Pat Kirwin: "I got an email from this guy from Brazil, his Uncle is dying and he needs my credit card numbers to get the inheritance into the country, at which point he'll split it with me."

If the Bucs draft Quinn, I will personally punch Bruce Allen in the genitals. Or just mutter angrily and sip a beer, whichever is more convenient.

i'm thinking this is a ploy to try and get a team to think that they may have to trade up if they want brady, because he won't slip past them
i just don't think its a great smokescreen, minnesota or miami may take brady if he falls to them but most likely won't trade up to get him

I just think Gruden throws everything he can at the wall and sees what will stick. Sofar, we have confirmed reports he's taking Quinn. We've heard Adrian Peterson is the greatest RB he's ever seen. JaMarcus Russell is a once in a lifetime talent. Joe Thomas is the only player in the draft with no question marks...Blah blah blah. It might work at misdirecting a few slower GMs, but it gets old as a fan.

This is why I dont jump for joy with even the slightest mention of the draft. Teams will make their selections on the 28th. All of this stupid crap before hand is nothing but speculation and rumors. Its the media trying to hype up the whole draft thing since there is nothing else going on in the world of football. Bucs are only going to take one guy in the first round, they can't have them all. They better make that pick count.

I liked the article though, because this is just my oppinion. It is a chance to get a future ProBowl caliber QB with two great prospects.
I just wouldn't be smart of Oakland and Detroit to pass on Russell and Quinn.
Not more than one of them and Calvin Johnson will probably fall to us. No matter who of them it might be, we got to get him. If we get neither, who said the Coin Toss wasn't crucial?

Exactly. Its much ado about nothing. Something to talk about I suppose, but really the guys have to write something, so they just think up any scenario so they can to get something to press.

I'll be happy with Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson, Okoye, Russell, or Quinn...
The good news is that unless we trade down, try to pick someone who's already taken, or miss the deadline to select, two of these five will be available.
You have a better shot at picking the lotto number than figuring out what Matt Millen and Al Davis will do, mostly because I don't think THEY know what they're doing most of the time.

All I "knows" is that at the end of that article, Kirwan wrote "if he happens to falls".
Grammar check.

I honestly wouldn't mind Quinn here b/c I think a Garcia-Quinn team would be really good. Give Brady a year to learn the system and be mentored. But then what do you do with Simms. You have to trade him. So I don't know. There's so many smokescreens being sent out there it could drive a person nuts if you take them word for word.

Simms might be worth a third or fourth rounder, that's good enough for me if we land Quinn.

I wouldn't be upset, as long as we get rid of Simms. We can't keep all 3 guys. I've been high on Quinn. He didn't have much to work with at Notre Dame. Their o-line stunk. His best year was actually 2 years ago when he had Stovall as his #1 guy, who happens to be here now. And he's been groomed by Charlie Weis, one of the best qb coaches in football. This system would fit him well. But I don't think he'll fall to #4. I think the Lions or Browns grab him.

Has anyone followed Pat Kirwan's mocks and comments on the draft? Within about a two week span he's had us taking 5 different players. Either he's simply making stuff up to keep people reading or the Buc's, and likely other teams, are using him for schnitz and giggles.

Absolutely.
If I remember correctly isn't this the guy that forget Jamaal Anderson in the first 3 or 4 mocks that he did? One of the top 3-4 DL in this draft..........?
I wouldn't take anything he says to heart, and I mean ANYTHING.
That being said if CJ and JT are gone, I'm okay with BQ........Let him learn for a couple years and sort out the roster later on before traning camp........

"The Bucs told me they will take Quinn if he falls to them"
Because we all know how Jon Gruden and Bruce Allen like to tell sports writers about their draft plans.
My guess: Pat Kirwan, you've been Punk'd.

If Johnson is gone and Quinn is there pull the trigger, if not, then we reach for okoye at number four, I am not convinced of Russells work ethic and skill yet, and as for Joe Thomas, he will be a good player but I would rather us end up with a young dl than another olineman.

I absolutely pull my hair out the weeks before the draft! I'd like to think and have thought we're gonna get CJ, however, I dont' want to give up picks to move up and get him. We need TOO much help. Whomever we get will be a pillar of our team or I'd like to think he'd be. A top 4 pick will fill some big holes we currently have.
I think with Garcia temporarily at the helm and Petigout with Davis moving over to LG we can do w/out Thomas OR Quinn. If CJ's gone we need to go for DT or DE. Hello Okoye.

That is exactly what I am feeling. I'd rather have Landry or Okoye.

i strongly feel that QB Drew Stanton (michigan st.) is the steal of the draft. he has huge upside and i compare him to Drew Brees especially since they have the same style and situations coming out of college. 1st pick of the Bucs is a no brainer WR Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech). If he is not available, then they should pick S La'Ron Landry. I understand everyone is like no get DE Gaines Adams or DT Amobi Akoye but secondary has hurt them significantly and I compare Landry as the next John Lynch. They just signed DE Kevin Carter. So this would be a great selection.

Unless, of course, he's in on the joke for whatever reason - maybe he's doing our FO a smokescreen favor in exchange for future consideration.

The same year, he guaranteed Mike Williams over dinner the night before the draft that if he was there, Mike Williams was a Buc.

Michael Clayton?
Davin Joseph? He didn't even meet with the Buccaneers.
and Carnell was the exception to the rule. So you can't even be sure when he is talking about who he wants.
Everyone knows Gruden wants CJ. BQ is not the kid he's been talking about all offseason.

I wanted to put my take in on this subject...
There are a couple scenarios here - Plummer hasnt filed anything with the league in regard to his retirement. I think we have a deal in place with either Detroit or Oakland in some regard.
If its with Oakland, I think its involves a 2nd rounder, Plummer, and either another pick or player... with the two teams swapping picks.
If its Detroit, I think it may be BK or Simeon in a trade scenario bundled with a 2nd round pick.
None of us know for sure whats going to happen, its all smoke and mirrors right now. I for one, will be glad when the rumors end and we get to see who the newest buc will be.
