View Full Version : What about this potential trade scenario?

Per rotoworld, the Rams really like Desean Jackson and might be looking to trade back to get him later in the first. If he's available at 20, do we offer the pick (or draft him first and then trade) for their 2nd, 3rd and some other pick (5th?) as well? Essentially we trade out of the first and grab at least 2 more picks for this year and either a third now or one more next year?

Take their second and next year's 1st. Let's hope they suck it up again, and maybe we can get lucky and land Crabtree.

Wait till 20, see who is available. I do like the 2nd this year and 1st next year. With that 2nd could still get a 1st round guy like Brohm or maybe even one of the corners falls there. Be a lot of choices with the 33rd over all pick. All depends on who is left and if somebody major falls into our lap or if all the people there we can take or leave.
Don't draft and try to trade because they could decide they don't want him and then you are stuck with the guy.

I'd take their 2nd (what is it, 33rd?) and next year's 1st, along with maybe a 5th this year or next. Something along those lines.
Shoot, we could use their pick on Trevor Laws, which is who I'd want with our first rounder if it was 30 instead of 20.
It's too bad there's zero chance Gruden would trade a dime today for a quarter tomorrow.

id like that scenario, although i have no idea who will be on the bucs radar in 2009 with the 2 picks... tim tebow if he comes out? other than him i cant even name anyone else who would be eligible

Dear lord no Tebow please.
You only know a hand full of guys who will be there next year. Things will not unfold until a few months before the draft.
Last year at this time would of never been wishing we could get Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis, Keith Rivers, Ryan Clady, Phillip Merling, Mike Jenkins, etc. There will always be guys wishing we could get every year.

If we didn't already have almost the same type of player, my homer side would love to see George Selvie enter..

I meant we'd only draft him if there was already an agreement in place.

Yeah, I think if there was an agreement in place then the pick would trade hands. Only reason I could see doing that is we would be worried the guy we want with their 2nd round pick they would take instead and no other team would. Otherwise if we are drafting the guy for them it sounds more like a wink wink nudge nudge, SUUUUUURE we will trade for him if he is on your team. Then draft him and go to sign the papers for the trade and they start laughing.

Well, who are the top players coming out next year? ASsuming that the Rams will blow once again, could we expect to this trade to pay off if we get a high pick next year for it?

I'd love to see us do that but the rams have too many needs IMO.

Scott Linehan has one more year, period. If he thinks trading next year's top pick for DeSean Jackson will be worth a win or two this season, he'll do it in a heartbeat.
It's just that mentality I'm hoping Gruden and Allen AVOID.

Yes, we need to get out of the 1st round, this draft is jam packed, about 3 1/2 rounds worth of 2nd round talent.

he's going to be a redshirt sophomore and thus eligible.

good point
However, from what I've heard it appears that the organization feels that there is still a lot of building to be done, and that the draft is the best way to do it, suggesting that trading in the opposite direction would be preferred. Of course I'm speculating but then again the whole thread is based on speculation. Also even if Linehan was for the trade up (I do see desean as good fit), I'm not sure the trade would happen. It looks like with the hiring of Billy Devaney, he might not have the autonomy to make the final decision.
Devaney Energizes Rams

"Immediately on his hiring, Devaney takes over control of all personnel issues with the team including free agency and the all important NFL Draft."
I would however love for this to happen.

same category so why start a new thread...
Per rotoworld, Miami might be looking to trade up in late first round for either Henne, Flacco, Harvey or Quentin Groves.
