Yes, online gaming is not dead quite yet.
After several draining years of hearing about nothing but World of Warcraft, gamers around the world receive the best news possible.
Yes, they will both take quite some time to release (as with every Blizzard title, they always take forever after announcement), but until then I can still boot up my old D2 disc and relive the Golden Days of Gaming.
And to any who played D2 back in the day, sorry about the whole duping incident...it ruined the balance, but it was rediculously fun nonetheless.

I'm midly excited about Starcraft II, but with Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 coming out before the end of the year, I'm not really paying attention to it.
As for Diablo III, none of the original designers of the first two Diablo games work at Blizzard anymore, so don't expect the same game. I tried Diablo II, but could never get past the first Act. There was this necromancer guy who I had to kill and every time I got close to him he spawned over 300 skeletons. (I'm not kidding.) I gave up after a week of trying to kill him. I've watched the gameplay video and I'll give the demo a test drive when it comes out, but right now it's not even on my "Top 15 Games I'm Waiting For" list.

I am curious about this. I play it on occasion still and I am trying to figure out which guy you are talking about. Were you playing someone online? I don't know any of the quests that require you to kill someone in the first act that continuously spawns skeletons.

No, it wasn't online.
It's been so long that I can't remember if it was skeletons. I just remember some boss I had to kill spawning a staggering amount of mobs that pretty much insta-gibbed me.

I think it was some girl that spawned a bunch.
But luckily I was a nEcromancer so i only had to kill a few of her creatures and spawn my own skeletons to fight against her

I've played enough games from other developers to realize that no one quite "gets it" like Blizzard. Never played better PC games (actually, probably any game) than SC and D2. There were plenty of hard spots, but playing in a party is the best way to quest, I finished all of Act 2 (rediculously large map for that one) with a couple of other players in about 20 minutes last night on Nightmare.

I actually picked this back up and started playing again the other day....I think you're referring to Blood Raven...but she only spawns them once I think. What class are you? As a Paladin...I can take a lot of hits and with health potion help it wasn't too hard. My friend is a necromancer and spawns his own skeletons/golems to help out. Not sure....might be harder with another class I suppose.

Its not too too hard to beat her. With most classes just level up enough and then when you enter the burial grounds just go straight for her and only attack her. By the way if anyone is still playing this I am looking for people to play with on occasion. Add me if you wish, my account is: elrey21

I dunno. It was the first RPG I'd ever really played, so I really sucked at it. I guess I could find my copy and give it another try now that I have more experience with the genre.
The most recent one I've played was Dungeon Siege 2. I beat it in 3 days. :p

Anyone else a fan of the HOMM series? I picked up HOMM3 the other day and started some campaign and it's WAY addicting. Can't seem to go a day without playing some.

The Skeleton King! ...or maybe that was Diablo 1.
I played / hacked that game into oblivion. We used to take runes and edit them with a text editor in hexidecimals then fill up our inventory with them so they would make you really god like. Some of them added even had negative stats such as speed. You remember seeing those people online that would flash across the screen at amazing speeds, obliterating people in waves of endless torment? Well one of those people was most likely me. That was years ago though. I absolutely LOVED Diablo 2.

Yep. Duping killed the game, but it was a matter of time before people moved on to Warcraft III when that came out. However, the duping days were just so much fun when you had 60 SOJs that you could spend freely, and a Windforce to boot.

I'm not talking about duping. I'm talking about actually editing items.

how did I never find out about this? . I did use the hero and skills editor to plan out characters but never items. I also duped on occasion on open battle.net. I remember when SOJs was the currency to use, and now its just high runes everywhere.

Not to get away from Diablo 3 talk there is a good blog you can go to that has pretty much all the information anyone knows so far about the game. Too bad we probably won't see this game for a long time.

Indeed. That's definitely on my must-try list.
I can't wait for the open beta to start.

Warhammer looks interesting, but MMOs just aren't my cup of tea. Paying a monthly fee adds to that dislike.

I still play that game all the time. My battle.net account is TornadoRex also...so if anyone plays DoTA hit me up for a game sometime.
That goes for my D2 acct also.

When I found out about D3's annoucnment (just the other day) I went looking for my old D2 dics. Needless to say one of them was cracked. Anyone know where you can still buy the game?
I used to love this game and the replay on it never got old. I can't wait to play D3 but by the time it comes out, I'll probably have forgotten about it.

You can get a Battle Chest at most retailers still. I think I've seen it a few times at Wal-Mart.

D2 was great but like was said before duping ruined it. I remeber running people thru last act with mu huge army of skeletons and S. mages. Had a sweet mage too. I would pop that game in and play but think one of my discs got a huge scratch in it so got ****ed and threw them all out.

I actually just started playing a game called TitanQuest with a couple friends. It's almost the exact same same as Diablo II but with better graphics and more options for customizing. Lot of fun, but it's a CRAZY long game.

Well, my friend just saved me $40 by letting me use his disks. I have LOD but my orginal Diablo disks were messed up. He's installing it today on his computers and I'm taking them home later to install them on mine.
It's been so long since I played this game I actually can't wait to start up a new Barb.

You may still be able to use D3 on your computer right now. I am pretty sure you will not need DX10 to run

Cool, I can stretch my 2001 computer a little longer. Plus the lag will slow the game down enough to where I will have like a minute to react to what the cpu does. :D

I always used whichever characters had the best magic. I think Diablo II it was the necromancer or something like that? Conjure up a bunch of skeletons, and other monsters to fight for me.

Correct, Blizzard has been quoted to saying that DX10 will NOT be needed.
As for the guy who was looking to buy it you can get it by Digital Download at the blizzard store since you no longer need the CD's in the drive to play the game.
I too just recently started playing the game again after the D3 news and am looking forward to it. If any of you are on US West feel free to hit me up.

Whoa...
To me, NOTHING about the game is/was difficult.
I've made over $750 selling, creating, and selling again accounts.
I've had every type of character to 99, with mercs to 98.
Version 1.10
Greatest PK: Bone Necro with an act 1 merc (Cham'd Windy, Helm that slows tgt, and COH)
Best quester: Zealot pally. 98th lvl merc with BOTD, bramble and tal's mack with UM.
Best dueler: 30th lvl windy druid. NM and Hell rushed to get the skill adds.
2x SOJs
P. ***** (Perf Ruby)
P. Viper (Perf Ruby)
Rhyme shield
Spirit sword
Sander's boots
magefists
+2 elemental, +2 Nado, +2 hurricane rare ammy
String of ears
every space filled with FRW and +life charms
.... with this guy, I'd take out 90th lvl sorcs. with ease.
..... Still have several accounts now with a lethal hammerdin. Haven't played in months, putter around on occasion with my son.

I should have tried to sell some accounts when I had the chance. The money you can make and that people are willing to pay is unreal. The ladder has reset though, so it is harder to get good items right now. Look at many of the sites you can buy items from and the prices are jacked up on everything. You could easily make hundreds right now if you can get the items especially HRs.

If you had EVERY type of character at lvl 99 then you spent a lot of time playing the game, as just getting from lvl 98 to lvl 99 can take up to a week of playing or more.
I disagree that in patch 1.10 the best quester is a Zealot, one cast from IM in Act 4 and you are dead. A hammerdin is much better considering no single monster is immune to his attack. Lastly, if you were killing lvl 90 sorc with a lvl 30 windy druid with EASE they must not have been very good players . Just my thoughts though.
