CJ...but then again we don't have a Moss and we don't have a Porter and we don't have Andrew Walters as our best QB.
As a Raiders fan I would actually hope for Quinn, he seems much more committed than JR and Oakland's coaching changes seem to indicate a form of the WC being installed.

I hope they take CJ so people here will shut up about him. everyone says he is the best player in the draft, but everyone here has these big eyes that 3 teams will pass on him. If he is that great, Raiders will take him with the #1 pick.

we have good depth at the QB position.
they presently don't even have a backup.
no one in free agency wants to go to oakland.
i don't think they have a choice.

If I'm Al Davis, Russell. If I'm not, Quinn... but then I wouldn't want to play nearly as much deep ball, and would focus moreso on completion percentage.

you have 4 back-up QBs on your roster
and oakland does currently have a back-up QB
its the same situation in tampa as it is in oakland
you know you just want calvin johnson to fall when you say oakland needs a QB but tampa doesn't

We both need a good QB, Oakland just needs one more. Garcia > Walters.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say Simms > Walters....
Do I hope he drops to us? yes....
Do I think he will without a trade up? probably not....
Do i still think the raiders would be better off with a QB? yup, and BQ at that.

simms numbers aren't exactly the greatest either
and garcia may be a bit better, but its kind of a longer term thing, you really only have him for 2 seasons at the most
walter has talent, he's still young and was a prolific passer in college, and his game translates to the NFL, he just needs time to throw, and a dominant WR who gives a ****

I won't deny that Simms numbers aren't very good, but the first two games last year had a lot to do with bringing those numbers down.
For 2005, in 11 games (10 started) he was 191 for 313 (61% Comp%), for 2035 yards, 10 TD's and 7 INT's for a QB rating of 81.4.
Andrew Walter:
For 2006, in 12 games (8 started) he was 147 for 276 (53.3% Comp%), for 1677 yards, 3 TD's and 13 INT's for a QB rating of 55.8
Even if you count Simms' poor first two games in '06 he comes out on top, albeit not nearly as much, but given both of those QB's under the same conditions I would still choose Simms.

if i was the raiders i would select WR Calvin Johnson with the #1 overall pick and then with my 2nd pick i would select QB Drew Stanton. I compare him to the next Drew Brees.
Drew Stanton:
~6'3 230 lbs
~2005 (when he actually got to throw the ball)...236 comp-354 att, 3077 yds 22-12 td-int ratio 153.41 rating
~michigan st. (big ten)
Drew Brees:
~6'1 220 lbs
~2000 (last season at purdue)...286 comp-473 att, 3393 yds, 24-12 td-int ratio
~purdue (big ten)

OK..here is the way I think....they should pick Russell and here is why.
1- If they get JR, they would keep moss this means that they have a great reciever and a good qb. If they get CJ, yes, they would have a great wr in him, but a terrible qb in walter. And also, if you want to see your team winning, you want to have moss catching passes from a rookie qb, not a terrible qb throwing the ball to a rookie.

This is easy. I would take Russell for either team. He is a freak athlete at the most important position on the field, you just cant pass on that. Yes CJ is a freak athlete also, but he is a WR.

I'm not an NFL scout, and I have not seen much tape on these guys, but if I'm the Raiders making a mistake at #1 scares me a little. I'd like to slide out of that pick, swap with the Bucs, for their 2nd or 3rd round pick and take either Quinn or Russell at #4.

This is actually fairly simple. IMO, Oakland should take the best player in the draft in CJ. Yes, there is a need for a QB but I don't think they've given up on Walter just yet and Oakland has also taken long looks in the past two weeks at Trent Edwards and Kevin Kolb. So, Oaklans still may go QB but just not with the first pick in the draft. No doubt about it, both Kiffen and Davis have raved about CJ and his ability. Not to mention CJ does fit a need at WR. I know, some of you are thinking we still have Moss. Yes, however Moss is and has never been a complete receive, IMO. Also, we've been trying to unload Moss since the end of February. Porter is on board with Kiffen and looks to rejevenuate his career but even still he isn't the caliber WR that CJ potentially could be. Curry, is a solid slot receiver but not a gamebreaker or a # 1 WR.

A trade down is certainly an option but we would at least want equal value and a second and third still favors you guys. Your first this year, a second and first next year would be a much better deal.

I strongly doubt it has anything to do with snubbing the Bucs. We desperately need a gamebreaker at WR. I have no faith in Randy Moss, anymore. I'll be shocked if he's still there in September.

Very true! However, many in Oakland feel Walter has a shot at being that guy. Especially, Al Davis in which he felt Walter was the top rated QB on the board two years ago. I don't neccessarily agree but hey, to each his own. Also, Oakland is still looking at veteran QB's and possible trades. Oakland just doesn't or hasn't based on history put much stock into grooming young QB's or taking them this high. I just don't get the feeling that they are sold on Russell at this point and that's not a good thing this close to the draft. However, they are sold on Johnson, IMO.

Makes sense to me that they should either take Johnson or move out of that #1 pick. I think we have too many holes to be trading future #1 draft picks or a current year 2nd round pick for that matter. I wouldn't be upset if Thomas fell to the Bucs, but snowball's chance in **** we would take him IMO.

Haven't seen enough of Walter to judge him fairly. Honestly, you can't evaluate him running a stone age break and breakfast offense from the late 80's and that's exactly what we ran a year ago with no running game and an atrocious o-line. Can't really say if Walter is the answer but I will say that I'd like to see him given a chance this year.

I think Okoye is gonna be a dominant player at the next level. Maybe not his rookie season but so much potential. I also like Jamaal Anderson more so then Adams. I think Anderson can be a complete every down DE like Peppers. I like his upside.
