View Full Version : Predict the BCS Bowl Teams

Rose Bowl: UCLA vs. Wisonsin
This game could definitely be Cal instead of UCLA, but I think with 20 starters returning, UCLA could make it to a BCS Bowl. I think Wisconsin is the best in the Big Ten, and that they will be Michigan and Ohio State.
Sugar Bowl: LSU vs. West Virginia
I think LSU is a great team, but they also have a tough schedule that has them playing Virginia Tech, Florida, Kentucky, Auburn, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Alabama. I think they will come through there with only one loss. IMO, West Virginia will win the Big East, and come through undefeated, but won't be in the national championship because of a bigger school doing well.
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Florida or Hawaii
This probrably isn't too realistic, but Hawaii has a good chance to go undefeated. Their easy schedule will likely keep them out of this game though. Oklahoma will have a good season, and lose probrably just one or two games and make it to a BCS game. Florida is probrably more likely with a tougher schedule, but maybe a sleeper could come out and take it over.
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Louisville
Louisiville will finish the season with only one loss to West Virginia, but will still make a BCS game because of a very difficult conference schedule. Virginia Tech will go through the ACC undefeated, and will only lose to LSU IMO.
National Championship: USC vs. Texas
USC is definitely the best team in the nation, and they should go undefeated. They will have tough games against UCLA, Cal, and Nebraska, but should probrably come through these games unscathed. Texas has a fairly easy schedule, and as long as they don't hiccup against teams like TCU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, or the high-powered offense of Texas Tech, they should finish undefeated and in the national championship.
This my two cents. It might not be extremely realistic, but I think it could happen. Any opinions? If you think differently, post who you think will be there, I want to hear other people's opinions on this matter.

But they got one of the best RB's in the nation. You're right, but I think they could overcome that.

PJ hill is great but he's all that wisconsin's offense has
and when you look at the other offenses in the big 10, you'll need more than 1 weapon
Its between Ohio State and Michigan, and if there is a 3rd team that competes, don't look now but the University of Illinois will be that team

Yeah, Illinois will be better this year, as long as their QB gets his 39 % completion percentage up.

he doesn't need to be an overly accurate passer
he's a tremendous athlete with a cannon for an arm so he can lenthen the defense, and run underneath

as for this, i'm not going to choose what bowls, but here's the list of teams i'd throw out there for the 5 games
USC vs. Texas for the national championship
Ohio State
Florida St.(a bit of a homer pick but with the new offense, Xavier Lee will be a slimmed down more athletic version of jamarcus russell and the defense is always solid)
hawaii
LSU
Tennessee
West Virginia
as for yours ucla, i highly doubt each of these divisions, pac 10 big 12 and big east, all put two teams in

Big 10 -- Michigan -- finally their year to beat OSU, I think their offense should be able to do enough to win the big games.
Big 12 -- Oklahoma - I think all the suspensions and arrests will hurt Texas, and if McCoy goes down it could get ugly
ACC -- Va Tech -- I think the conference struggles a bit this year again in which case, I'll go with a great defense.
SEC -- LSU -- This one is tough as the SEC could see any of four teams win the conference. I'm going to pick the one with the most favorable schedule.
Pac 10 -- USC -- I can't see them losing in conference. (apart from maybe UCLA)
Big Least -- Louisville -- This will be a shootout between them and WVU. You just as easily put the Mountaineers here.
At larges
TCU - I think they lose a very close one to Texas to get some national respect then win out.
Wisconsin -- a close 2nd or even tied for first with Michigan at 7 - 1 in the Big 10.
Florida -- I think they have enough leftover to make a play for the title game, but will fall just short.
Texas -- will do enough to keep a good record (one or two losses) even though they struggle at times.
The championship game will be:
Oklahoma vs. USC
(both undefeated along with Lousville)

Juice is on the loose!
He is the 2nd coming of Antwaan Randle El (sp?). He will be way too inconsistent to ever let Illinois challenge for the Big 10 (Plus Illinois won't have the talent), but he will be really fun to watch.

i just don't see it with oklahoma, and i'm not quite understanding the hype
their defense is good but not great, they don't have a starting QB, they don't have the game breaking RB anymore, and their WRs are nothing special either

Living in Texas (and hating UT) I couldn't bring myself to pick the Horns, the OU pick is kind of a homer pick (if that is what you call it when you always pick against schools you dislike).
I don't think any teams will dominate the Big XII this year. I think Texas has all the talent but lacks the intangibles. I can see UT, OU or even OSU winning the conference.

You know what, I was thinking that might be stupid, but then I realized that Notre Dame and a small conference team were in the BCS games last year. This year I think HAwaii has a chance to make it into a BCS game, but I think they will ultimately be left out, and no small conference team will make it. Notre Dame is an independent, so that took away a birth from a conference. I also think ND has no chance whatsoever at a BCS game. If there is no small conference team or Notre Dame, I thought it might leave the games open so the bigger conference teams would have a couple teams each. I don't know if that makes sense, but it was my thinking.

i completely forgot about ND, and i'm not sure how their contract works with the BCS
i've always believed that it was if they're in the top 10, they get a BCS bid but i'm not even sure if thats right

No love for the Nittany Lions:mad:.
We're better than Ohio State and we can compete with Michigan. Don't count us out.
We will start off hot. That's a promise.

OSU plays at Penn State this year. It'll be a good game and I do expect the Lions to win.
BucsLJohnson34, as much as I'd love PSU to beat Michigan, it's being played at Michigan, so I don't think it's going to happen.

If it's close.. we can still be in contention for a BCS game. We're only going to lose that game, if we do lose that.
I suspect that another 1 second may be added in our favor this time.

Keep in mind that it is very possible for VT to lose a close one to LSU and still get a bid to the Title Game.

If they lose to LSU I don't see them getting into the title game. It's just a matter that LSU would probably have a better case.

Well if LSU and VT both had one loss, of course LSU would go instead. But, if LSU had two losses, VT would probably get the nod.
