This is just the beginning of the news we should start hearing about Madden's new features. IGN (http://sports.ign.com/articles/507/507610p1.html?fromint=1) has posted an article on what EA has released detail the first of Madden's new features. More news will come out as we approach E3 in may which will be the games offical unveiling.

IGN describes the first look at the new upgrades as exciting, and from reading the article I was very pumped. EA has done a lot to give the Defense an edge in this years version. Playmaker functions have been adjusted to where you can AI has an all new "Team Awareness" where each defender is aware of where his teammates are. This will help you hold your zones when the QB bootlegs or scrambles, as your defenders will not all rush toward the ball leaving holes open all over the field. DB awareness has also been upgrade. Clink the link above to get a full idea of what's new.

What excited me most was the NEW "Hit Stick" feature. Its more of a visual function that anything else. Ever wanted to Decleat a QB who's just tried to scramble on YOUR defense? Well now you can. The Hit Stick uses the right analog stick to allow you to perform 10 new bone jarring tackle animations that will knock ball carriers off their feet garaunteed. Depending on your speed and angle you get a different type of hit, some will cause the ball carrier to fumble if performed correctly. The downside is that using the function causes the defender to leave his feet, if you time it wrong you may be left grasoping at air. Or if you're a 200lb Db going up against a 250+ lb Rb you'll bounce right off of him. IGN has some great game footage that shows the type of hits you can perform.

Great news CeriousBuc. Love Madden and have bought it for PS2 every year since PS2 came out. The bad thing about Madden is that it always comes out only a few weeks before USF Fall classes start.

Like I said this is just the beginning of what EA says is many changes and upgrades to this year's game. They've already made the effort to change the graphics as shown by some of the stunning in game pictures. All these new changes on top of last years deep francj=hise and playmaker mode are going to make for a killer game.

Interesting changes, but not thrilled about the individual controls on defense. Who has time to set up that much before a play?

Go online, try spending 15 seconds changing defensive schemes for your whole defense. You'll be lucky against most people to get 3 seconds.

If you need to adjust more than two player assignments then you picked the wrong defense to begin with.;)
