This is a blow to LSU's chances of making another run for the National Title or even the SEC Championship next season.
What a waste of talent.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who had legal and disciplinary problems throughout his college career, was kicked off the defending national championship team Friday.
LSU coach Les Miles did not offer details, but sources within the program told ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach and ESPN's Joe Schad that Perrilloux failed a drug test.
Perrilloux, who had been suspended three times in his college career, "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete," Miles said in a statement. The school said Friday that Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester.
"Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team," Miles said.
Perrilloux was a backup to Matt Flynn for the Tigers, who defeated Ohio State to win the national title.
Miles suspended Perrilloux, whose father died Feb. 7, in mid-February after he missed a team meeting, skipped some classes and was late for a handful of conditioning workouts.
Perrilloux had to meet academic requirements and do extra conditioning work before he was reinstated April 6, in time to go with the Tigers to meet President Bush at the White House.
Perrilloux was not allowed to play in LSU's spring game.
Before his last reinstatement, Miles said Perrilloux had been doing better with his classwork. During the spring, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and junior Andrew Hatch split time as the quarterback of the Tigers.
In 12 games last season, Perrilloux completed 51 of 75 passes for eight touchdowns and two interceptions. He led LSU to two victories -- including the Southeastern Conference championship game -- when Flynn, a senior, was injured during the 2007 season.
Perrilloux, who also was suspended by the Tigers last summer, was on the fringe of a counterfeiting investigation and was caught trying to enter a Baton Rouge casino with false identification. He also was involved in a fracas at a nightclub in November, but was cleared of wrongdoing.

Really? Because Perrilloux was one of the most talented recruits I've ever seen at the QB position in my life.
I think this might be a stretch.

Big stretch. A freshman that will see SEC defenses for the first time in an actual game. LSU will have to lean on their defense this year but will still be a tough opponent.

This is very frustrating for draft nerds, by the way. Perrilloux would have been a top ten pick if he was marginally dependable as a human being, and the #1 overall pick if he had a good work ethic.
One less quality QB for a draft pool never helps things!

Shh, I'm trying to be optomistic.
UGA and FL will be a tough test....I'm not worried about the rest though. As a team LSU is still pretty deep in every position. It's unfortunate that this young guy, a sophmore, will be thrown to the wolves so soon. Hopefully he learned quite a bit last year behind Flynn.

The success of LSU's offense will hinge on their offensive line. They're lucky they're returning 4 of their 5 starters from last season. If they'd lost their entire line, they'd be in a deeper pile of crap then they are now.

Amazing that a guy who has a chance to start for the reigning champions can't just stay out of trouble.

Guess what... his dad died. I don't know how you chums think he should handle it but to some people thats kind of a big deal and it might, just might, mess you up a little bit.

So that's an excuse to do whatever you want? I don't think so.

You are a total idiot. His discipline problem has been ongoing since he arrived at LSU. It's not something that just started in February with the death of his father. He's a screwup, plain and simple.
Oh, and I'm calling dibs.

He's had trouble keeping his nose clean since High School.
Sorry, no sale.

I don't deny that. However, you can't know what issues he was dealing with in his life that mattered more to him than a game. He managed to play football until his dad died. I'm saying that pushed him past caring about the game which obviously wasn't a high priority for him to begin with.

Yeah that is tough to deal with, but with the opportunities laid out in front of him if he could've kept clean, by acting that way he is a loser.
I remember a monday night game where brett favre lost his father(i think) and went out and had arguably the best game of his career. its the difference of channeling your emotions in a postive way and its a shame he couldnt do that.
i will repeat..he is a loser

We'll no for sure if he enrolls at a DII school and plays next year.
If he takes the time off to get his head right, and comes back clean, good for him.
If not, he's just another loser. Here in Nebraska, home of Lawrence Phillips, this is nothing we haven't seen before.

I'm sure UTEP will take him like they did with Fred Rouse.

This is the same guy who said when he was originally recruited by Texas said that he would win 4 heisman trophies. He could not beat out Vince Young (no shame their) so he transferred to LSU where he could not beat out Matt Flynn. He is talented, but like most would agree.. AN IDIOT!!!

Oh, someone will take him.
And then someone will take him in the draft (or the supplemental draft, depending on the circumstances).
Then someone will have wasted a draft pick.

Shame.
I saw this guy launching deep passes to DeSean Jackson @ the AlamoBowl (I think that was the name of it) a few years ago.
I was really excited to see this guy turn pro.

Jacksonville State has already offered to take him as they don't have a scholarship QB on the roster. Ironically, the reason they don't is they kicked the previous one off for breaking team rules...
Yeah, now that's leadership!

they might lose an extra game or 2, but overall i dont think they will see much of a dropoff at all, they always have a great team
