i've bought the last few maddens and I really can't notice much of anything different between the games.
my only argument for buying is playing as the new browns
so you madden nuts, make your argument as to why i should buy it

if you bought it a couple years in a row, can't blame you for having doubts...I'm now on a rotation where I just buy it every 2 years and borrow from my friends the years in between. been working out pretty well so far. this will be the first time I buy it for the ps3 though.

ill get madden only because i have in-store credit and i can get 40 bucks towards madden if i trade in ncaa 09. i dont expect anything different from the past 3 seasons of it but....it's the only football game available...it will last a month before nhl 09 comes out in which i will play that....because canadians know how to make a ****ing hockey game.
The online is better this year virtually no lag...except I can't finish a god damn game. I always get disconnected some time in the second quarter.. And when I do the game goes black and it says "youve lost your connection to your opponent" and we can still talk over the headset(so we haven't totally lost connection). I don't understand it. I've got a pretty fast connection though it's not the fastest, but I'm directly wired if that makes a difference.

havent bought it in two years. figured id give it a shot since i can get it for virtually free.
NHL 09 will be tons better than madden and im 1000000x more of a football fan than nhl.

Last year... I bought Madden 08....
Played 1/2 of a game online.. Realized it was garbage, and sold it the next morning for 50 dollars... so I lost 10 dollars on the transaction which wasn't too bad...
This year, I'm not going to lose any money...

Buy Madden because EA has monopolized the football gaming industry.
Don't buy Madden because 60 dollars is not worth a roster update and content that fails to cover up horrid gameplay.

it is different this year...better graphics, online play, better AI which adjust to how you play...but better? i dunno, I haven't liked the gameplay for ps3 or 360 in madden....I miss xbox/ps2 gameplay...Im not upset I bought it, but I don't think you are missing anything by not buying it

Even though I played it for 10 mins. I like it. Gameplay and graphics are pretty dam good.

Game is a lot of fun. I love the franchise mode. I wish the announcers were a little bit better though, they sound like a robot.
My brother's birthday is tomorrow so we might get it, I hope it's good.

Rev- Simply put, you're kicking your opponents ***, and they quit on you. That happened to me tonight as well. I'm shutting this guy down and finally after I force his 6th turnover early in the second quarter he quits..... :rolleyes:

quick question if your playing against friends on your on system does it still show the opponets play if u look at the screen because i HATED that.

Hold L2 (on the PS3) and it changes it back to the old system.

way to get around that is go to the play you want to choose, and hit and hold in A, and you can still move it around until you let go of A

Has anyone played the Head Coach that was released with the special edition? I'm more interested in that than I am in the actual Madden game.

You can just hide your play by holding L2 or LT and it goes back to the old [], O, X, /\ format

I wish it was that, but no. I was only up 2 touchdowns both times in the second quarter. It knocked my DNF % up to 100% and my record to 0-2. I'm pretty sure the disconnection was on my end.
However, today I played 2 games(and lost both because I can't get Jeff Garcia to pass effectively McCown, Griese, and JJ are all more effective than him) and I'm terrible at defense(always been a weak point). Passing has always been a strong point so that leaves me scratching my head.

Same here, they can polish it all up with the nice graphics and nice presentation, but the game is still a piece of turd.

Haven't done that yet, thanks. Did go to EA's website to read some of the forums there to get an idea, and to see what the hardcore fans think about it. I'm getting into sim type games, and thought it could be cool. Sucks that there not releasing it for the PC. My son monopolizes the PS3.:grinyes:

In the past, PS2, I bought Madden every year and although I never regretted the purchase it felt like a waste. Now that I have a PS3 my plan is not to waste has much money on games I will just end up not playing, or playing once beating them and putting them down. For those games I will rent, unless of course I can get them on the cheap. JMHO

Have they put the OWNER MODE back into the game?
that is one of the things I used to love in Madden...
If the gameplay hasn't improved, I think I will just pass on this Madden and continue to play 2k8...
Please inform me if EA has made any big improvements in the gameplay department...
It would be so nice if they had some competition to force them to make the improvements...
