I got Dwayne Bowe.
He got Tim Hightower.
I still have Pierre Thomas, Kevin Smith, Felix Jones, and Shonn Greene at running back - all excellent keepers.
My receivers are now Bowe, Ochocinco, Welker, Ginn, and Michael Jenkins.
What I gave up with Hightower was a reliable "fallback" runner, in case my other guys were hurt. I could count on Hightower to step in and produce a bit. But I feel like upgrading from Ochocinco, Welker, and Ginn to Ochocinco, Welker, and Bowe was worthwhile.
Thoughts?

Bowe has all the necessary attributes to become a very good number one WR for the Chiefs. His benching earlier this off-season and during camp was all it took for the light to come on. Up until now, health realy hasn't been an issue and I suspect he'll be about above average in health. He's not brittle by any stretch.
What would help the entire offense of course is better players on the OL. Cassel doesn't have much time to do anything with any consistency. Some local sports hacks are wondering why Brandon Albert's play has fallen off this season. Many like to think that the Chiefs losing 800 pounds collectively has a lot to do with it. An offensive linemen's mental makeup can change if he loses too much weight, imo. I think if Haley let's some of the players gain some or all of their weight back, they might feel more comfortable.
Anyway, Hightower has some good games and some bad ones. Plays in a good offense though. He's streaky. I would say that he and Bowe's production will be similar until KC gets a better line. Plus, a WR's career tends to last longer than a RB. Scale of 1-10, you get a solid 7 for that trade.

I think Bowe is a rising star off to a slow start. Obviously, Todd Haley is continuing to have problems relating to his players. That said, Bowe is the clear cut #1 option in an offense which gave us three 1,000 receivers last year. Like you said, the line needs to play better.
Hightower was a nice player, because it's a PPR league and he catches passes. But he rushes for a lousy average, which is a problem now that Beanie Wells is stealing his touches. Besides, you don't draft a back in the first round if you plan on building around your starter.
I feel good about this trade, but there's a major risk with Bowe.

hightower is losing touches, but in a ppr format he's very good. i still dont hate the trade though, you have more upside with bowe than you do hightower. he cant really get too much better, but bowe can get a lot more productive. risky but not bad imo
