We're getting in about noon on Saturday and staying at the Marriott Las Colinas about a mile and a half from the stadium. Leaving Monday morning. Don't know enough about Dallas to pick a party spot but wherever it is we'll be there.

KC, you know my schedule so that takes care of that.
Anyway, have no idea where to party on Saturday night, but, I bet we figure something out.
I would like to get all the Buc fans together for a huge tailgate before the game at the stadium. We can each pick up some of those mini-propane grills that you throw away after use, and pick up some dogs & burgers or whatever. If everyone commits & pitches in, it would not be that big of a deal.
Any ideas......ANYONE????

We already checked and there is a Morton's in Dallas so that is where I'll be Saturday evening!!
We weren't planning on renting a car but I just checked prices and for $15 a day you can get just about anything you want!! It would almost be foolish not to get one....I just hate the thought of dealing with a rental car for a day and a half stay! And you have to take a shuttle back and forth to the rental area from the airport. That alone is enough to make me hire a driver.

TDD has family there.
Maybe they'd know of a good Sports Pub...
I think it should be close to the stadium tho.
That party last year in Buckhead prior to the ATL game~ that was a joke tryin to drive all the way out there...

According to the hotel people I talked to there's a Champs Sports bar not far from the stadium. If anyone knows the way around the area the address is 3880 Irving Mall. That's the only one those folks could come up with.

I looked at hertz.com and with AAA discount you can get from a compart to full size for about $15 a day...plus in the Going Places magazine there is a coupon for an extra $5 off a day...up to four days starting on Thursday! So, with tax and airport fees you can get a Ford Tauras or like mobile for under $20 a day!

I have family in Nashville, Not Dallas. But i used to go to Dallas twice a year for a furniture convention. I always stayed in downtown Dallas, which is a ways from the Stadium, but there is,or was, a place called,"West End Market". It has many Bars, Pubs, and shops. There was a plce called, "****'s Last Resort", that was a fun place to meet and eat. There is a place called "Cowboys Sports Cafe" It is in Irving, I think, and that would be a cool place to go. If you are driving, get a map, cause the roads there go in so many different directions that it is confusing. I don't think that there is one, square block in the whole area.

That price does not include air fare. I was able to go on-line and and get tickets in the lower bowl (section 22), airline tickets (United), hotel room (in Arlington), and a rental car for 4 people @ about $250 each. You should try doing it yourself. Tickets are still avilable to the game thru ticketmaster. If anyone can find a place to meet on Sat. or tailgate on Sunday let me know. Sure would like to meet Bucs fans at the game.

I get in at 10:00 am on Saturday, and would be more than happy to try and scope out an area to get together on Saturday night, and set something up for a tailgate Sunday am. If anyone else is getting in earlier, they can do it also. I would like to find one place that ALL the Buc fans could gather and show their presence & "spirit"...sorta like last year in ATL, butm not 100 miles from everything else.
This is going to be near impossible, but, Im all for it.
Replys anyone???!!

earlier in this thread Mortons, Champs & Dicks Last Resort were mentioned, perhaps we can settle on one of those 3. With everyone staying all over the place, it probably is going to be hard to pick one place that is going to be perfect for everyone. Lets pick one place, it can be good for some and not so good for others....get a DD or take a cab http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif

This looks pretty good!!!
Champps Americana
Those are some really, really, really big TVs.
Average User Rating:
At Champps Americana, you can always tell which people are home entertainment system junkies -- they're the ones that start drooling as soon they walk in the door. You simply can't step inside Champps without first noticing at least one of the three gigantic video-wall television screens. On big game days, the whole 100-and-some-odd inches of each screen is showing the same sport; but occasionally, the wall breaks down into as many as 17 separate television screens, each showing a different channel. In addition to three of those, this gigantic sports bar also houses about nine other, smaller, television sets.
Champps is surely a sports fan's paradise, and the aficionados come out in battalions. You'll find middle-aged, middle-class, jersey-wearing men drinking beer and watching a game every day of the week. Even if it weren't for the screens, Champps would probably pull people in for their beer selection alone. You'll find about 10 different beers on tap and twice that many in the bottle.--Bryan Lindsey

Sounds like it's meet at Champp's on Saturday, then go from there?
Does anyone know if Dallas has blue laws like Tampa? I doubt it -- but if they do we'll have to stock up on adult beverages on Saturday and find a tailgating spot because there won't be a bar open before the game.
TweetyBUC
08-07-2001, 07:49 PM
OK....so everybody get you're alcoholic beverages Saturday for Sunday tailgate!!
I will, and whoever else wants to join in, will be working on finding out all our options for Sunday pre-game tailgate!! That will also include what kind of parking accomodations are available, easy in and out routes to stadium, etc.

Great Job Tweets!
Let me know if I can help in any way. First thing Im going to do Saturday am when I get in is drive around and check things out.
I have talked to several people that are staying with us at the Days Inn that is across the street from the stadium, that might be a starting point for a get together. Unless there is another place that has a bigger group staying there.
Whats the update on your group at Morton's? Sure would be great to have yah at Champps on Saturday evening!!!

As you enter the lot just sound your horn several times, that should be enough to clear most of the cattle out and make for easy parking LOL

If I'm reading the map right, it looks like about 4 to 5 miles from the stadium to Champps. That'll be a long walk. We're about 3 to 4 from there too. Will probably take a taxi. If you're right across from the stadium, sounds like your parking lot might be a possible tailgate site for Sunday. ??

Four of us, myself included, are making the trip from San Antonio, we probably just drive for the day but if everyone is meeting Sat. night I might be able to talk the others into making a wekend out if it.
Where is everyone meeting @ before the game to tailgate?

FT Worth and Arlington is about 3 Interstates and 45 min from the Stadium. Irving and Dallas would be closer. Wishing you all a great time. Be sure to see the skyline at night.

I know that there aren't any bars in Texas they're called clubs and you have to be a member to drink at one.
Usually though, membership cost the price of a drink and you get one of those free whem you join.
kinda weird, but different.
We'll be coming in about 40 strong on Saturday, and staying at the AmeriSuites in Arlington, and were even thinking of going to the Texas Rangers game vs. Kansas City that night as additional something to do, and doing something in the TGI Friday's Front Row Sportsbar they have built in the Stadium... but the Chammps deal sounds good too. If anyone may be interested in going to the Rangers game with us, let me know.
Are you guys going to reserve space there & prepay for grub at Chammps - or just play it by ear, and everyone just show up and go dutch? Let me know, because we may be interested in pooling loot in order to get MORE collective consumption for less money!

I think we should try to get commitments from as many folks as we can, and approach Chammps with an approximate number of folks we plan to have, and try to work out a pre-paid food deal ... like we did in the ATL last year.
Folks had a great time, and we got FAR more grub for the money than by going dutch.

Darn... wish I could go. Rod, let me know if you have any open spots or last minute cancellations. I was supposed to be going to Las Vegas for a trade show that week and was going to schedule a convenient stay over in Dallas on Saturday and Sunday and of course go to the game. Just got word via e-mail this morning that I wont be going. http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif

I'll try to get in touch with Champps to give them a heads up. I'm not sure I have a good feel for how many of us they should expect tho. ROD says he's binging 40. That's a pretty big group by it's self. Does anyone have an estimate?
Another thing we may consider. The Tampa TV stations will send crews to cover the game and sometimes they do a report from a local watering hole to show the fan action. Does anyone know how to alert any of those guys to the Buc Blowout at Champps?

Ryan, I had looked up the number for Champps (Las Colonas Champps). To save you time it's 972 373 0333.

Yes, that's the one. I guess there's a lot of opportunity to screw up the location. There are so many of them and the names don't necessarily make sense. That's the reason I put the address in here a couple of times. According to their web site, it's the Las Colinas Champps in Irving on West John W. Carpenter Freeway.
I notified five Tampa TV stations - 10, 44, 28, Fox, and one other that I can't remember.

I sent them e-amils. No replies yet. I told them we would have 100 - 200 there, but I'm not sure what the real number will be. It'll be interesting to see the response to your other posting.

Hey, whatever works for everyone is good with me!
KC, Im including you & BW in my group for a total of 4 from this end.
As long as everyone is in agreement, it is fine by me.
Probably could get a better deal on food & drinks doing the group thing.
Whatever I can do on my end to help, let me know.
Somehow, I knew this was gonna happen! HA HA HA! YES! http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif

Unfortunatly our group will not be able to get there until early Sunday morning, are you guys still planning to tailgate prior to the game? and if so what time and where around the stadium is everyone gathering at?

I have had no luck getting decent help from cowpie fans as to where to tailgate Sunday before game!! But I'm still working on it! http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif
What about the parking lot of your hotel, Tarheel?? I think someone (maybe you) already mentioned this.

though I have not called and asked them about using the parking lot, someone else said that alot of people do tailgate at the motels around/near the stadium.
works for me, all they can do is ask us to leave http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif

Hey guys,
Im a Bucs season ticket holder that actually lives in Austin, and we are bringing a group up for the game. I travel to Dallas about 2 weeks a month, so have checked out most every place in Dallas. Unfortunately, I cant make it Sat Nite, but thought I might offer some assistance. Champs is OK (a LITTLE out of the way), but if you ask me, probably the best place to party (and just happens to be closest to the stadium) would be one of the Humperdinks sports restaurants (their Plano location is home to the Seminole and Gator clubs of Dallas!). Both the one on NW Hwy, and in the one in Las Colinas (Irving) are about 2 miles from the stadium...which brings up a WHOLE nother issue!
The parking at the stadium is the WORST parking situation I have EVER seen (I too got to alot of away games!)! I have heard horror stories about people having been there 2 hours before a game and STILL not getting in for kickoff! If you dont have a BLUE parking pass, I would plan for extra time! That story is probably an exagerration...but I have been to the stadium a couple times, and wouldnt neccessarily doubt it! The stadium is in the middle of NOWHERE...but its surrounded by highways, and there are NO businesses within at LEAST a mile! You might try parking at Univ. of Dallas, just west of the stadium...
I'll be there in sec. 11, row 7, right behind the bucs bench! If you need any Dallas info, you can email me at gotbbux@hotmial.com....or i will try to check back here!
Ya'll enjoy it! See you at the game!
Go Bucs!
PS...for those of you planning to go to Mortons...I like Mortons and all...but do yourself a favor and break tradidion and treat yourself to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Ive eaten at many Mortons, Ruth's Chris, and most of those top ten steakhouses you see on the airlines magazines. Pappas Bros. is FAR and AWAY the most outstanding piece of beef you will EVER put in your mouth! I actually had Kobe/Wagyu beef there on nite, for $16 AN OUNCE! But OH MY! INCREDIBLE! The whole upscale Texas thing is not to be missed, not to mention, the service is mindblowing! They actually have a helicopter service to and from the airport! And the wine cellar tour is a MUST....just ask your sommolier (sp?)...

Hey Ryan is your hotel within walking distance from the stadium?, that way those of us that are consuming don't have to get on their cars to go to the game.

Why not pick up a couple of those disposable grills, and through some brats, dogs, burgers or whatever on, then trash the grills. Easy cleanup! As much as I would like to, it will be difficult to actually have a "full scale" tailgate since we aren't equipped. Whatever works for everyone else is fine with me.
It will be a blast no matter what! Looks like the extended forecast looks good, around 87 degrees on Sunday, of course that is sublect to change. Can't be much warmer than I have felt in Tampa! IT DOESN'T MATTER http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif

The real address of the Champps in Irving seems to be different depending on who's web site you look at. The one I posted earlier may be wrong so we need to just look up the one in Irving when we get there.
WayneTpa
09-07-2001, 08:36 AM
Apparently different web sites (hotels, etc) have different addresses for Champps in Irving. The address I posted earlier may or may not be right. Everybody needs to look it up when we get there. There should be only one in Irving.
UPDATE...
The word about the Party is spreading like wildfire, so expect the place to be out of control! Just as a precaution, I called Chammps today, and reserved some tables for our Group as insurance to ensure we get in & seated, so I'm suggesting you guys should do the same.
Apparently, they sound like they are setting up a separate area/level of the building for the Bucs fans in order to accommodate their regulars, so you may want to let them know, so they can adequately prepare for the upcoming Invasion!
I haven't seen any of the local papers yet today, but it's been mentioned a few times on 1010 AM today, and folks making the trek there have been calling for their number, so I'm just lookin' out for ya that are out here ... call Chammps at 972-373-0333 and secure you some seats ASAP!
