was always ball first, run 2nd.

They are very close in rating but Fitz still gets the nod, but like i said, thats not a knock on CJ, he's still the #1 player in the draft

dawgland, you cant even say you know what you talk about when you say stuff like this. NFL scouts have consistently said CJ is the highest rated WR prospect in 10-15 years. LF, while highly lauded before draft day, didnt have close to the same statements by the scouts.
