I was just curious what the farthest anyone has gone on franchise mode? I am in year 12 and have actually played about 75% of my teams games and simulated the others. I would probably sim alot more but the there are so many injuries in simmed games that it kills you. It took till the 2nd year to get in the playoffs and lost in the SB in year 3. I have won the SB ever since. Now I am getting a little bored with it and am thinking about starting over but, also want to see how far I could go.

They just keep picking nfl sites. In my 10 seasopn they were at San Fran and my 12th was at RJS(even though the Bucs aren't in my league becauce my team replaced them).

I was in season 16 with the Bears! But nearly every game since year 2 was simulated, because it was very boring... My Problems are the slider settings:
1st: the opponent is to silly to win against me
2nd(harder slider settings): the opponents offense is unstoppable and they are able to score in every 2 minute drill with a few plays...

question: do you have some slider settings, which aren't too easy but not too hard, too!?...Or: Where can I find these?!

12 min acc clock
settings are for Human AND CPU, unless otherwise specified.

QB acc - 5
Pass blocking - 0
WR catching - 11
RB ability - 10

Run blocking - Human-8 / CPU-10

AWR - 10
Knockdowns - 0
INT - 0
Break bock - 2
Tackling - 10

SPECIAL TEAMS
Human/CPU

FG length - 11/9
FG Acc - 10/0
Punt length - 15/15
Punt acc - 12/12
Kickoff length - 7/7 (because, realistically, you SHOULDN'T be able to kick a touchback with every kick)

PENALTIES

False start - MAX
Holding - 55
Face mask - 59
Offen/defen pass interference - MAX
KR/PR catch interference - MAX
Clipping - 70
Int grounding - 50
Roughing passer/kicker - MAX

you can turn off injuries so when u simulate, no one in the whole league gets hurt under settings...

it gets to crazy for me. I think the furthest ive gotten on madden was like 9 years. And this is just simulating the years.

Too many non-real names in the game at that point. And i try to keep the Bucs intact.

Is it me or does Simeon Rice never do good when simulating. He gets like 4 sacks a year for me. So i have to release him because hes making like 10 million a year.

And does any1 else notice that the computer GM of other teams signs players that arent needed.

For instance

Jets signed QB Peyton Manning when they had Pennington at 91 qb rating.

Eagles signed QB Brett Favre when they have McNabb at 92 qb rating.

How do you turn off the injuries, I haven't found that setting?

It's under gameplay settings

Also, I recently started a Steelers franchise (at week 9 of year 1) and Tommy Maddox got injured in the 2nd week so I had to use Charlie Batch. He is WWWAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY better then Tommy, he's like the best QB in the league right now

i think it sucks that Rice is that bad when simulating its usually like 28 tackles and a few sacks, but Sapp is god when simulating

I got to year 16 of my franchise. I ended up simulating every game after my second season, won the super bowl every year except for 5, and in 3 of those 5 years that I didn't win the Super Bowl, I lost to the team that represented the AFC. By this time, all of my original players were retired, and guys from the current team had been hired as coaches. For example, Derrick Brooks was my defensive coordinator, Gruden was brought back as head coach, and I even hired Brad Johnson as my offensive coordinator.

I got BJ as my offensive coor., my HC alternates bewteen Dungy and Gruden (when 1 retires the other comes out of retirement:D )
and ty law as my DC (I signed him early in the franschise).

I WANT BROOKS!

SO far i saw McCardell and Johnson become coaches. I've had Brooks, Brad Johnson, Sapp, McCardell, and Emmit Smith (not that he was ever a Buc) on my coaching staff at some point in my franchise.

i have gone 6 seasons without simulating, that was from when i first had the game and was real bad so played on rookie and now win every game by 30 points at least on all madden with sliders on the realistic settings. I gave up after 6 because most of the real players retire and you end up with the same names in the draft each year which is way confusing. how many popowski's can there be?!?!

I think there's a problem with not becoming familiar with names with the way it's done. In real life, even I, who don't follow college, have gotten familiar with some of the top prospect names in the last few weeks. In Madden, you get a few hours, if you're really into it, to get used to the names and relative skill. And even that is just numbers.

So then you go into the draft looking only at numbers. Then you export the team, and play hours of mock games with the rookies, and even then you only know YOUR team's rookies. So that new guy in New England...you don't know he's any good. And you probably don't care.

So you stop recognizing names. Free Agents become numbers. The league leaders become numbers. Your opponents lose character. You aren't competing against Favre anymore, it's "that guy that keeps beating my guy in TD's." Your scouting is now you're '89' WR vs their '78' CB.

My solution would be, turn up the sliders. Play at a level where you can only win if you make an honest effort.

I haven't gotten very far. I got interested too much in realistic numbers. Realistic numbers that I wanted to get, with untested talent. And realistic numbers aren't fun...it's a video game. I want 200 yard rushing games, not 66 yard rushing (avg needed for 1000yds...not too impressive, is it?)

If you simulate seasons, you will never learn names except on your team. Best way to learn names would I guess be to play every game for your team, and pay attention to what happens on a week-by-week basis. Who's leading, who's doing well?

And hopefully for 2005 they'll fix the problem with unnecessary draft/free agents by the CPU. You don't need Favre and Vick, and neither does the CPU.

well i wouldnt say NO to favre and vick, put vick running back and run hb option, hb on deep routes and motion vick to receiver. that sure would fool the computer... hehe

I updated all the rosters....with free agent signings of every team.(ex. gold to bucs, owens to eagles, etc.)

I took the Bucs as my team.

I simulate the games.

First Year- Won the Superbowl with an 11-5 regular season record.(good sign)

First Offseason- Lost DE Greg Spires, and had DE Dewayne White take over. Released RB Michael Pittman, G Kerry Jenkins, and QB Brian Griese do to cap reasons. No Major signings nor loses.

Thru 10 seasons. I made playoffs all 10 times.(damn i make a good GM for Bucs;) )

Won Superbowl 4/10 seasons
Lost Superbowl 2/10 seasons
Lost in NFC championships 2/10 seasons
Lost in Divisional Round 1/10 seasons(ugh and it was to eagles)
Lost in Wild Card round 1/10 seasons.
