Why?....Kinda pointless but something to talk about I guess. I don't know if left tackle will be the pick, I guess it depends on Penn's development and where Zuttah/Trueblood ends up playing. I could see a NT or DE here more likely. Thoughts?

I'm amazed he didn't pick a WR.

We'll need WR, DL, and maybe RB.

Percy Harvin does sound enticing. There could be your next Galloway.

Malcolm Jenkins and James Laurinitis were potential top 10 this year, so by waiting till next year they fall out? Doubtful.

Mediocre at best.

I would say that it's more likely for a QB to fall out of favor with NFL scouts than defenders like a cornerback or linebacker.

Malcolm Jenkins and James Laurinitis would definitely be in my top five list for prospects next season.

I'd hate to see Knowshon go to the Jets. I'd much rahter see him and Stafford stay for a couple more years.

If even one of the players listed goes to the team McShay has them going to in 360 days, I'll name my next kid "Todd McShay."

I'll hold you to that. Just for humor.

Yeah, it's pretty pointless but after April this forum is as good as dead.

It's a deal!

And I agree, it's never too early to talk about next year's draft, especially when it's going to be a great one.

I attribute that kind of stuff to over-analyzation.

Really?!? And here I've been thinking that the 2009 class is going to be weak. There are no real QBs and only a few RBs/WRs that are worth much. I think there is strength on the defensive side, but, even then, it's a few studs followed by a lot of mediocre players.

Put it this way...when Stafford and Tebow are your 1st round QBs, you've got a problem. Drafts tend to be judged in two ways...depth of talent and "elite" talent. In my mind, there isn't much of either. Mind you, there is a lot of college football left to play...and there are a lot of guys that will make a name for themselves between now and the draft. However, as of now, I just don't see much to be excited about.

It's looking like an *awful* quarterback draft, but it should be very, very good on both sides of the line. Depending on who comes out, I also think it could be the best WR draft since '04. Running back won't be as deep as this year's crop, but it looks pretty good for the first round or so and should, on the whole, be better than average. The linebackers look solid, and safety looks stupidly good.

Of course, things will undoubtably change between now and next April.

All depends on which underclassmen declare early.

QBs and RBs get the glory...

But the front seven players in this draft are just going to be awesome...especially the linebackers. You're going to see upwards of ten LBers in this draft carrying first round grades.

And, for we receiver starved teams, it's going to be a very strong class.

There is that.

Obviously, if the two Ohio State junior defenders declare in this past draft, the entire face of the first round changes.

Add in the 2 USC LB's, Cushing and Maualuga and USC DT Moala, for the '08 draft too.

Those 5 players declare, and all of a sudden, there is great depth.

And in '09, if George Selvie, Andre Smith, Greg Hardy, Greg Middleton, Myron Rolle, and Darrius Hayward-Bey all go back to school.... it suddenly turns a good looking draft into a weaker one.

I think everyone can agree on the lack of QB/WR depth in next years draft. there are a couple guys at the top, some of them will even be very good, but there is little depth - meaning, if you don't have a high pick, you can't get any of them.

I agree on the defensive front-7, there is some talent. I think the D-line will be the strength of the draft, while LBs slip. If this year's draft is any indication of how LBs are viewed, there will be a lot of 1st-round-graded LBs that end up as 3rd round picks. LB is a position that's too easy to find quality at, so teams tend to pass until value meets talent. Conversely, D-lineman could end up getting over-valued, with 2nd and 3rd round guys getting taken early simply because a team NEEDS help there.

All in all, I just don't see a whole lot to get excited about. The top-10 teams will have a lot of talent to choose from. But, beyond that, teams will have to make due with their usual fare of "almost-there-talents" and "gambles."
