I dont know how many of you are playing the 2k5 series, which is better than Madden BTW, but if you are doing a franchise, I recommend that you trade your ILB or draft pick for Jon Vilma. I traded (2) 3rd round picks for him and he is amazing. He is all over the field, leveling people and he rating is up to 92 now. Fitz is amazing too!!

ESPN is good but Madden is better. I hate the Franchise on ESPN and I also REALLY hate the weekly prep to add or minus stats of the players you train. It takes too much time. ESPN is a good stepping stool for Madden though. Its easy to learn and when you become really good at ESPN, you will be ready for Madden. I traded all my picks in ESPN franchise because the NFL Combine SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS. I think Im picking a good WR in the 1st round and he ends up being a WR at a rating of 46 and a speed of 99!?!?! ESPN sucks at the draft. Id rather spend all my picks getting good players than relying on some draft pick. ESPN needs one more year.

I for one like both 2k5 and madden. I'm still getting the hang of this franchise mode etc. but overall 2k5 rocks. and it was only 20$. VS madden at 50$ will see. when it comes out.

I cant diss MAdden because lets face it, it did start it all. I do agree the Weekly prep takes alot of time, but you can either turn that function off, or if you take the time before each year, your players ratings go up quite a bit. I do agree the draft tends to be all screwed because I can get a Round 1 pick and Round 7 pick that are close to the same ranking. The prep camn change all that though. Sometimes the prep does get annoying but it works out in the end. ESPN is still a little behind Madden but seeing as how ESPN has only been around since 2k1 and Madden has been around awhile you would believe that Madden would be alot better than 2k5. I starting loving the ESPN series when I got dreamcast awhile back. I do think the graphics are better for 2k5 and I do enjoy the gameplay more.

It depends on what you're into. ESPN's presentation kicks Madden's *** all over the place. The Instant Replays look like actual ESPN replays, the player interviews are lame, and last year's game was better in that when the coaches were and player too, you just saw their mouths moving and didn't hear anything, that added voiceovers are immensely corny. In Franchise mode the cap management system is incredible, I enjoy how you can decide the kind of contract to offer a a player (unlike in Madden where all contracts are backloaded). And it's nice being able to cheat the system by reeasing a player during the week of the Pro Bowl so that the cap hit only applies for that week and you gain immediate cap releif by entering the offseason, unlike in Madden where the cap hit is administered during the following season and you have to take it for the whole year.
Now as far as gameplay is considered ESPN could not hold Madden's jock if it had 8 hands. Running the ball is too easy and passing is fairly hard. It is too easy to rush a pass and end op overthrowing a reciever. I finished Preseason with a 45% completion precentage....WITH PEYTON MANNING btw Edge James is averaging 6.7 ypc. And defense gets too many holding and pass interference penalties.

Well you need to learn how to draft. I can still get 70 rated players in the later rounds.

Honestly, ESPN doesn't wow me that much now. Although, I do like the first person football.
One thing that really irks me as far as the draft is concerned, is that just about every RB posts a slow as hell 40. A 180lb runningback who runs a 5.3 40? Now that's just stupid.

Espn is a stepping stool for Madden? You must be all world than. I can pick Madden up each year and play it successfully with no problem. Espn takes much longer to learn. Plus every game in Espn is different. Certain plays or strategies may work in one game but it wont the next game. Thats football.
