What team(s) are you doing a franchise with? What changes have your made?

I'm doing a Ravens franchise

The only roster change i've made is I traded a 2nd round pick, Will Demps and I believe someone else and I recieved Sean Taylor from Washington and let me tell you, it was worth it. in my first game where he was on the team, he had 3 ints (1 for a TD) and 6 tackles. I expect him to progress very well

I'm doing bucs franchise without fantasy draft

the only changes I have done is cut darrel russel and travarias robinson

through 8 games I am 6-2, and I decided to start chris simms week 9

mcCardell is my #1 receiver, galloway #2, clayton #3

dewayne white is my starting LE

Dilger is my #1 TE

that's about all my changes so far

Is anyone else as productive with Clayton as I have been? I have him as my # 3 WR, but so far he is my favorite target. He has 25 Rec. with 4 TD through the first 4 games of fantasy mode. He always gets open and makes a great catch when I need it. I hope he pans out this good in real life. :D

Last night I started a Cardinals sim franchise to see if I could turn them to a playoff contender within a few season. And in my 2nd year, I have a pretty good team

I had a strong draft too. I had the 1st overall pick and I took a Top 5 QB (81 ovr, 99 thp, low 80s tha), I then traded my 2nd round 1st overall pick, Josh McCown and Shaun King to the Seahawks for their 1 round pth overall pick. I drafted a RG (74 overall, 95 pbk, 7-something rbk I think). Then I traded Marcel Shipp and someone else to the Steelers for their 2nd round 2 overall pick. I picked up a 70 overall RB (94 spd, 98 car, 87 acc, low strength/break tackle)

Then in the FA I picked up some young back-ups

i started with the bucs, to nobody's surprise. brad went down for about 7 weeks, and simms stepped up bigtime & was an 83-rated QB by year's end.

after year 1, mccardell & BJ retired, so i had a youth movement going very early. traded a bunch of guys for first day picks, and a packaged several to get the first overall. i selected HB Tyrone Scott, who was League MVP in his second season after stepping in for a retired Charlie Garner. pittman was grumbling about playing time in year 2, and i was able to unload him for a 2nd rounder. ian gold was the league defensive MVP in year 2.

Dwight Smith & Jermaine Pillips are both 99's mid-way thru my 3rd season, and Gruden retired after 2 straight superbowl victories. I promoted Monte Kiffin to the HC job.

here's to hoping our actual future is as bright.

Wow, Ray Lewis really kicks *** in this game

In my last game he had 13 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception (returned for a TD, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovered all in the 1st half

He would've had 20 tackles but he missed 7. He was flying around the field

I have only had one player start grumbling about not starting but did find a solution. Go to substitutions and put that player in on a couple of formations and start the first play of the game in that formation and throw them a bone now and then by using one of those formations every now and again. It worked, at least on this one time. The player in question was happy after that.

i have a bucs franchise. In preseason mode, 3 players went down for the season with injuries_thank god they werent bucs. I have clayton as my #3 and he is always there for the long ball. Pittman has been more effective than garner- he seems to be breaking tackles better. The defense is the strong point of the team to me. The back-ups are staying happy, no one complaining yet. I did pick up Bill Schroeder and he is my #5 WR behing Galloway, McCardell,Clayton, JJ.

Simulated Franchise

Bucs started out 7-0.

Ended the season at 12-4

Beat the Panthers in the 2nd round of playoffs
Beat the Eagles in the nfc championship
Lost to the Colts in the superbowl

Pittman was giving me crap about not starting.

Anyway, 2nd season starts, and Ronde Barber is trying out for a semi-pro basketball team so he misses training camp, lol.

I just simulated through the 1st season and the Bucs went 14-2 and won the Super Bowl. Gruden got Coach of the Year. :D

At least EA has confidence in us. Hopefully, it's on target.

I haven't really made any changes. I find that I can't get McCardell the amount of yards that he needs to be a number 1, although I get a ton of yards with Galloway. Clayton is amazing as a slot receiver. He has made some great catches. Garner is a great part of my team. He has a few hundred rushing and receiving yards. He has a great pair of hands. Pittman is also pretty good. He has a good combo of speed and power running. I have dewayne White starting at LE, and Ricky Dudley starting at TE. I keep Ryan Nece in the mix as a 2nd MLB, although Burns has progressed well. I don't know if I made the best choice in giving Smith and Phillips seven year deals. Allen has played very well in a reserved role. Gold and Brooks fly all over the field. Those guys have some serious speed. I'm starting to give some reps at the end of games to Greise and Simms. I know Brad is gonna retire, and I want Simms as my future. I really haven't had much time to play since having to move into my dorm room at FSU. I really want to finish the season and see how the off-season is.

I just started my third season of my franchise (i simulated the first season to ge to the offseason) and i've totally revamped all the offensive skill positions on the Bucs.
-I traded Brad Johnson and Charlie Garner to the Lions for Joey Harrington and Charles Rogers
-Then I traded Mario Edwards and a draft pick to the Broncos for Ashley Lelie
-Then I traded Joey Galloway and a pick to the Patriots for David Patton
- (McCardell retired)
- Then i traded JJ to the Patriots for Daniel Graham
- Then i traded Dan Martin(a 83 RB i got in the draft) and a 1st round pick to the Vikings for Michael Bennet
- Finally I traded Bennet for Willis McGahee

Everyone here seems to be having great success throwing to the slot. For the last 5-6 years I've found that my slot receiver is always my top receiver by a fair distance, maybe it's my conservative play calling, my TE is often second. I also usually get pretty close to a 2000 yard rusher every year, full 15 minute quarters, but I do rush 30-40 times a game. Ball control, my 2 favourite words.

Question for all you guys who have been through a draft:

Is it better? My biggest complaints with previous drafts were one, the lack of players, you couldn't get a WR or CB past the 3rd round. Second, scouting just didn't seem to give you enough information to make an informed decision. On the flip side developing rookies has always been too easy in Madden IMHO. I can take any rookie and make him a star in two seasons. Not a lot of misses in the crapshoot that is the Draft.

I've made some changes,I cut Greise and a couple of other people who don't play, then released Tim Brown from the Raiders and signed him as a free agent to the Bucs, signed Schoreder and I don't use K.Mac at all in my franchise.Pittman produces for me better than Garner, and I use Will Allen in my Quarter and Dime Packages.

I usually dont keep my draft picks in the first year...i use those to trade for players in the first year and then every year after that, I use my picks (Unless I wanna trade them away). Oh Yeah, and since I dont do fantasy draft I use the Free Agency to my advantage...Beware: I have no idea why but the more big name players you get, the more your team prestige and morale lowers.

wow...i just played madden last nite for the first time and isnt that game AMAZING!!! i started a franchise and since i was at my cousins and only playing for the nite i did a fantasy draft and simulated to the playoffs and played the playoffs in 4 minute quarters and won the super bowl....

my forte was my dbs

cb-kelly,gamble,davis,winfield,
fs-d.smith
ss-archuleta

and i remember i did the draft with a cap and i was 30 mill under...i took all players that had long term, low paying contracts

Ya Garner has not done much for me in my first season. I actually had a nice
RB battle for the first 5 weeks. Fist i started garner and he did not do ****. So then i split reps between garner, pittman and white for the next 2 games. White had a big 64 yard run that won a game for me so i named him the starter the next week and he had 2 straight 100 yard games then in week 6 (i think) his 3rd games as the starter he tore his PCL and as out for the season. So then i begin spliting the caries between Garner and Pittman to see who would emerge as the starter. All the sudden Pittman just exploded and i ended up starting him the rest of the season (with garner *****ing the rest of the time i might add) and Pitt finished with an incredible 1,700 yards rushing and 32 rushing touchdowns in only 8 starts however he played in all 16 games and had about 450 yards and 9 touchdowns before he became the starter. Im in the first playoff game and will probably trade Garner and Grahm for a better lineman or some draft picks.

Well actually thats very easy to understand. The more big name players you get the more ego's you get so the big names are always *****ing about production or playing time or something stupid. IT makes perfect since the less know players are just happy to be on the team while the big players want to make every play and be on the field at all times.

Something interesting I'm doing right now

There's an option under Gameplay Opition called Coach Mode and what it does is when it is on, you cannot participate in the play, you choose the play, call audible or hot routes but that it. So I turned it on and started a Jets franchise and what i'm doing is i'm not playing offense but when the defense comes out I turn it off and I control Vilma, and only Vilma

It's actually quite fun

on espn 1k5, should I trade brad and o dywer for phillip rivers, and a 4th rounder? I may also be able to get a 6th rounder

I would do that however you may want to pickup an experience vet incase he does not work out.

i havent done franchise mode yet...as im waiting for a more updated roster then aug 4th so i can get Tim Brown...but i have been doing alot of reg games and practises...im glad to see im not the only one that likes Clayton...he is tight...but i use Dilger alot for thid and long plays as he seems to flurrish in the TB playbook i put Jamal White and Bennet as KR and Galloway as PR Galloway as punt returner in All-Pro skill is awesome he has run back 3 punts for TDs...averages at least 22yrds a return...man that kid is fast i purposely play Carolina and Philly to work on stopping the run and getting the offense going...what i see online however is totally different as alot of people will play Philly and run McNabb ...same with Atlanta and Vick so ive been playing some QB contain defenses which is sweet practice

I updated my Madden '05 and noticed Cooper is fast and decent at LB. I'm considering using him at MLB and backup ROLB until Brooks retires.

I think on the updated Madden roster, Tim Brown is a free agent. I just signed him, think I had to release McCardell though to free up the roster spot. Besides, whatever we do get for him, probably won't affect the team this year anyhow.

I started witht he Bucs and after two SB's I switched to the lions cuz they were the worst team in the league...I've won 5 straight, and everyone is still complaining. The only person that complained when I had the Bucs was Pittman.

On the side...Eli Manning went out with a career ending concussion in the 5th wk of the first franchise season I played. :D
