I Sony going to fully dominate Nintendo now that Sony is getting into hand-helds?

Yes, but nintendo is coming out with a new handheld at Christmas time, which features online support, dual screens (one of which is a touch screen), voice chat, and 64 bit graphics.......and it *should* cost $100 less than the PSP (which I believe online support must be bought in addition to the projected $300 cost of the PSP).

That's not to say the PSP won't be cool........it just means there will be some good competition. The PSP is a ps2, the DS is a Nintendo 64.....that's all there is to it.

Here's the difference in graphics, however:

PSP:

And finally, a real picture of the DS:

I wonder when/if Microsoft is going to come out with a handheld...

The PSP looks awesome.

Nintendo is screwed, the Gamecube is the worste of the 3 consoles, and the PSP is going to blow DS/GBA out of the water. I expect Nintendo to go the way of Sega soon.

Don't be so sure the PSP will "blow the DS out of the water". This is Sony's first try on a handheld console, while Nintendo has 15 years (I believe?) of experience, while being the most dominant handheld company during that time. Also, if the PSP does in fact cost $300, and the DS costs $200....by the time you add in the $50 for internet service and $50 for a flash card to save your files on, the PSP could wind up costing twice as much as the DS. While you may be willing to fork over $400 for a handheld, most people won't, which will lead to the PSP's failure. Another problem with the PSP that I have heard is that it's expected to have about a 2 1/2 hour battery life.......2 1/2 hours? Please.

Don't get me wrong, the PSP is a beast, and I love it. If it doesn't wind up costing twice the DS, and has a somewhat decent battery life, then yes.....Nintendo could be heading out of town.

And BTW- Microsoft will probably make some stupid handheld, with similiar hardware to that of the PSP, but release it 2 years later and charge $500 for it....and the games will most likely suck. Don't waste your money on it.

PSP: Battery life will lasty anywhere from 2 1/2 to 10 hours....those are the hours they stressed tested on from no stress, just music...10 hours, to full stress, like when you run you dvd player it is constantly spinning and reading then didplaying it on a screen ie useing all the device functions...2 1/2 hours.the design on it is sleak and sony knows how to handle products and able for them to last, plus make them look real good.

now the price you can be right on....if they dont price it competivly they are DOA.

DS: will fail, they will come oout with a revision after a year becasue of something they forgot. also it looks to clucky. The other forseen peroblem is the touchscreen, I know it seems awwsome now but think about the kids who play them. Would you give them your pocket pc to play with?? I think not once you start scratching the touch screen it stops working as great as it does when it new. besides nintendo has tried the duel screen in several variations before...from arcade to home use...and look what happened to them...notorious worse of all was virtual boy.

looking at both systems both could succeed, PSP has the more likly chance at being the blockbuster new handheld, even I am thinking of getting one. However though, Like I said I am just thinking of getting PSP not to be confused with actually getting one. I see both being a bust for being too pricey and other flaws... Verdict...coin flip lets see when hey come out...nintedos has had a monoploly in the handhelds for a long time, lets see what happens to arogent corp when another large corp tries to move in.

is it PS2 graphics?

I think the PSP will have the graphics of later PSX games and early PS2 games.

The DS looks like them old Nintendo handheld arcade games. I had a Mario one where you had to put these things on conveyerbelts with Mario, catching it on the other side with Luigi =]

And a Zelda one where you had to battle these dragon things =]
