I just bought Rockband over the weekend. I know this is a newbie question, but maybe someone would be kind enough to help me out. I'm confused as to how the tour works. In each city I'm trying to finish the tours, but it says 8/10 in one or 9/10 in another. I'm trying to finish it and I keep on playing songs, but I can't figure out what I'm missing. I think I'm playing all the songs needed but it keeps telling me the same number. I finished the first city and it shows a checkmark that I'm done, but I can't figure out how to finish any of the other bars.

Thanks in advance for any help to a newbie!

Check marks show songs or sets you have finished, the 9/10 or 8/10 show how many stars you earned and the total possible.

I understand now. Then what am I doing wrong that I can't unlock one of the clubs? What am I doing that I can't finish the set?

You need to beat some of the "special" gigs (tour bus, roadies, manager etc.) to play the bigger venues. The number of fans you have also has an impact on which venues you can play. You may need to play in a different city then come back to the first city once you have more fans. You will need to play on higher levels to earn more fans, there is a cap of fans for each difficulty and it measures the difficulty based on the lowest level being played. So even if 3 of the 4 are on expert if 1 is on easy it will only give you credit for playing on easy.

I see. So how do you get to these "special" gigs? We are only playing on easy.

They show up in the same spots as regular gigs, but they have a logo to the left of the set list name. I think the van is the first thing you get so you can play the cities nearest to your home town. If you see a grayed out song or set on the list you can click on it and it should tell you what you need to do/have before you can play it.

OK. I think I understand now. We got the beat up van last night. Thanks for your help! Do you play online?

If you're playing the drums, check out youtube. there's a kid posting vids of himself playing on expert. Not only is he that good, but watching his rhythm helped me learn how to play Maps on expert level. :D Search 'rockband drums expert'. He's got quite a lot of vids. you'll know you've got the right guy cause his vids are split into three different camera views. One for the screen, one for him playing the drum pads, and one for the foot pedal. Earlier vids only have a split screen, of the game and the drums.

I will have to check him out. I haven't even tried the drums yet. Have just done vocal and guitar. Maps is a good song, but what strange lyrics!

And this is why I only play Rockband these days.

That set list is proof that Guitar hero is dead.

That is one impressive line up of songs. I better dust off my drums and get to cracking on some serious skill work.

Have you guys seen the new drum set?

Metal foot pedal (thank god, mine is currently being held together with duct tape and some nails for extra bracing), pads they claim are quieter and expansion spots to attach an extra yellow blue and green trigger as cymbals. I really want the cymbal add ons because it just feels odd to me playing a hi hit beat and not crossing my arms.

Also the 360 guitars are wireless and supposedly much better made.

Thank you. I hate and I mean HATE the Rockband guitar. It sucks, does not feel right and responds terrible. I currently use my GH 3 wireless, but liked the features the RB guitar had, shame it sucked so much to actually use.

I am going to have to search for the RB2 drum set now, I am curious to see it myself.

Ok, so i've been playing Rockband 2 since it came out, here and there for a couple hours at a time to finally and i mean FINALLY get to the end 4 months later. So sick of playing all the crappy songs but i thought it was all worth it to be able to play the good songs at the end. There is where my problem comes in.

I liked how they made it to where you pick the difficulty as you go, and i thought it was a good idea until now. I breezed through the whole thing on medium, it took a long time, but it it helped it go alot faster still.

Souls of Black, Battery and Painkiller. I'm FINALLY THERE! I'm so happy, FINALLY some good songs to play, maybe the best so far imo in the whole genre. I go to play them and it gives you two difficulty options. Hard and expert.... only.... I usually play on hard and expert on Guitar Hero, and i'm getting to that point on Rockband but COME ON PEOPLE this isn't Hootie and the Blowfish here!!! This is freakin' BATTERY for crying out loud! The thing that ****es me off is when you think about it.. what about people who can't even pass stuff on medium?? I know there are kids 10 years old who can perfect Dragonforce and Dream Theatre, but that doesn't mean i can... and it's for achievements... how are people like me supposed to beat the game... That's not all though, i beat Souls of Black(on guitar) and i beat Painkiller(on bass) on hard but even Battery is hell on bass, Cliff Burton was a God not a video game junkie. Then there's this song called Visions, i tried that one too, then i took my guitar and smashed it through my tv. (j/k)

It's almost like this game is broken. Yeah i will probably get through it with ALOT of practice, but what about others? I know some people who can't even do Mississippi Queen on easy.

Have any of you passed these songs yet? What really sucks about it is even though you have those songs unlocked on Tour you can't play them on quickplay or practice until you beat them. Yes you can practice if you fail the song but you still loose the fans for failing. You have to keep going back and playing lame songs you skipped over to get enough fans to qualify to play those gigs again. Damn it's so frustrating!

I love that you can only play the top gigs on the hard/expert levels. By the time you get to that part of the game medium should be boring. Sure if you are just playing for the achievements then it can be frustrating. Also there is a code to unlock all the songs for quickplay. Go to the extras menu, pick modify game and enter: Red, Yellow, Blue, Red(2), Blue(2), Red, Yellow, Blue to unlock all songs. Alternately, press Y, B, X, Y(2), X(2), Y, B, X on a controller.

Medium was boring all the way through the game, lol, i only did it so i could get through faster and get more stars. I'f i did it on Hard or expert all the way through, i would eventually get there, but it would take so much longer. I think it took me almost 600 or more stars to before i got to open those songs up.

Thanks for the cheats, but i won't use them because i'm trying to get achievements.

I have beat 1 and 2 on expert and can beat any song except snow and thrasher...but its a great game, addicting....2 doesn't have as high of replay value for me because it's hard to track your gold stars, but I started playing in march on medium and sucked..now I have many top 100 scores

it's easier to unlock songs in challenge mode..you just play each endless set list and you will get them all, the cheat disables saves

Endless setlist.. haha you've got to be joking. You actually sat there and played for 6 and a half hours? If you want the achievement for that you can't even pause it.

This game is great and you can customize it to your music tastes with the song download feature. But they still need to learn how to make a drum pedal! The thing is part metal and part plastic and the plastic always breaks.

Take a stainless steel butter knife, break it in half for the support and use some epoxy to mend it back together. Works perfect.

It does work pretty good huh, better than they could ever make it. I would suggest everyone do this even if it's not broken yet, lol.
