Some of us who understand football tried to tell some of you clowns that the SEC is hands down the best conference. You (you know who you are) tried to tell us otherwise...so now that it's all said and done. My personal favorite was how the Big East was the second best conference.
SEC: 7-2 (National Champion, 2 BCS wins)
Big XII: 5-3
Pac-10: 4-2
Big 10: 4-4
Big East: 3-2
ACC: 1-7
Sorry guys...that is domination. And i'm no fan of the SEC, I just know it's the best damn conference in the country.

It had to have been. I was sitting in Brandon Ale House stabbing my eyes with the french fries after every converted 3rd down.
Needless to say, things got...salty.
Yeah, I know, go ahead.

i guess the way ur determining which conference is the best is by how many bowl wins they each had, i guess thats cool, but, for example, a conference like the ACC is much better then the results of their bowl games showed, so u really have to look at each teams entire season individually to really say for sure which conferences r the overall top ones

the SEC is good, no doubt about it, but the superstars in the nfl r from many different conferences, not just the SEC

Anyone in the world that doesn't believe the SEC is by *FAR* the best conference in college football needs their head checked. And I don't care who their 'team' is or where they play.
Year in and year out the SEC produces 2-4 (sometimes more) of the best teams in the nation; unlike other conferences where typically only ONE team beats up on the other weaker teams in their conference. SEC teams beat up on each other and make it 10X harder to reach a National Championship game that patsy schedules that teams like USC and Ohio State have to play.

u should provide those stats to strengthen ur argument... every major college conference has players in the NFL that have made the pro bowl at some point or another... but also, what college someone went to has no baring on how they do in the pros... a recent example for u... calvin johnson would have still been regarded as a top 5 player last year regardless of if he played in the big 10, big 12, pac 10, sec, big east, etc.

I agree if only USC wouldn't keep getting embarrassed every time they play an SEC team...the Trojans suck..

Patsy schedules? Take a look at who any SEC team schedules for non-conference games. Happens every season.
Pac-10 rocks your socks. USC and Oregon would've beaten the crap outta LSU/Florida/Georgia/whoever.

If you said USC and Oregon would have beat Florida/LSU/Georgia, you may have an argument. But beating the crap out of them? I don't think so.
Why is the argument always the non-conference games for the SEC haters? When will they learn that playing Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, and other pretty good teams is hard enough. You want an SEC team to play all their conference games and then schedule USC and Oregon on top of that?

Um, the trojans haven't lost to an sec team in at least 5 years. In fact the game against a sec opponent I remember is the game against auburn, that they won. The same year they split the title with LSU.
Again, usc decided to **** the bed against a terrible team and squander natl title hopes, but they would have had similar results against osu. I am however, extremely surprised that michigan beat florida.

yeah brag about the SEC all you want
but when the 12th ranked team loses to an unranked team, in the state of florida, it doesn't really look good
considering most SEC fans said the michigan win wasn't a big win for OSU

The Gators struggled against Michigan... I would call it a fluke game, an off day, if you will. For as young as they were, give UF credit for winning 9 games this season, the AP didn't give them a chance. Don't forget that Florida beat some tough teams this season as well... Tennessee, Kentucky... they gave LSU a scare also. Not too shabby for a team of Sophomores, eh?
Don't worry too much about that #12 loss to Michigan... we'll see much more depth in September, a dual QB system under Coach Meyer... once again the Florida Gators and the SEC will be back and continue to DOMINATE College Football.

Except that Michigan wasn't the best of the Big 10, and UF wasn't nearly the best of the SEC. So that loss doesn't resonate as much as you would like it to.
HOWEVER, yet again this year... the BEST of the Big 10 gets thumped by the BEST of the SEC.

I wouldn't even call our loss (UF) a fluke.... considering the season as a whole, it was par for the course, a perfectly normal game for the 2007 Gator football team. The defense played just as it had all season long, which was poorly, while the offense managed to put up 35 points. /shrug.... it is what it is.

Heres a little on how the conferences translate into the NFL through the few first rounds of the draft.
In the NFL draft from 1984 to 2006:
274 players from notable SEC schools (UF, Tenn, Alabama, LSU, GA, Auburn) were taken in the first 3 rounds of the draft.
Of the 274, 105 of them were first rounders.
214 players from notable Big 10 schools (OSU, Mich, Mich St, Wiscon, Penn St) were taken in the first 3 rounds of the draft.
Of the 214, 92 of them were first rounders.
210 players from notable Big 12 schools (Okla, Texas, Tex A&M, Nebraska, Colorado) were taken in the first 3 rounds of the draft.
Of the 210, 76 were taken in the first 3 rounds.
The fun part is Miami, alone has produced 44 first round picks, and 84 total picks in the first 3 rounds in that 22 year period.
The next highest totalled school is Florida State, with 29 first rounders and 67 in the first 3 rounds.
Just a little fuel to add to the SEC's fire.
I'm a Cane fan and with the addition of their vast percentage of picks in the draft plus FSU, the Big East and ACC are still miles out of the picture with sending talent to the NFL.
The SEC IS, hands down the most dominant division in college football NOW.
History wise you would be foolish to say they are the best. Times change, but now is now. The best teams are in the hardest divison.

Another place in history for the SEC...
5 SEC teams in the final AP Poll (Top 15 or higher)
SEC holds #1 and #2 spots in the final AP Poll
Right behind the Tigers, who received 60 of 65 first-place votes from the media panel, was another Southeastern Conference team. Georgia was No. 2, making the SEC the first league since the Big 8 in 1971 to have the top two teams in the final AP poll.
1. LSU (60) 12-2
2. Georgia (3) 11-2
3. USC (1) 11-2
4. Missouri 12-2
5. Ohio State 11-2
6. West Virginia 11-2
7. Kansas (1) 12-1
8. Oklahoma 11-3
9. Virginia Tech 11-3
10T. Texas 10-3
10T. Boston College 11-3
12. Tennessee 10-4
13. Florida 9-4
14. Brigham Young 11-2
15. Auburn 9-4
16. Arizona State 10-3
17. Cincinatti 10-3
18. Michigan 9-4
19. Hawaii 12-1
20. Illinois 9-4
21. Clemson 9-4
22. Texas Tech 9-4

Hard to fathom having a team capable of knocking off two top 15 teams who both won their bowl games and still finish outside the top 25. Maddening how that team underperformed this year. Oh well, that's what happens with a bunch of underclassmen on the field. Can't wait to see the next two seasons as this team actually matures...That game against Kansas next season early should help get things rolling...

The debate between USC and Georgia for #2 is all based on regional bias - could go to either team. Kansas, who has only lost one game, is ranked 7. Oregon and Oregon State have equivalent records with Auburn and Florida but are ranked 8 spots lower.
The rankings are rather silly and very objective. They prove nothing. This season is a testament to that fact.
I can't wait till there is a playoff so we no longer have to discuss things like this. And hopefully its not as small as the 4-team system they're proposing. A 12-team playoff (same number as pros) would fit wonderfully during that month off where they don't do anything and would end before the NFL playoffs. Then we'd see who is the best team/conference.
