Okay, I got an xbox 360 for Christmas along with GTAIV.
I hadn't taken the disc out since I had put it in and when I was playing it today it freezes up. I restart my xbox and try again, the system says to clean the disc.
I then take the disc out and look for scratches, not a single one but I clean the disc anyways and again check for scratches. There isn't any.
Yet it still won't play? Other games will but not GTA. What gives?

If you have a high speed connection and jump on Xbox Live. Maybe there is an update patch for the game. If that doesn't work call 1800 4my xbox.

It was just weird, I had just beat a misson and my guy was on his cell phone telling he had did the job and it just froze.

If you have the new Xbox live, install the game to the HD. My copy of NHL 09 was doing something similar (freezing after a game or moving from one menu to another with the disc read error) , but after I loaded it to the hard drive it has not frozen once.

All these problems are the reason I have a PS3......

I'm guessing I will have to re buy the game if I do this?

I didn't have to rebuy NHL 09. If you have the new dashboard there is an option to install disc to hard drive, if it saves the game to the HD without a problem then you should be fine(if it fails to save you may need to get a new one, but many stores will let you exchange for the same title with a reciept). Once it is loaded on the drive all it needs is to recognize that the correct disc is in the drive and will read the actual files from the drive.

Call tech support or take back to where you bought it and get it fixed before its out of warrenty. I think if you look on the xbox 360 support page it will show up there.
