View Full Version : One thing the Bucs don't need to be looking for come April..

Quarterback
Johnson looked nothing like a 23 year old starting his 2nd career game against the Eagles' blitz-heavy D. I'm not gonna go out and say that he's our franchise...yet... but with JJ and Freeman, it's strange to say that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not need to target a QB in the draft!
Now.... GO GET SUH, for crying out loud!

Even if JJ went 1 for 50 with 49 INTs today the Bucs shouldn't be looking at QB come April.

I don't watch college ball often but I like to read scouting reports and do all that. Does Suh's past injuries concern anyone?

No. As long as he continues absolutely dominating every offensive line that he faces, it's a non-issue.

Do you know if they were major injuries or not? Just curious.

The guy who is starting right now could be the answer... and your "evaluation" of Freeman is unfair until he gets in a game situation.
Now back to whatever hole you crawled out of, this is a positive thread and I won't have it sullied by your pessimism.

Ugh.. this stinks. I'm being positive about the Freeman pick (I don't even think he'll completely suck it up) but there were quite a few positions that we could have looked at, now that we can see JJ is able to do it at the pro level.
Oher
Maclin
Maualuga
Jerry
With the way JJ has played in his first two games, it just looks like we could have added a player with more immediate impact. Hmmm.. We'll see, I suppose!

Look, I've said it since eight months before we drafted him. Johnson can play. And I knew this is exactly how things would unfold once he got the nod. He'd simply show way too much to get benched, and he'd give Raheem a problem at the position.
Josh Johnson is the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now Raheem had better figure out what to do next.

I remember way way back before our 2007 season ended you talking him up. I paid attention early, and loved what I saw.
That being said, it was always potential. We definitely thought he could come in and make a difference, but I didn't want to get my franchise hopes up on a kid from San Diego. I'm very glad that all of that potential is readily apparent on the field. Yasinskas has already said that he's earned the "career backup" job and that Freeman should be in after the bye, but I completely disagree with that clown. I want to see Johnson with a week off to prepare more and get some chemistry going with the receivers.
That being said, I'd rather have a QB controversy than no QB at all.

if you're happy with these two scrubs, then fine, but i think they suck. jj not as much as freeman, but both are not the answer.

I don't think there is a QB issue. Freeman was drafted to be the future, and unless JJ shows he is going to be an top starting QB then it shall be Freeman's team down the line.
I liked some of the improvements JJ made today, but let's not act like he's playing amazing or anything. He needs to show more or Freeman will step in eventually.

One guy looks like a good young prospect, and the other one is a first rounder who no one has seen play in a meaningful game yet. So next time you think you have something intelligent to post, let someone know so we can assure you that you don't.

another sucker thinking our long term situation at qb is all rosy. letting garcia go was a mistake. yes, we needed someone young to come in, but we still could've waited a year to get the right guy. drafting freeman reminds me of the simeon rice situation. they were so hasty to get rid of the guy they went out and blew a high first rounder on a bum when we could've held on to him for one more season and got someone better. jj has more of a future for sure. freeman is jruss with better wheels.

Rack this man! Josh Freeman is an abysmal NFL QB. Just look at his stats. Freeman has thrown for 0 passing yards and 0 Touchdowns. Even more astounding, he has never even once thrown a single completion. The man quite simply sucks. He should be cut ASAP.

i can't wait for the i told you so postings i'll be making when jruss jr stinks it up. people were on me for ripping the FA for drafting gaines and that's ok. i'll just rub it in extra hard on backing this coaching staff and front office for drafting these losers.

i've been a fan since the 70's. i just don't like the direction of the team and the awful draft picks made for the past few years. sorry if i dont have faith in the owners and front office to put a good team on the field. cutting all of the veterans this year really hurt the team. you must enjoy watching us suck week in and week out and thinking we have a bright future with the bums we've been drafting.

You've been alive since at least the 70s, and you're still that immature?
Have fun on your vacation, maybe you can grow a spine and some ****ing manners while you're away.
Or a brain, that'd work too.

nope been alive since the 60s. you need some glasses to see how bad the qb situation is. the next 3 to 5 years will be just as bad as this year if they dont fire the coach and gm. i fail to see the optimism of jruss jr and jj. jj isn't as bad, but freeman will get a chance to play and he is gonna flat out stink it up. tell me what makes freeman the savior of this sinking ship?

I hated the Freeman pick, and still do. The guy just plain sucked way to often in college. But GIVE HIM A CHANCE. I'm so sick of people jumping to conclusions over things they have no knowledge about.

Cutting them was the first step in the recovery process. Kinda like a drunk admitting he has a problem.

Great question. I also can't figure out why Warrick Dunn, Kevin Carter, Cato June, Ike Hilliard and Derrick Brooks are all currently out of the league? And why does Joey Galloway only have 7 catches? I just don't get it. Everybody knows the Bucs made a terrible mistake in releasing them.

i have a feeling garcia makes a lot of noise if he doesn't get playing time. oh yeah, mallett is the man!
