Why are you selling tickets through Ticketmaster? Especially all over the state!!
If someone ( a really dedicated fan ) wants a single ticket to the game, make that indivdual(s) come to the box office to purchase tickets!!!!! I'd be more than happy to take time to come to the box office to purchase tickets. This is the practice of stadiums (maybe not all of them) around the league. J'ville in particular. The Jag's do not sell tickets through Ticketmaster (when the Buc's played there, I had to go to the Alltel's box office to purchase my ticket and not before the Monday preceding the game) and they do not open single ticket sales till the Monday before the game. Why can't the Buc's organization do this and not sell tickets through the expensive Ticketmsaster so the more dedicated fans have a better chance of getting single tickets? Another thing you are doing by selling tickets through Ticketmaster, is allowing fans from opposing teams to purchase more tickets above and beyond what has been allotted to the opposing team. Hence, that many less Buc Fans in R. J. S.
I believe you would not have to worry about not selling a game out if you did not sell through Ticketmaster. The season tickets are sold out for years to come now and that only leaves a few thousand seats left. Those tickets would be gobbled up in a heartbeat, even without Ticketmaster!!!!
I realize it is too late to do anything about it for the 2001~2002 season, but please consider this for next year and years to come?!?!?!
Thanks much,
Butch

AMEN brother. I thought, in the past, they at least limited the ticket purchases to the surrounding areas. This makes no sense, considering it is a given that they will sell out regardless where you sell them. I spent MANY days at games at the Sombrero where we were outnumbered 2 to 1. This also makes it even easier for the scalpers/brokers to get tickets and sell them for twice as much!!!

What makes you think that a fan ( a really dedicated fan ) has to live in Tampa, much less Florida? I am in the Navy, stationed in Virginia, and was thrilled to find out single game tickets would be available through Ticketmaster. This will allow me to purchase a ticket and plan a trip around that date. If the Bucs changed to the way you are suggesting, I would have to take an extra 4 or 5 days and HOPE that they had tickets available. Even though I despise Ticketmaster also, I will gladly pay their service fee to know I have firm plans.

You are the minority! I would rather take my chances that the people buying the tickets from the Tampa area are Buccaneers fans, then open it up to everyone to buy. I don't imagine there are many Bucs fans in Virginia or most states besides Florida and Georgia. Of course, the bandwagon has been getting pretty full.

I didn't say that Buc fans have to live here, I was just saying that the tickets shouldn't be sold through Ticketmaster (at all) all over the state ( and country, if that's the case). This practice allows more non-Buc people to get their hands on tickets that instead the Buc Fans should have first crack at. The opposing team has been given an allotment and it needs to stay with that. Not that I'm greedy or anything like that. Hee, Hee. I can understand your dilemma for I too was once a squiddly diddly. From 76 ~ 82. I had no choice back then to take a chance. But then again, not as many folks back then riding on the bandwagon. Even if I was back up there I still would not want tickets to be sold through ticketmaster. I would get someone down here get the tickets for me just like I did back then. Even if Ticketmaster does sell the tickets.. why do they have an allotment of EIGHT per individual? There's a lot of people who would like just two tickets (me for example) but when they're allowing eight tickets per person.....geeesh do the math, it's not going to take that long to sell out. And then to have these idiots turn around and try to sell them for more to those true fans who took the time to stand in the God forsaken line...only to be turned down! Totally ridiculous!

What? People who plopped down seat deposit money are bandwagoners? If you were such a fan you would have gotten season tix also instead of wasting your time at a Ticketmaster outlet. Sounds like YOU are the "bandwagoner"!

Not everyone can afford season tickets but can afford going to one or two select games.

Come on!........people will blow a couple hundred bucks buying tix from a broker or scalper and complain they couldn't get tix at Ticketmaster because they were too shortsighted or to "tight" to plunk down seat deposit money. Not too many of us can really "afford" them but we do it because we are fans and want to be at the games. We just cut back on other things. People always "find" the money for what they "really" want......that's why I said "they" are the bandwagoners.

Sportzomby,
I didn't mention anything about getting season tickets because that is not the point as to why I started this topic. But , since you decided to put your narrow minded point of view in here, here ya go!!!!!
First off I left this area in 1976 to 1990. Living in Virginia and North Carolina. When I came back down for whatever reason, I always got tickets to the game. Since I've moved back down here in 1990, I've been to every home game (and some away)until the past few years. I didn't need to by a season ticket. No need to!!! I'm pretty sure you can figure out why IF, you are the Buc's fan you claim to be. You had to go to the box office back then!!!
All of a sudden, the Glazers take over, the team starts winning, season tickets are sold out and they are selling single tickets through Ticketmaster all over the frickin state if not the country!!!!! I think that's a wonderful thing except for selling tickets through Ticketmaster. Season tickets aren't purchased through Ticketmaster!!!!
You mentioned " Bandwagon ". Where were all the season ticket holders that they have now back then?!?!?!?! I've been there suffering through all those losses and a few wins, season after season, and watch season ticket holders drop like flies!!!! Now the Buc's are winning, season tickets are sold out!!!! That my narrow minded fellow Buc Fan is the definition of " Bandwagon "!!!! It should have been sold out all along!!!!
How dare you come in with this " Holier Then Thou, I've Got My Season Ticket " atttiude!!!!!!!!! how in the Devil's Home can you possibly know what peoples situations are in life?!?!?!?! You need to wake up and start reading newspapers and smelling the coffee!!!!The only person that would possibly know that is your Higher Power. You must be living at home with mommy and daddy to be making the comments you made!!! Those comments are totally uncalled for!!!! Saying such things at or toward fellow Buc Fans!!!! YOU must not be a TRUE FAN!!!!!
What about those folks on the waiting list? I'll bet you feel the same about them as well!!!!! Judging by what you have written on this subject, I'd say that's pretty much true!!!!
Now to get back to what I started this for, now that you have throughly angered myself and many others by your narrow minded comments, that they should not sell tickets through Ticketmaster!!!!! Due to scalpers, brokers and opposing team fans. Selling through Ticketmaster makes it too easy for these undesirables to get tickets (I do apologize to our distant fans!!! For I was one too!!!) R.J.S. Box Office only!!!!The true Buc fans would not have a problem going to the box office to purchase their tickets!!! This years tickets sold out in less then 10 minutes!!!!!I'm just curious how many Buc Fans got their hands on those tickets?!?!?! I'd say not many!!!!
Butch
PS I am not a season ticket holder ( You've probably gathered that). I have too many other obligations in front of me. (or how did you put it, " Too shortsighted or Too Tight" ) But like the season ticket holder, I still want to go to the games when I get a chance and support the team. By selling tickets at the box office only, that would give myself and other Buc Fans a better chance!!!!!

WOW! You should be a novelist. What a story! I am impressed....... Actually I meant no malice, it just "sounded" to me that you were upset the season is sold out and that "bandwagoner seat deposit holders" are the reason. I have been a Bucs fan since I moved here in '82....going to most of the games. I bought season tix the year the Glazers bought the team because I could see the product was going to get better. Having season tix or not doesn't make a true fan, as you say, however the handwriting was on the wall when a smaller stadium was built.....buy season tix or risk being on the outside looking in. Everyone had a chance to get them....some chose not to, like you. Now you have to deal with the result. My main point was that people who decided not to buy season tix,now have to pay inflated tix prices from brokers or scalpers.....so how much money have they saved? My reasoning is why go thru all of that? That's why I plunked down the money. You're a good Bucs fan I am sure......certainly didn't mean to diss you on that......and no I don't live with my Mommy and Daddy, I am 50 years old and my kids and grandkids live with me.......
