The talk of the town is CJ...and rightfully so. I completely agree with the sentiments that this is a watered down class and that after the first four picks (with the exeception of Landry i think he'll be great wherever he goes) there aren't really any worth fighting for. Anyways back to CJ...
Of course he is the target the Bucs should be considering to take with their first pick...with the recent signing of Petitgout, tackle is not a dire need anymore for next year...though in the years after it might very well be a different story... and quarterback has been somewhat solidified so that only leaves reciever. Yes you could argue that the bucs have plenty of depth at reciever, but if you'll recall one of the main reasons the bucs were lacking in big offensive plays and touchdowns last year was the our recievers just couldnt hang onto the ball... Galloway and Hilliard probably has less than 3 seasons left in them and Michael Clayton has produced less each year after his rookie season. Not alot of hope for vast improvement in them. Now, personally i love mister 85 Maurice Stovall...how he fights for yardage after the catch...but i don't know if he'll ever be introduced to a starting role in Tampa. But let me get to the point.....the way of aquiring Johnson should be thought over carefully...
Some think that the Bucs should stay where they are at number four because the other teams dont need a WR...however that wont work because the Browns and the Lions are more than willing to trade down for more picks and if a team were to trade with them they would beat us to the cake...
Others suggest trading up with our first rounder and our second and third round picks...but we also have other needs like safety..(michael griffin from Texas or Eric Weddle from Utah would be a great additions) an eventual replacement for the great A-Train could be available in Brian Leonard...(and yes im sure the Bucs are looking at him)...Obviously defensive line...where we could land someone like Ryan McBean from Oklahoma State...and just to keep this list somewhat short because i know ive probably written an essay by now...an additional back to complement Williams and help in the return game (i love Lorenzo Booker...he'll be this years Drew-Jones) because Pittman is slowin down as well.
Therefore that leaves trading our first rounder and a couple of players to a team such as Detroit... I for one believe that Rice should be kept for another year just because our needs are too great to be shipping him anywhere yet... But Possibly Simms, Clayton, or even one of our lackluster safeties..
BTW feel free to tear this apart im looking forward to hearing any kind of feedback on this
