Okay, my house has a wi-fi internet connection. The main modem is in the living room hooked up to that computer and I have a computer in my room with a wireless adapter.
I was wondering how I could hook my Xbox to the internet in my room.
Would plugging the Ethernet cable to my computer work? And how would I set it up after that. Or other ideas?
I have a year Gold membership card that I haven't been able to use yet because I don't know how exactly to set up the internet.
EDIT: Okay, before now the Xbox live test that your Xbox runs would stop at the IP Address part. I bridged the connection on my computer and it went further on through the tests. Now it is getting stuck on ICMP part, and I have no idea what that means.

If you have a laptop with a wireless card, you can use the ethernet cable to connect the 360 and the laptop, then allow the 360 to connect to your network using the laptop.
I've found that I have to disable my firewall to get this to work, though, so you might need to do that, as well.

Thanks, but our lap top doesn't have a wireless card. But, do you happen to know what the ICMP thing is?

I had to go wireless at my last place runs good. Now I put up a linksys to my cable modem directly and plug my xbox into a port on the router.

Not sure I remember how I did this but I had to go into internet connections to allow other devices to connect through this computer to get through....

Wasn't my forte either until I got the wireless router (Belkin by the way, available at your local Wal Mart). It doesn't matter what brand you get, they all do pretty much the same thing....

why dont you go to game stop and buy the wireless adapter that is made for the 360. then you can hook to the modem in the LVRM.

And if you don't want to do the wireless router bit but want a very fast transfer rate I recommend the above.

The ICMP issue is the fact that the router is not "Xbox Live Compatible". Basically it's just not endorsed by Microsoft. It's a load of crap anyways. What you need to do is go into your modem and open up ports. You can use this link I've used for opening up my network at my college house. Open NAT / Set DMZ / Forward Ports (http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137247&highlight=Open+Ports). The second post is the one aimed towards you. That should fix your problem.
