Ciron Black, an OT from LSU.

I for one would be ****ed with this pick.

Do we even need an OT. We have way more important problems then OT. First of all we need either a DT or a WR in the first round. Or maybe if a good QB comes all the way to the number 19 spot then pick him, but an ofensive tackle. You got to be kidding me.

We won't be picking an OL this year. The staff seems pretty content with the personnel they have.

Besides, we have much larger fish to fry.

I'm starting to see mocks with us choosing between Knowshon Moreno and Beanie Wells.

I'm with Eagle on this. OT is a waste at the 1st round for the Bucs. Look for Defensive line or Offensive Skill player.

Can't disagree with us having bigger needs, but between his boneheaded penalties and his inability to stop any elite pass rushers we could do a whole lot better at RT.

That said, we still have bigger needs at QB, DT, and WR (especially if Bryant goes to another team). RB I wouldn't mind, but I don't see the need. I think between Graham, Dunn, Caddy (who should be back), and Clifton, we'll have someone who can tote the rock respectably. Wouldn't mind picking up another back with potential in FA though.

There's some decent FA OTs this season. I'd be disappointed if we didn't make a move for one of them.

so you are content with our group of table scraps?....i would like to have an elite RB in tampa....but I doubt we get it

Trueblood has been a disappointment.

Penn is adequate.

Black...at worst, we could stick him at right tackle and immediately improve the run game. The kid has freaky physical skills from what I've heard.

Thrilled? No. There are tackles I like better (keep an eye on the kid from Baylor). And I still want D-Line.

****ed? Not that either.

Realize I said respectably. It's not that I'm thrilled with our RB's, but I'm not thrilled with many positions on our team. I just believe QB, DT, and WR are far more pressing.

They are...but we had bigger needs than running back when we passed on AD.

Need versus Talent...it's the eternal argument. Considering we have some real work to do to get where we want to be, right now we're a "talent" team.

I think Jason Smith will be a big surprise this draft..

I wouldn't count out the possibility of him jumping into the top half and maybe in front of someone like Oher or Monroe.

And I think Penn is a bit better than adequate, to where we are set at the least at 4 spots on the line.

i'm a grad student at baylor and i've been to most of the home games over the last few years. its hard to really gauge the run blocking ability of both baylor tackles as baylor runs a spread. they were definitely good players, i just don't know that either would be an upgrade over trueblood.

Might consider Wells also.

Why draft someone to replace Trueblood when you have a Zuttah sitting on the bench. Zuttah played LT in college, I can see anyway for him not to be an upgrade over Trueblood.

Who we draft has a lot to do with who get we get in free agency. Its hard to make a prediction with any accuracy at this point. I don't personally speculate on teh draft because I don't watch much college football. I just don't have much knowledge of players that don't go to a local school, like UF or FSU. I was a total Dorsey mark last year, and he had a worse rookie year than Gaines.

Yea but that's just one mock draft... a bad on at that.

The best mock I've seen for us is on walterfootball.com:
1. RB Knowshon Moreno
2. DT Sen'Derrick Marks
3. WR Derrick Williams

I would be very pleased with that :p

You don't waste first round picks on RB's unless they are a once in a decade player like Adrian Peterson. They typically have short NFL careers and are a dime a dozen.

Yea, true. Plus they thought he was injury prone didn't they?

I personally would always choose big freakish athletes for O or D line in the first round. They are a long term investment. Unless, like I said a can't miss once in a decade player is sitting there. Like a Calvin Johnson...etc...

Or a great prostyle QB is there to pick, ala Matt Ryan

I wouldn't choose any WR's or RB's until the second round and lower, unless there just isn't anyone better on the board at that time.

I'm talking about what you know of him in college. You don't know what any player is going to do in the NFL. Look at Reggie Bush and what he has done in the NFL.

Look how many running backs did well in the NFL this year and see what round they were drafted in. My point was, I wouldn't waste a first round pick on a RB. RB's in the NFL are a dime a dozen. You need alot of them and you need young ones, because they don't last long. So pick up a couple in later rounds is what I am saying.

....the last 10 years of later round guys we've gotten, and I'm sure there's a ton more we signed coming out of IHOP along the way.

We need to start looking for first day RB's if we want to get any better. We cannot let Cadillac Williams injuries deter us from ever picking up a first/second round RB in the draft.

You can look at it two ways.

I get the impression that Trueblood doesn't really fit Gruden's system all that well. He's a big run driver, not a pass protector. That's not to say that he doesn't have a role on this team, but I think we need to take a look and see what Zuttah can offer us playing at right tackle.

That, or look for a pass protecting right tackle in FA or the draft, and make Trueblood that extra tackle in run situations, kind of like what we're using Zuttah for right now.

I don't have a problem with a second round RB. Just don't think you need to waste a 1st round on one. You can get a very capable RB in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. And all those RB's you listed are people our talent evaluators picked. Has nothing to do with what I am saying, if you can't evaluate talent very well.

Look around the league at 2 rounders or later. Michael Turner, Clinton Portis, Steve Slaton, Matt Forte, Ryan Grant, Brandon Jacobs, Frank Gore, Derrick Ward, Kevin Smith..etc... All second or later RB's.

But if Wells or Moreno falls to 19... definitely should scoop one of them...

Trueblood is an overlooked reason why the offense stinks. Stupid penalties and getting shoved around. I wouldn't draft his replacement in the 1st round but if a guy like Black is there in round 2 i'm fine with it.
