What's worse is they were the better team in both cases! Watching those games over again, it still makes me sick the way USF has been coached the last two weeks. Leavitt is doing a great job building a program, but his game management is ABSURD.

Even then, if we had a half decent FG kicker, he'd have been saved from himself and still be undefeated. What is Alverado, 9-21 now? yikes!

They better offer a scholly to a good kicker this year...

I said it first.

Alvarado is killing us!!!! Damn!!!!!!!!!

I said the above in a post on Saturday during the game. This kid is not going to do it. If he can just make those damn very makable FGs, we're undefeated. As far as a kicker, he is trash. I'm absolutely livid with his "if I kick the ball real hard, maybe it will split the uprights" mentality. It's sickening.

In all fairness to the kid, he wasn't brought here to be a kicker. He was the punter and kickoff guy and when our last kicker sucked (was even worse, can you imagine that?); they asked him to step in. So I can't blame him if there is no one else to do it.

What I can blame is not running balls to the center. Every time, we put the poor kid on the farthest hash mark. EVERY FG that is STRAIGHT ON, he's hit with plenty to spare. So if Leavitt is going to go for a FG, he better just run it up the gut or scrap the idea of the FG all together and play for 4 downs. If they offense knew going in they had all 4 downs, they could hustle up to the line on 4th and they would invariably burn the other teams' timeouts or get a few cheapie quick snaps in.

Leavitt should know we have nothing to lose, so why not take some chances?

Hard to believe out of a school with +44K enrolled, the team couldn't find one person to kick it through the uprights more than 50% of the time.

I agree. I never thought of it like that, but missing from 26 yards. Only Cole Ford is capable of that. And, look what has happened to him.
