AL Lopez park is just north of the stadium and is by far one of the NFL's best tailgate spots. I tailgate there and have for the last several years.

Do you have to pay for parking? Is the mall near the stadium a good place to tailgate?

The mall is right across the street from the stadium and alot of people tailgate there..They charge 5 -10 dollars to park....If you get there early enough you can get one of the grass covered islands other wise every thing else is concrete..Grills are allowed but not Jaguar gear.......Have fun.........GO BUCS.. I am starting my third year parking at the mall. Up until last year, you could get there 3 hours before the game and still find shade. Now that they stopped allowing people to park on the grass at Al Lopez, you have to get there considerably earlier. We usually arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 for a 1:00 game, but there are shaded areas further back in the lot that you can get up until about 9:30.

The cost is $10.00, but you can turn your stub in at any store in the mall for $5.00 worth of merchandise.

Hope this helps and GO BUCS.

Didn't the city close Al Lopez to tailgating last year? Meaning you can park there but you can't tailgate their anymore? I thought that's what I heard. The whole thing about once being the best tailgate spot of all NFL teams.

They closed the south end of the park to tailgating. The north end is still rockin'

we have been parking in HCC for several years, if you go to the far end you can pay cash to park instead of using a pass. I think we had friends that paid $10.00 - we still tailgate and get to throw the football around. although with all the 1:00 games this season, I was thinking about tailgating at Village Inn or Waffle House!
Go Bucs!

BucsFanJim, I'm sure we've seen another before if you're an Al Lopez vet. We're usually in the SW corner with screen tents, tables, grills, horseshoes, TVs, etc. Looking forward to another awesome year...my new wife was just added to my season tix account! Didn't even have to wait to get her on (I had to allow them to move me wherever to get her aboard, but I wasn't digging my new "neighbors" from last season anyway...too quiet).

What time on Monday are you planning on getting there?

OBBF, I'll be there by 3:00 at the latest. We have a shelter reserved for this game and all the regular season games. You're welcome to stop by. Shelter 307 I'll have my cooker out there and another guy will have his there as well. The Packers game plans are being finalized now. We'll have a band out there. I'll post more info. in the next day or two.

That's about the same time we were thinking about...early afternoon-ish. So, you guys get the shelters? Hadn't thought about that. We just tried to emulate what we had in the older (better) Al Lopez by MLK...in the woods. BTW, if you signed a petition year before last, that was us in the red van & co.

How can I tell which shelter is #307? I never knew they were so marked.

Looking forward to meeting another Buc fan-atic!

Yeah I did sign a petition, I also sent letters to both papers complaing about Charlie Miranda (city council chairman) and his view towards tailgating. They were decent enough to publish them before last season.
The shelters all have a number painted on them. Ours (307) is near the entrance on the east side just south of the strategically placed restrooms.
I am not expecting a large turn-out for this one, being pre-season and all, but it will be rockin for sure when the Eagles come to town.
Be sure to stop by, hoist a cold one and ring in the new season.
Like I said, keep in mind the Packers game... Live Band, etc. .. the more the merrier.

We'll swing by and hoist a frosty adult beverage to kick off the new season, then.

The month of September is not too exciting for us, it seems (only the PHI game). It looks like the GB game really kicks off our home season, so I can see why you're gearing up for it (other than the obvious loathing for the Packers, anyway).
