Madden 2005

Looks good so far, been playing it for about an hour.


My only complaint is the menus, and how much they suck. The red background for the Bucs just looks awful IMO.....they shoulda stuck with what they had last year, and the years before (which was great!!). The Bucs uniforms also seem a tad bit bright........but it's probably just my tv. The Franchise mode is great, not too many new features though (although putting Michael Vick at FS was quite fun :p......converting any player for that matter). And of course the radio show is pretty cool. The only coach I've heard thus far is **** Vermeil who went on about his personal life.



That's it for now, kids. If I find something else worth posting, I'll be sure to do so.

i tried ESPN2005 football, the gameplay was amazing, so i'm looking forward to how much the new madden is improved, hopefully gameplay will be similar to ESPN, otherwise i might be switching to ESPN2005 football!!!

I got mine on Monday August 9th. Gameplay is a tad much better than ESPN. I just wish that Madden had the 'Maximum Passing' like ESPN has. I sometimes found myself using the right anolalog stick after I pass to a reciever on Madden. It may take a bit to get aquired to your playbook because there are some new plays to replace some old ones of last years playbook. So if you used to have that certain Big Money play from last years playbook, it may have been replaced by another play. I was upset because of it but I needed to change my gameplan every season so I dont get bored of the same old plays.

Personally I feel ESPN is a better game. Madden doesn't seem to have as good game play as ESPN does and overall I just enjoy espn more.

So do I, I wish I have a X-Box and Playstation 2 so I can compare all 3 to see which game has the best looking field and I remembered last year, Gamecube had the better looking field of all 3 systems but I wonder if it's the same for this year?

Personally I feel ESPN is a better game. Madden doesn't seem to have as good game play as ESPN does and overall I just enjoy espn more.
ESPN has better Graphics and Overall Presentation, but the GamePlay is Chunky and its too hard to read the Outside D. That and its WAY too easy to pass over the middle of the field, and the LB's are dumb and hardly ever swat a pass down.

Madden is better when it comes to gameplay, hands down.

as soon as i heard Brown was a Buc (last night the 10th) i went online to get the roster he is not on there as of yet...but wait a few days check fri and go online and when they do the next roster update he should be there

Just buy the collectors edition.....if graphics are that important to you, get it for PC, as (if you have a decent PC), it will look much better than it would on Xbox.

Not sure if the US version would work for you. I think it might, but you'd have to check for sure. And I don't think its illegal. Another thing you could do is check ebay or just find an online supplier, that is if no one here can help you.

The PC version is released on September 8th in the US as well.

The con is the radio announcer behind all the menu's. It can get annoying after a while but they did have Paul Edinger on that thing from my hometown so that was kinda sweet.

This game rules. Althought from 2003-2004 I had to re-learn the game. But 2005 I can still beat the computer on All Pro 30-3, So i'll have to start trying all-madden I guess. I play a friend in gainesville. We just get on to learn the game and play each other then can friendly quit, and do it all over again while we're learning. Nice feature.

i just bought madden and after playing espn ime ant the roomate didnt even get through a whole game before switching back to espn. i am taking it back asap. i have nothing good to say about the madden other than hes fat and the graphics look like crap and gamplay isnt as realistic as espn ohh and its 30$ more :madretro:

One thing you can definitely say is that Madden's franchise mode is much better than ESPN's. The story line is great. :D
Gruden was POed when Charlie Garner decided to star in his on movie instead of going to training camp in the 1st off-season. lmao

I don't see a whole lot of difference in Madden 05 than in 04. Mostly just cosmetic changes. Franchise mode is nice though.

ive played madden since sega genesis days. also had 2004 version and after playing a few games, its pretty much the same game as last year except for some defensive upgrades. despite the 'improved' D, they still haven't incorporated gang-tackling which occurs alot in the NFL. and the tackling animation doesnt feel realistic still. i still find ESPN more fun to play, the first time i played espn 2005, i was like WOW. Madden doesn't give me that same feeling. The running game in madden still sucks. U still get stuck behind Olines, at least in ESPN, the running will actually try to push the line forward and slide through the hole and break away from arm tackles. I just wish ESPN franchise mode is as refined as Madden's :)

What Madden has better than ESPN
-slightly better DB/LB AI
-much better franchise mode

ESPN > Madden .. :D .. definitely not worth the 50bux IMO. if anything, madden should've been 20bux.

I have them both, and I couldn't stand the espn game. Don't believe me? Play as the Eagles pick a hail mary play and lob it up to owens. He will catch it 9 times outta 10. Also, the gameplay isn't as smooth as madden, its much jerkier. Certain aspects of ESPN are better, such as the crib, I like that much better than madden cards.

Pros of ESPN: faces look more like real faces
Crib blows madden cards outta the water
ESPN license makes for interesting shows during franchise mode
the shoulder charge is sweet

Cons of ESPN:
jerky game play in passing game
too easy to pass over the middle
i really hating tapping "x" to run faster
although accurate looking, the faces seem plastic

Pros of madden:
mini camp and training camp are awesome
two player run attack is sweet
updated graphics and animation
seemless game play
franchise mode rocks
option routes allow for on the fly adjustments

Cons:
running game is hit or miss
music gets annoying real fast
menu is slow/ugly

the best new update for madden though is the existence of an option route. These things are amazing. Send galloway on a route that goes for either a hook or a streak after 7 yards and he'll pick the best route based on the position of the db on him. If the db drops in a short zone he'll be open streaking down the sideline and if the db over commits and starts turning downfield he'll hook back for a quick 7 yd pickup. Although altered playmaker is really cool, this is my favorite new feature.
