The Buccaneers finally got on the board late in the third round with the selection of Michigan WR Marquis Walker.
Now that the first day of the draft is nearing completion, what players are surprisingly still available to the Bucs?
I say it would be Andra Davis

the LB's dont seem to have the speed that is generally accustomed to the type of players TB drafts. However I hope Davis falls to TB in the 4th. Either that or they should jump on Coy Wire if he's there.

I agree that Trev Faulk & Andra Davis could have been taken already. Even though my boy Quarles is moving to middle linebacker both Davis and Faulk would be hard to pass up. Webster could be moved to outside linebacker to make room for either of those two.
I think depth at linebacker could be addressed but safety is where we are weakest. I believe Coy Wire was taken, but Pig Prather would be a pretty good pick.
Atleast at linebacker we have Brooks, Quarles, Singleton, Webster, & Cerqua (IR).
At safety, we have nothing behind Lynch & Jackson. Howell & Gibson don't look promising at all. I saw somewhere on this board where someone was saying Jackson sucked. This past year was his first year starting from day one and had 65 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 4 INTS. I think that is pretty freaking good.

i agree with the speed issue presented by the remaining "good" LB but remember we have done so well in the past with the guys that havent been labeled and branded in the past... especially on offense

i like ramon walker... he will be a big hitter like our boy lynch no matter where he goes... imagine how a reciever would feel if he knew at least ONE of those guys were chasing him down... that is the defense we love to watch

At linebacker i think there is three good players andra davis, trev faulk, and a home town boy for me ben taylor.
Now a great player still on the board is jonathan wells a running back but with the re-sining of alstott that isn't a need pick.
To help out our o-line there isvictor rogers, qasin mitchell, jaquin gonzalez,eric heitmen,and rich williams any one of the would be great backup
any of these playes would really help out are already great team!!!!!!

I think Antwaan Kirk-Hughes and Joaquin Gonzales would really help our o-line.

I was the one that said that Dexter Jackson sucks and he does. It doesn't matter how many tackles he had, look at how many times he got burned when we needed a stop. For a simple reminder, look at the games against Chicago. I said that he sucks because of the way he plays on the field and his concentration. If someone is constantly throwing the ball your way because you are suspect, then naturally you are going to have many tackles. I could see if he was a d-linemen or even a cornerback then those numbers would look good but he's a safety that sucks and I'm sure there are many other Buc fans that agree. He got burned repeatedly for touchdowns and we got blown out. I thing Pig would be a great
addition to our squad.
I agree with you about needing to shore up some more linebackers. We lost a good one with Duncan and even last year Nickerson. It would have been nice to get Rocky but someone picked him a couple of picks earlier.
Holla back. GO BUCS!

I agree with you about Alex Brown. I was surprised that he was still there but I'm sure someone will pick him before it gets back to the BUCS.

Well, I guess we will just have to disagree on Jackson and see how he does this year. He had good stats (yes I know stats aren't everything) but it was HIS FIRST YEAR STARTING A COMPLETE SEASON and Lynch was constantly creeping up to stop the run. It's not just Jackson's fault. I think Abraham got a little soft with his coverage (especially checking the receiver at the line) allowing receivers to get down field awfully fast.

How old is Marquise Walker?
Everyone look at Ramon Walker Stats and tell me who's better him or Pig Prather.

I'm surprised Luke Staley, James Mungro, Kurt Kittner, Randy Fasani, Major Applewhite, and Ricky Williams are still there we definetly should take one of them.

word is major applewhite might not get drafted, if he doesn't the titans have extended the offer to him, but if he doesn't get drafted he may become a coach from what I hear...

I called it. players from Michigan are always able to step it up in the NFL. I think he has the best hands of all the recievers coming out. Charles woodson clone caliber. McKay for best gm in 2002! http://64.159.85.249/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif

Ok I've looked at the middle line backers still avaliable and have some prospects. Now keep in mind we were not the strongest agianst the rush last year and Reeves knows that, hence the reason he drafted T.J. Ducket. So some of the prospects that I list(not all) offer to potientially fix that in the future.
* Jermaine Petty - Arkansas
* De'Andre Lewis - Texas
(Played well agianst Big 12 competition, don't over look this guy)
* Andra Davis - Florida
Treverance Faulk - Louisana State
Justin Ena - Brigham Young
Roderick Taylor - Alabama - Bimingham

ANDRA DAVIS- we need a line backer and this one should have been taken in the 2nd round!
original Buc backer

I know there is not a need at the RB position anymore but Adrian Peterson of Georgia Southern is out there and would fit into coach Grudens offense perfectly. Another back that I feel could make a splash as a sleeper is Omar Easy of Penn State. He is 245 pounds and can run a 4.5 40. He made big impressions on scouts that showed up at the individual work put he held at Penn State.

Joaquin Gonzales of Miami. He is a very experienced Olineman who was the leader of the best Oline in the country and one of the best Olines in college history. He is very smart and played in a complexed offensive scheme. He could come in and produce immediately.

ha, no one even guess Travis Stephens

we just got travis stephens from tennessee. about as close to a warrick dunn clone as we could ask for. i dont know about anyone else, but im very pleased we are going on the offensive...weve done a great job of finding contributors on D late in the draft or via rookie free agents. i applaund mcka and gruden for going out and getting us a pair of playmakers...as for guys still available, there are still a pair of highly regarded corners from western kentucky out there and some sleepers at the linebacker position such as larry foote from michigan...is keyou craver still out there?

Luke Staley (RB, BYU)
Lead the nation in touchdowns despite missing time, was 2nd in rushing yardage per game, and was first in average per carry over 100 carries (8.1 yards). won the Doak Walker Award as nations best running back as a junior and is a good reciever. he does have injury trouble though. clutch preformer.

Trev Faulk is still available midway through the 5th round.
Luke Staley RB, Although I dont think that we need to draft one. We need to get a punter Casey Roussel is still there but not for long I think. Good strong kicker and nice net yardage. Need to replace Royals.

First of all, Duncan was the most overrated player on the entire team. He took himself out of way too many running plays which yielded huge run up the middle that we never had when Nickerson was here. I have been praying that they would cut him for two years now. Look at the film..you will see what I am talking about. Second, last year was Jackson's first year as a starter. He will be much better this year. Count on it.

Oh, I forgot. Calmus was the most overrated player in the entire country last year. How did he play against Miami in the Rose Bowl? I don't recall him making a single play. You will never hear his name in the NFL again. Believe me.

Someone who understands!! I use to call Duncan "the weakest link." That guy was horrible.

i cant believe we chose so much offense this season... i really wish we had chosen some more defense to train and add depth but i trust the team and there is still plenty of free agency to play
