Madden '05 | The Hit-Stick

I LOVE IT!! Week 3 Preseason vs the Phins, I was controling Gooch late in the 3rd Quarter. The Phins dumped it off to minor and I used the hitstick perfectly and handed out a HUGE hit. This Hit caused a Fumble that was recovered by White. It was sweet :D

Has anyone else had any fun w/the Hit-Stick? This is something that no other Football game has EVER had, it raises Madden far above any other NFL Game IMO.

p.s. Becareful using it, sometimes using smaller guys you will just get bounced right off of a beefier RB or end up giving the O a huge play.

ya, i've used it, it's pretty sweet, and you're right, you have to be careful who/when you use it with, but there are some awesome hits in this game

During online play I have notice that there is a delay in the hit stick. Like if I was going to use the hit stick on my opponent, it would have a one second delay and the defender looks like he is flying in the air and eating dirt. I dont know if its my controller but it works fine on single player mode. The hit stick just makes the game even more fun than it really is. EA Sports out done themselves this season, way to go!!

I tried to tackle a fullback with Ivy, and Ivy didn't stand a chance.


And MarleyMon, I agree.....the o-lineman seem to suck this year :confusedr

Yeah, running isn't too bad. The defense though creates so many turnovers its rediculous. I scored over 50 pts but only had 171 yards passing and 70 rushing.

The hit stick is awesome though. I felt very rewarded when the cpu tried to run portis off tackle and I popped him with dwight.

Anyone else having trouble running the ball?
I was at first, but the game is a tad more realistic now as far as running. It is harder to pound the ball up the Gut w/Garner rather than Alstott. Garner is a beast catching the ball out of the backfield and Alstott is a beast running in Big Sets.

Try bouncing the ball outside every now and then and it will actually work (compared to older Maddens when sweeping was impossible). Also, once you set up the run, draw plays and counter plays work pretty well (i'm very surprized w/how well the counter works on this).

It is a little harder, but player tendencies are also built into running this year. Try it from that approach :D

p.s. Phillips now has a FF, Koren Robinson (sp) got JACKED UP! I saved the replay, it's just too beautiful. :D

It could be that because you are on PS2 that it is slower (or doesnt react right on time). It doesn't have a built in Hard Drive (yet) like XBox. Atleast that sounds like a logical reason for it being a tad slower to me.

Yesterday night I was playing the Falcons, I was controlling Derrick Brooks and Vick decide to scramble, BIG MISTAKE, I smashed him with the hit-stick, he fumbled and Rice returned the fumble for a TD.

Did I mention he suffered a Career-ending severe concussion?

ya, but I do get a couple of long runs with garner, I use alstott alot though

Regarding running, I think it has a lot to do with play selection and reading the defense. I use Westbrook and can get 100 yards without a great deal of pounding. It's not easy and playing the Ravens is brutal with Ray Lewis blowing through the line.

here is an idea for you, try using comella as you're fullback, and alstott as the tailback, it works pretty good ;)
