You mean Buy 3 XBOX 360's because the first 2 will break ;) ;)
I kid, I kid.
Unfortunate OP but it happens sometimes. Just try not to shut it off from the back or shut it off during saving points because that'll cause some massive data corruption.
Check to see if your warranty is up as well.

It happened to a friend of mine, as well. It seems like this problem is popping up a lot lately. Can't really say I'm surprised, though. Sony was bound to have product failures sometime and the Blu-Ray drives aren't really optimal for gaming prowess to start with.

Have you tried wrapping it in a wet towel?

Sounds like your IR inverter is dead. Have you checked it with an oscillator to make sure you were operating at or above 7,500 Hz?

They make you pay for repairs? Damn, I'm a playstation kid through and through mainly because Square is too much of a ***** to move to another console therefor forcing me to support sony if I wanna play Final Fantasy titles. Still, they make you pay for repairs!? That is absurd since you're already dropping 400+ on the console. **** sony, the dirty ********.

Why would anyone expect the repairs to be done for free outside of the warranty period?
What other firm does that?
I empathize with your problem man...it sucks. But I do think you have only three options:
1.) Pay for the fix
2.) Buy a new console
3.) do nothing.
Either way, when I go home tonight and hook up COD WaW, I'll be channeling your spirit as I blow noobs up!

Wrong. Final Fantasy XIII is going to be released on both the PS3 and 360 and Square-Enix just released Star Ocean: The Last Hope, which is exclusive to the 360.
If I recall correctly, they've also got a couple of upcoming titles for the Wii.
