It has really improved visually from the vids and pics I've seen.

The game looks very good, hopefully the game plays better than previous years.
On a side note, in madden 08, is it possible to attain a 100 rating on a ability with a created player. For example, 100 Return Rating. Asking mainly because my QB I imported from NCAA 09 has 100 Return rating. I was shocked. It sucks mainly because they will not let me use him in the return game.
Demo should be released to teh PS store soon.

It looks good because Tiburon wasted their time with another graphical upgrade (again) instead of fixing the billions of bugs in the gameplay.

Stick with nfl2k5, and update the roster using codebreakers. It beats any madden game ever made.

I'm not, but I don't play Madden a lot anymore and this is the first year that actually excites me. So please explain for us uninformed.

Madden 08 became unplayable after a while. I play franchise rather than online and after the first 2 seasons or sometimes even earlier, the game would completely freeze if you tried to simulate or train your players. You got a good full season of playing, then the offseason features were useless since it would freeze the next season.
That's just one issue people had with the game. The actual gameplay was bad, too.. Linebackers caught the ball more often than receivers, there are far too many preset animations that cause the game to be unrealistic, and the blocking/d-line matchups still include "locking up" with each other.

I've never played '08 but I saw some videos on You Tube that would break down plays in slow motion...
Say your RB is running a route in the flat out of the backfield... QB throws the ball and a linebacker is closing in... in the real world the LB would be primed for a good hit... but in Madden's world the ball would curve... I kid you not... and go directly to the linebacker, standing about 5 yards away... it would curve like a pitcher throwing a curveball... other times your WR would have the ball in his hands... the DB would be behind him... yet the ball would magically slide through your guy into the DB's hands for a pick...
When I saw that... I walked away for good...

Yea, seems like EA just uses emerging technologies to hide glitches that they are too sorry to fix. Its funny how they still want $59.99 for more glitch ridden games every year.

Well thats what happens when Rex Grossman is your QB.

Never had this issue. I also never had the issue that some were running into where you could not advance in the game because another team didn't have the right number of FB's, RB's, whatever. I saw that discussed here a while back, and never ran into that either.

Those I did run in to. There are quite a few bugs in the gameplay that I think they are willing to let slide. Mostly because people (like me :( ) keep saying they will never buy another Madden, and then get talked into doing it anyway.
That said, I won't be buying the new one until a couple friends get it and I have a chance to play it.

I am still ****ed that they canceled their pc release this year. I have been a devoted Madden fan (in spite of its glitches) for many years. I spent a ton of money on a computer so I could do anything I wanted with it, including playing any game on it. Now the f*****s at EA decide pc users don't need Madden. It really ****es me off.....but thats life I guess.
As far as the topic on hand, I've seen some promos and it looks like they at least attempted to make the game better. But Legacy is correct, they spend more time making sure it looks pretty and has a soundtrack of current artists (no matter how bad the song) on tap. Hope you like it when you get it, but I will remain a bitter fan of the franchise since it dissed pc users.

I am a huge madden and NCAA fan and I have been very disappointed these past few years. The bugs in the game play have been ridiculous. I got NCAA 09 a few days ago and I wasn't expecting it to be much better, but they actually did a very good job, nothing too ridiculous seems to happen. Linebackers don't jump 6 feet and swat a ball and they really did I good job making it realistic (no doubt way better then 07 and 08). I just hope this carries over to Madden 09.

I'm getting 360 when Madden comes out. Finally upgrading from PS2. Can someone give me some examples of better gameplay? I'm hoping for better defense and more realistic offense (no more throwing 40 yard ropes while back peddling like on ps2).

You should all just burn any Madden game you own.... I would rather play 2k5 or apf2k8 for years.... At least the gameplay is smooth and REALISTIC. I feel so sorry for all of you Madden fanboys that you can't play a game unless you have visual upgrades and exploits.

Speaking of fan boys...
Madden has its issues but it would be a folly to pretend like 2K8 didn't have it's own issues.

2k8 did have some issues, and I will not deny that... At the same time it is still a much better game as far as gameplay and realism go. It was also 2k's first run at a football game on the new consoles. remember madden 06???

Speaking mostly rhetorically here, what happens is Brett Favre is playing for a different team by the time the game is released? It's already too late to change the cover.
It would be the first time that the cover athlete has changed teams.
Hopefully somebody will photoshop him into a Bucs jersey;) and create a custom cover. Maybe even EA will offer replacement covers (however unlikely).
