I finally started playing this at home last night. I had only played breifly and watched a friend play before that.


Now that i am in control, it's different. It's not that bad of game, decent graphics, gameplay is tight, high paced, and 80% of the time so far it's balanced. I got my first airstrike and uav within my frst couple games.

The first game i played though was a hardcore match where we had to defend/defuse bombs? Was kind of funny because every round i was the last person alive and i just knew the other people watching me were all like, "damn we're doomed". I suprised them though on my best round and bum rushed where i thought the guys were, killed a couple of them while dodging flash bangs and then like a dumb *** ran right into the room with the bomb to be killed by a claymore. The round faded away to a collective "aaaahhhhh you dumb***".... I gained my first couple levels then left to follow a friend into our own party.

One cool thing i like is people weren't hard on me for being a noob. They didn't care they just wanted me to play, and that's different than most games of that type on xbox live. Those types of players are respectable. At the same time smack talk is accepted, but i found maybe 2% of the players i played with last night to be intolerable.

My favorite setup so far is the RPD/red dot, clays, stop power and deep impact.

If i dont use that i use the semi shotgun/red dot (or the m16/red dot), 3 stuns/flash, uav jammer and conditioning. Nothing more exciting to me than running right into a pack of them.

I'm either camping, or i'm right in their face point blank.

My best match was a 19 and 3 with an 18 streak so far. By the time i got to 18 in a row i couldn't handle my excitement anymore and got killed by a martyr. It's actually Killa's fault i got killed. :rolleyes: Hey i've still only been playing for less than a week.

I'm level 36 or 7 by now. Going to get in the zone tonight. Should have a guy in my party that is on his 9th prestige. Anyone is welcome to come join the fun. I will never come close to my 3600 kills/0 deaths in one online match on Unreal Championship, but ill get a hell of alot better than 19/3. ;)

I never went through prestige mode because I'm trying to get 150 headshots with each gun. I'm about 1/2 way there, I do have 150 kills with all non-sniper guns and most of the guns I don't have 150 headshots with yet, I'm around 60 - 80.

Any short range gun (P-90, Uzi, MP-5) with silencer, 3 Frags, UAV Jammer and Extreme conditioning. I try to stay fairly far away from my teammates (otherwise UAV Jammer can be pointless) and guess which way the enemy is going to run at them.

I recommend you try the M4A1 or an F90 with Double Tap and Deeper Bullet damage = Sick!

29 is pretty darn good. I have had four streaks of 20 but always seemed to get killed as soon as I see the "Blaze 84 has a kill streak of 20!"

Lately i have switched to a g36/red dot with 3 frags, stopping power and conditioning. When i unlock it i will use dead silence instead of conditioning, only a couple more levels and i'll have it. Certain boards (crash, crossfire and bog) i still use the RPD/red dot with 2 clays, stopping power and deep impact.

Soon i think my stealth setup will be a p90/silencer, 2 clays, uav jammer and dead silence. (for hardcore search and destroy)

When used with good accuracy, it is the most dangerous weapon in the game no doubt.

It is unbelievably powerful long range.

I usually only die with it when a guy with a shotgun blasts me from five feet away. But, that's why I have my last stand perk.


Perfect combination for me.

I have a 1.36 K/D ratio and have a 1.29 W/L ratio online on the 360.

Creek - Albanian type map in a forrest setting with a creek running through the middle of mountains. If you played maps from SOCOM: Combined Assault it's very similiar. This map will be a Snipers paradise and Guillie suits will be very effective.


Broadcast - An expanded version of the Iraq TV Station mission in the Single Player game. Air Strikes will be very ineffective except for any enemies on the roof.


Chinatown - A well lit San Francisco Chinatown street. Urban combat in neon lights.

Killhouse - An expanded setting of the training mission in the beginning of the Single Player game. Warehouses galore

The new "update" came out last night, and OBVIOUSLY everyone and their mother was playing it, because the system was lagging like a son of a *****! I like the views of seeing the grenades and bombs falling on you, and the fact that no one can change their clan tag font and screw with the colors to something that really did take away from the game.

I think they may have made some hacking adjustments too. For EXAMPLE, there is/was a guy on there that had 2,212,835 kills and 9,300 deaths! No ****ing way is that guy that good! The game hasn't been out that long! His ratio was something to the effect of 180.5. Yeah, no hack job there right?! Douche bags like that make gaming online unenjoyable for those that like to play the game in it's simplicity and original format. *******s like that should be banned from playing online anywhere in the world..... :mad:

I had COD4 for the PS3 and got rid of it because of the hacked manipulated names as well as the lack of Mics. That wouldn't happen on the 360. Nonetheless, it's nice to see the PS3 Users finally get their patch. The Airstrike Kill-Cam is awesome

Yeah on the xbox it's the same. People with 2 million kills and 4000 deaths with a streak of 2... but it's a given they are a hack, so what? It's always been that way. Just makes it alot more special when you finally break that top 100, because you know you really made it to about the top 50, and so does everyone else.


edit: on a side note, i have taken my kill/death ratio from .6 to almost 1.1 in my second week. I'm getting better, but i prefer to play free-for-all now. I still wouldnt mind putting together some kind of team from the mb though. Never know what it could turn into. They actually had a real live draft for the major league gaming community recently, those people are getting paid salaries and travelling the world to play video games.

edit2: forgot... i have been knocking those elite challenges out as fast as i am getting them. Last night i killed 2 people and stabbed another one right in the middle of the top of his head all while almost dead on Wetworks. That last guy must have LOVED that replay. :D The only one i can't understand is the Airborne challenge, except maybe a miraculous noob-tube while base jumping on hardcore??? Have any of you all got it yet?

How in the hell did you break a compact disk?
if you move the xbox practically at all, you can get ring-around-the-disc, which will let you start the game sometimes, but the disc is unreadable. so if you are moving youre xbox, TAKE OUT THE DISC!

Despite an earlier bulletin on XboX Live that said the maps will be released on April 3rd. The new Call of Duty 4 Map Pack will not be relased until April 4th, possibly in the wee hours of the morning. Infinity Ward also suggests that everyone take Friday off. ( Yeah Right )

Anyone have any tips for a new player??????


Ive been playing a lot of the one player to try and get a little better, and thats helped.....im averaging around 7-10 kills a game now as a staff sergeant---- which is way up from the 2 or 3 per game I was getting a week or so ago :)

But I'm still getting crushed........I think a big part of it is just playing more so I get access to good weapons and learn the levels, but any tips would be appreciated

Oh, and which guns are the best to pick up during the game? I really like that PC 90.......but I have no idea which guns I should be looking for

Use claymores.

Use the RPD and M16 to start.

Practice aiming at the chest and shoulders. You'll get more headshots that way.

Stick to one or two guns to unlock scopes and attachments faster. Remember crtain cammo's make you stick out. I always use red tiger now, but i figure if you can see me i can see you too. I'm used to the boards now.

Learn the levels through repetition, stay alive long enough to get used to them, if that means camping to stay alive then do it. Practice patience, as soon as you give up and move you will get shot in the back, trust me.

Don't give away your location without reason. If you see someone pass by you, don't just come out blazing, giving up your location to everyone including your victim. Make sure you have a concealed kill (as much as possible) fire as many bullets as it takes and take cover again, watching your back. Reconfirm your security and move along. Remember, most victims will come back for you, so take a defensive stance until you know it's clear.

The best guns are the G36 and the RPD. You won't get the G36 until level 36 i believe, but combine that with stopping power and when your aiming is better, you'll do pretty damn good with it. A G36 or P90 with stopping power on hardcore is deadly. (edit: shoot the RPD in short bursts, quickly re-adjusting your sights at the same time.)

Learn how to cook grenades. You have about a 5 second window after you pull the pin. Practice blowing them up right in your opponents face, that is always fun for you and demeaning to your victim. Remember the fact that cars blow up too. Anything with a hood on it is fair game. Once you get used to spawning points and the location of cars you can take serious advantage of exploiting that knowledge.

I have to get a copy of my own. :D A friend of mine who lives down the street had two copies and has let me borrow one of them for the last couple weeks. Last night his kids were playing his copy on their 360 and knocked it over, ruining the disk so i had to give my copy back up. Just in time for the goty edition i was waiting for anyways. I will probably go pick it up tonight if i can find it. Right now as far as i know the major retailers in the area have yet to get them in.

Just for the 411 instead of buying Cod4 when it came out i went after everything else first, like Orange Box, Halo3 and a PS3 w/UT3 and the guitar Hero games.

Speaking of... the end credits song for the game Portal is going to be a limited free download for Rock Band in the coming days... keep your eyes peeled!

Ok. here's a little tutorial for clays.

First, you have to get to level 23 or 24 i believe before you can access them.

Second, you need to know a little about them. You can only have two of them on the board at any given time, but those two clays are a good chance to score two easy kills. Upon placing the clays you will be given two laser triggers at about a 35 degree angle protruding from the front side. One those lasers are triggered depending on the type of game you are playing will blow up in a 10 foot radius (any game but hardcore) and about a 15 foot radius (hardcore).

If you are playing anything but hardcore search and destroy they will auto dissapear when you die, or when the kill cam stops (hint, hint). Hardcore s&d they will stay until the end of the round.

Placing your clays: Learning the boards, and most popular traffic lanes will give you a huge advantage here. Always make sure you suprise your victim with clays. Setting them down right inside doorways allows your victims to exploit them. Once triggered at a doorway the clays will go off and most likely the blast will be secluded inside the room they are entering, only doing minimal damage to your victim. Set correctly your clay will always suprise and blow up your victim from behind.

Good places to set your clays: Bottom of stairs and tops of ladders (never tops of stairs unless around a corner they can't see), entrance of rooms, but in a corner triggers pointed outwards. Never set your clay where the trigger is visible through a wall (unless it is a half wall example: short stacked brick wall, there are a couple in Crossfire and Backlot), doorway or dark room. Spawn points are always an obvious spot, and entraces, exits, ladders to your camping spot (they are like a warning for you). My favorite places to set clays are long hallways, around the corner, making sure they have to be a good ways into the hall before its triggered: example: the locker room entrance to the pool area on Bloc. If you put them there you have your back covered and can camp in the back spot overlooking a long traffic area)

Tips and tricks: Car bombing is my favorite, especially on s&d. If you set one next to a car and it goes off, the bomb spreads to about a 25 foot radius, and sometimes you can take out the whole team in one shot. Cars are very useful explosives, if i haven't stressed that enough and i'm sure BK can back me up on that. Another trick is to use the 2nd or 3rd floor. You can be standing on some parts of Bloc, Crash or Crissfire and drop them in front of an unsuspecting victim. (example: Bloc: Inside one of the hotels is a second floor where a hallway is yellow in tone an there is a huge hole in the floor overlooking the doorway to the bottom entrance. One time i was just hanging around up there with my dead silence on that allows me to hear everyone but myself and monitor movement. I heard someone coming down the hall beneath me and slapped a clay down from the 2nd floor right in front of him. One second later he comes back in the door from outside and i slapped the other one down behind him, both killing him and the person chasing him down. Needless to say they weren't very happy with me. I was laughing so hard a tear came from my eye.)

You can have so much fun with them and there are alot more tricks, but i'm not giving them ALL up.

One thing i am interested in is getting the players from this board better, and if there is anything i can do to make that happen, i'm all for it (barring cheating)

Remember, exploiting is not cheating. Don't worry about people who whine because they didn't want to die the way they did. Noob tubes, cooked grenades, claymore tricks and mid air knifeing are all about who's dead and who isn't. Wouldn't you rather be on the non-****ed off side? Are you really going to let someone get you down because you didn't kill them the way they wanted to die? What kind of crap is that.... You will hear alot of it too, i promise you that... and when someone yells out that was cheap, just smile and know it worked right. :D

Cool thing is you can play TDM with just the new maps or Team Objective with the new maps. One drawback I've noticed is it's either Broadcast or Chinatown only with TDM. I haven't played Creek or The house map yet.

I can't download the new maps until later.

I tried to play just the regular game and the update froze, so right now i can't play it online. I called customer support where the hard drive guys told me that there are so many people downloading the new cod4 maps it crashed the servers. It's even messing up Xbox Marketplace.

I just got it yesterday and started playing it today. It's fantastic, though I'm still trying to get used to the controls. I've killed myself multiple times by pressing the right button thinking it was reload... :o

The mission where you're in the AC-130 Gunship is awesome. Whoever designed that one deserves a pat on the back.
