If Houston thought that Brady Quinn would fall to them at #8 do you think that they would have traded with Atlanta for Schaub?

And if we would have won the coin toss do you think Gruden would have drafted Joe Thomas or maybe pushed a bit harder for a trade with Detroit?

FIrst off, I think the Texans want to win now, they have had their share of waiting for rookie QBs to develop. Though Schaub is hardly an experienced vet, he is ready to play right now. Quinn is at minimum 2-3 years away from being a good NFL QB. Texans still make that move without a doubt.

Losing the cointoss was a good thing for many reasons. We needed to replenish the defense, which we did. There was no question as to who we were going to pick, the other 2 possible choices were gone, and we got him at the #4 overall spot, which meant we will paying Adams about $4-5 million less over the duration of his contract if we had picked him at #3. This is good for us in the future in trying to sign and resign free agents, more money under the cap. As much as I didn't care for Adams before the draft, the Bucs didn't just draft Adams and declare the defense fixed. They kept going defense with 6 more players that have the potential to be solid starters or more in this league for a long time.

I liked what we did in this draft. We've got a ton of youth and athleticism on the defensive side of the ball which is what we desperately needed. I wouldn't have done much differently. This is what my hindsight tells me.

1. Gaines Adams - In a draft class that was considered an "A" at DE in the draft magainzes and websites I visited we drafted the consensus #1.

2a. Arron Sears - I love this pick. I was clamouring for another OG and we drafted a monster! He can line up a LG from day one or can move to RT in a pinch.

2b. Sabby Piscitelli- Has been anointed the next John Lynch. I like his talent but he needs to earn this anointment before we get carried away.

3. Tank Tyler - He would've been a great value pick here. It was/is also a position of need. This is really the only pick i'm disappointed with. I think it was a bit early to draft a project like Black on the 1st day.

day 2 is a crapshoot for me. Only the scouts that do this for a living can speculate on that.

#1 Black's physical skill set fits the Buc defense, slow bodied bad charactered DeMarcus Tyler doesn't. Tyler is too slow, too fat and not overly productive.

Day 2 is far from a crapshoot. Those of us that do our homework already knew about ALL the prospects we drafted with the exception of Adam Heyward, I had heard of him and knew of how he did at his personal workout but didn't know what kind of player he was, I still don't.

Personally I would have been happier with Okoye and then a defensive end like Charles Johnson and then if we really needed another lineman to pick the best one available. I'm just not convinced that Gaines Adams is that much supperior to the other DE's in the draft. Better yes, but how much better remains to be seen. The DT position really needed to be addressed and I thought Okoye would have been a great fit. Let's hope all works out well.

I wasn't a big fan of Adams either, he was basically a 24 year old (6th year out of high school) playing against a bunch of 20 and 21 year olds. Of course he is going to be physically superior to these guys, his body is more mature, he wasn't a teenager.... like last week. But that is the problem I also see with Okoye, not how old he is, but how young. He is 19 years old and we've seen his weight go from 287 at the Senior Bowl in late January to 302 at the combine a month later. THat is a big fluctuation for a month, how much weight do you think this guy will put on just because he is a young kid filling out? Sure, he's a good UT prospect now, but chances are that he'll grow into a NT, not something we should invest a top 4 pick in.

In Adams's defense, he can really run and we need to get more athletic on D, he may be no brain surgeon, or even be able to spell 'brain surgeon' but he can get after the QB. I also didn't like him because I view him as a poor man's Simeon Rice, which we already have, that is redundant to have two pretty good RDE's and not be able to get both of them on the field.... but considering Adams will likely play LDE on obvious passing situations and spell Rice from time-to-time, I can see Adams getting on the field for more than 50% of our defensive snaps... which is more than enough to make a big impact.

Of course anybody can read scouting reports and draw conclusions. You call it homework, I call it you not having a life. I don't know who you think you are but its time for you to step into the real world. You aren't a scout and you are no different than anybody else that reads a scouting report. Its about watching games. How often did you watch Portland State or North Carolina Central??

I'm not him, but here you go:

Clearly, the Bucs and their scouts disagree with you that he would have been a great fit for the team at NT. Maybe they're right, maybe they're not. Personally, I'm inclined to agree with them.

Smart arse. Of course they shouldn't do that. But every draft preview list I have seen has the Tank rated higher than Quincy. The truth about the draft is this.......You can never rank a draft until four or five years down the road. Tank could be better or Quincy could be better. I think both of them will be great players in the future but if we were looking toward players making an immediate impact this year, Tank would've been the way to go.
